Remember that one Fire Emblem released in North America for the DS that had a hard mode with ridiculous everything? Well, I feel like going through it, and display how I BS'ed skilfully get through each chapter. I sincerely hope my sagely experience brings light on how to beat this mode to at least one person. Because this is a light project of mine, I'll go right into it without further fanfare.
That Fire Emblem.
I think this is either my third or forth H5 run in a game I have beaten at least over twenty times.
But none of that, let's talk stats! Marth- Oh boo-hoo, he can't promote, but believe it or not, his stats are balanced quite well. In H5, he will be that guy who will almost always 100% hit everything, and possibly one of two people with a haxx forge later on, which really is something in the grand scheme of things. That being said, he will have trouble doubling, and will forever be at the risk of dying, but it's H5, even the greatest units will forever be at the risk of dying!
Caeda- Did I mention, the second greatest character in H5 joins in the first chapter? Not only will she be able to double H5 enemies next level with a JAVELIN, but this 'Wing Spear' thing will no doubt be a central factor in five or so chapters.
Jagen- Might not be the greatest unit ever, but his Silver Lance, and ability to take three hits will aid us in the next chapter. He also serves to get hit and run away in the first half of this chapter.
Abel- He can throw Javelins without having to risk being hit, which makes him hot stuff from the get go.
Cain- Does not get as much love as Abel, as he does not have access to the 1~2RG goodness that the Javelin offers, but he does have a horse and a sword, and promising growths.
Gordin- 2RG chip damage automatically elevates him to having use in the first few chapters. His Steel Bow is a bit of a risk to use, but does much more damage than his Iron Bow does, but his Iron Bow will almost always hit. He will get replaced later on, but we must never forget chip damage.
He will also be instantly killed if the pirates so much as look at him in a mean way, thanks to how heavy bows are.
Draug- He will go shopping, buy Javelins, take exactly three hits from the pirates this chapter, and look handsome for the rest of the game.
In Normal mode, you can usually send the Skittle Cavs to deal with him, without taking any damage, or Caeda to double him, but in H5, he will wreck your a** if you charge him.
Thus, after throwing the Javelin at him with Abel (reset if it misses), I partake in a trade chain.
The trade chain is finished by Jagen giving the Javelin to Caeda, which of course has a shoddy hit rate.
How about that, the first enemy in the game took one reset and four units just to kill?
In normal mode, I usually have enough gold in the end to max haxx forge Pachyderm to kill Medeus in one hit, but in this mode, it will be a fine day when I have gold left over from LIGHT forging and buying Silver Spears in bulk.
That being said, I abruptly splurge on Javelins, as they are absolutely required to kill the first chapter boss with.
I like to start off here, as water tiles cost the pirates extra movement, meaning they will have a hard time swarming me.
Starting off is the hardest part of this chapter, seeing as these pirates all have aggressive AIs. Once these guys are gone, all the other enemies have territorial AI.
Once again, I must perpetuate my love for chip damage.
He might not ever become a powerhouse, but one thing he will guarantee is being able to hit things.
This is the trickiest part of the chapter, I like to form a wall with my characters who can take a hit, and equip everyone's strongest weapons.
After such, chip away and finish off with a Marth or Cain stab.
The final two are easy, seeing as the north one falls short of range, while Cain on the fort can sponge the south's attack and retaliate with a sword, while everyone swarms the two on their phase.
"and promising growths."
*Fanboy screams*
These pirates only move if you're in their range, making them easy to control and defeat.
Better than a sole LUK growth at least *glare*.
This guy will move if you get in the south pirate's range though, and WILL kill Caeda in one hit.
*Screaming intensifies*
H5 gives you a break in that the central-south Pirate will not swarm you, rather the east and north-most will, in which the north pirate takes two turns to reach the fort.
Although the hit rate is still shoddy as hell, being able to hit twice makes it less of a gamble for her.
Cain also makes up for his other growth.
And say hello to the most underrated healer in the series. 9/10 chance the ONLY HEAL STAFF IN FIVE CHAPTERS will be broken by the time that I can buy them in the deploy screen.
This guy's an a**, as are the other two bosses. Unlike the next two bosses, he is locked to 1RG, meaning I can pelt him with arrows and Javelins until he croaks.
Jagen sitting there on an enemy phase with his Silver Spear really helps to hasten the progress.
As does Caeda landing a crit on the subsequent turn. God bless that girl.
23 turns, not bad, seeing as my initial H5 runs landed in the ballpark of high 30s.
Tune in next time for the greatest character in H5, the hardest boss in H5, and choke-points!

God this chapter, I hate it.
Anyway, new people, in which two are amazing, and the other three, haha, the other three. Ogma: Has use for his high SPD and STR, but will eventually fall off the usefulness, because..
The greatest character in the game joins in the second chapter. Barst: Meet Caeda if she was a man with an axe, and did not require the Wing Spear to be good. He also comes with the Hand Axe, which is like everything the Javelin wishes it could be. This man also has the sexiest growths in FE11 in accommodation to his amazing bases.
Cord- E rank in axes, that's all kids. He does make a good Dark Mage for chip damage, but he has a horrid base HP as a Dark Mage, meaning he could not survive a single hit in H5.
Bord- As the famous phrase goes: "Hammer time". Because of how good Barst is, Hammer Time will be given to him, to help destroy the onslaught of General bosses later on, so Caeda doesn't have to drain her Wing Spear on everything.
His only use in H5 is serving as a waste of enemy space, as he does not attack ally units.
Ogma guards the north-west bridge, while he cannot hold off for very long, he can hold off long enough for Gordin to chip the cav on the second turn, and Ogma kill after Gordin.
Try all you might, Gordin, you're not coming with me after the second chapter.
Pictured: Abel becoming the red Cavalier.
Jagen tanked the first phase with his Silver Spear, while Abel tanks the next with a Javelin.
Next ally phase, I try very hard to clean up the Thieves.
One remains, but it's better than the Hunter, who would kill Caeda in one easy, high hit rate shot.
The next turn, there are some Cavaliers to worry about, but as long as Ogma hits the first one, Caeda can finish him off in one hit.
Do mind the pirate, as he only moves when you step in his range.
A typical Caeda growth, but no complaints here, as her SPD is the second reason why she's the second best character in H5 mode.
Barst follows suit, which I could complain about the lack of STR, but he really needs a SKL growth, to accommodate for his use of clumsy axes.
Oh jolly jee.
This is a very annoying part of this chapter, as Caeda has to be in the direct line of fire for a phase.
I like to hurt the Hunter with Jagen, and make Caeda multi-task by having her both recruit Castor, and make a risky Javelin kill to the other Hunter in one turn.
This is apparently a very defensive run.
The next turn, two Pirates will attack Caeda and Jagen, but they survive with ease, and everyone swarms the last two enemies and proceeds to the boss.
Meet the hardest boss in the game. People say the next chapter is hard, but at least you have access to a Killer Sword. In this one, not only can't you pelt him with Javelins, but he also hits like a truck, and no one can survive two rounds against him.
Forge money!
I think I bought three, as you don't really get the chance to restock on axes for quite some time.
I was smart, and used the save point as I was about to engage him, giving me the opportunity to play it risky. What I did was make Jagen wait on his turn with the Silver Lance, and Gomez attacked him on enemy phase, and on player phase, Barst threw a Hand Axe at him for a chunk of damage, and Jagen finished off with the Silver.
More things will be impaled with ease!
12 turns, I am getting somewhere!

For the hell this chapter gives people, myself included, it sure can be summed up easily.
The first force consisting of Marth, Jagen, Cain and Barst moves west to take on the small forces of Pirates and Hunters, and later take on the boss.
While the main force moves north to recruit Navarre and fight off the north forces. Once again, Caeda multi-tasks, recruiting Navarre, and weakening the Thief, who can double everyone.
At this point, I get positively thrilling levels.
The west force is risky business, but thankfully the enemy hit rate with Jagen is around 50%, so he pulls through after two resets.
Due to the access to healing, and mountainous terrain, making it easy to rotate my units, and throw Javelins and arrows, the northern expedition goes without a hitch.
Cain gets the exact same level he got before, which the DEF will forever be welcome.
For the final, stationary Hunter, Caeda hits him with the Wing Spear, while Castor finishes him off.
These Fighters are aggressive, but I have the double advantage of a fort, and choke-point with Barst behind him for support.
With both skirmishes out of the way, all that is left is the boss, who with the Killer Sword in my possession, is much less scarier than the last boss.
However, while I was waiting for Ogma to trek his way though the mountains, Barst pulled a crit off, killing the boss instantly. God bless blue haired units.
4evr MVP.
Also, Lena now has a reason to live, yay.
Crits to the rescue!

win spear.
+5 STR might even be considered overkill, but I like 5, it's a nice round number and isn't too expensive, seeing as how much free money one gets in this game.
The winners are above, and these people pictured (sans o glorious Barst) are the mooks who either will fall into obscurity in the next few chapters, or will stick around for mere chip damage.
Whatever makes Caeda's workload easier.
I will run like hell to time the Fighters after dealing with the Cavaliers, and the Hunter doesn't move unless you get close to it.
These are the guys who you want to deal with first, chiefly because they are on you in two turns, while the Fighters take three.
I think we have ourselves a full time Javcav.
Come second phase, I like to park Caeda in one of the Cav's attack range, so she can OHKO him, and there will be one less to deal with come my phase.
Things get extremely messy here, as not only do I have to take out three Cavs in one turn, but I also have to worry about the eastern front, who while can't advance too far west in one phase, can still swarm anyone who is going to take out that Fighter.
Matthis's sole reason for recruitment is to attack once in the whole game, so someone can finish that Cav off.
I decide that Navarre should finish off the western Fighter, and subsequently become swarmed, as he has a good chance at dodging (60%), and he will only get attacked twice, and only needs to dodge once.
I definitely won't need to, but I will still give him the Secret Book, to make the fact that he uses clumsy axes irrelevant.
As expected, Navarre survives, and Julian takes the third hit, so like every other time, chip damage before swarm.
After dealing with that thing, I move on to deal with the Horsemen, who have aggressive AIs. Barst lures them over with a Hand Axe, Caeda kills the other with the Win Spear, and if the other Horseman is still alive, Jagen deals with it.
Flying things were never really a problem, nor will they be now. Even in H5, Excalibur is still Excalibur.
Yeah.. and enemy stats don't really go up in this game.
I know a lot of people also like to forge this, due to the stupid amount of mounted foes.
Planning on arena grinding? Well TOO BAD!

Shortest update ever. I used to hate this chapter, but thinking in retrospect of the last five minutes, it's just that damn bridge that I hate.
More or less my endgame team, save a few new characters and better chippers here and there.
As usual, there are mounts above the units shown, Caeda flies in one of their ranges, Win Spears him, and everyone deals with the last two Cavs.
This is the only hard part, if only because Caeda can't get too close, out of fear of the Archer spam. I rotate Barst, Abel and Cain around, and have Lena on standby with a Mend. Cain cannot retaliate, as he does not have a Javelin.
And Windex joins, which is jolly news. Merric swaps tomes with him, as 8/10 I'm probably going to end up using Wendell because of his fab base SPD, which can double things from the get-go.
2RG is the true enemy of H5.
It might look terrible and bleak, but Caeda OHKOs, thanks to Win Spear, and the thief is non aggressive.
I'm not stingy towards using it, as I get another one in a few chapters, and it's just as cheap to forge it. Not to mention, Caeda is only going to get stronger, but not so much the enemies.
And Barst equips Hammertime, which probably won't come off for the next few chapters. Contemplating on forging it or not, for some ultimate boss kills.
I take the 50% risk and assault on his turn, which works wonders.
And yeah, that's that chapter, I hate that bridge.
Some other guys joined, but I'll show them off next chapter, with the wonders of reclass.
