Today was the best day of the week and Cami had been looking forward to it since Sunday. Why? Otto didn't have any duty on the roster for today. Cami didn't have anything to do but paperwork she'd made sure to fill out before going to bed last night. There was absolutely nothing to do but lay around in bed with Otto and be lazy. Nap. Snuggle. Talk s**t about people on the island who were making them annoyed. Gossip like the old women they were.

Currently her closest, dearest friend had his head on her stomach as they were tangled at odd angles in bed, Cami's feet all but hanging off the edge. Her fingers were idly toying with hair that had grown shaggy and delightful as she drowsed in early morning sunlight. "I like it." It was out of nowhere, the statement, as she wound a lock of straight blond hair around her finger. "Your hair's nice grown out like this."

Lazy days were the best. No reason to leave bed, no desire to change out of his sleep clothes. He had a book waiting on the night stand for later, and eventually one of them was bound to get up for snacks. But otherwise? Bed cuddles all the day long. His bed was a mound of blankets and pillows of varying fabrics and patterns. The rise and fall of a breathing Cami nearly lulled him into more sleep, aided by the toying she was doing with his hair.

"Really?" He asked curiously, chancing the act of tilting his head up enough to look at her. His hair getting longer also had it getting in his face more, a curtain over his eyes at some times. He always used to keep it long, but various battles and accidents as a hunter often had him getting it chopped.

"I used to keep it long all the time. Yours always been short?"

It was actually something they'd had to learn, the proper angle of head for Otto to be able to see over her breasts and up into her face. Cami was blessedly soft and unfortunately so well-endowed that sometimes it made things a little complicated but they'd managed. So Otto could see the moment that her eyes clouded slightly before she made the conscious effort to re-write her thinking. "No, not at all! This is the first time in my life I've had short hair. My mother refused to let me cut any more than two inches at a time when I was young and I guess it was just something that stuck when I left home for college?"

Groping around the pile of blankets for her phone Cami pulled up her old Facebook page that no one had bothered to deactivate, instead turning it into a touching tribute to the woman she'd been pre-Deus. "See? I had so much hair." Indeed she did! Standing on the beach at nineteen in her tiny shorts and bikini, looking almost exactly to the way she did now only with an extra three feet of hair hanging to her hips full and looking like it weighed a million pounds.

"And yeah, really, I like your hair long like this. It's so great to just tousle and play with. I know you hate when I touch your hair but..." Tongue was firmly in cheek now as a fingertip ran across the edge of his ear lightly, like a tickle. "Do you prefer it short? I think I do."

Otto rolled slightly, enough so that he was now on his back, his head still using Cami's tummy as a pillow. He took the phone from her, looking at the old picture of Cami in her world before Deus. His eyes widened slightly. "Damn..." She looked cute with short hair, but damn. Long hair was gorgeous on her. But maybe that was just him and his preferences. All his girlfriends so far had always had long hair.

He was sure she was joking, She knew well and good he loved having his hair toyed with. So he gave her a sassy eye roll when she said it. However, he flinched and tried to hide a smile when she tickled his ear, leaning his head away as his shoulders hunched defensively. Ticklish. Cami found one of the hidden wonders of Otto's ticklish spots.

He kept her phone from her as punishment, looking at the long haired woman for his own enjoyment.

"Do I prefer your hair short, or mine, you mean?" Otto asked for clarification, often times finding himself unsure of what others referred to mid conversation. "You look really cute with short hair." It was true, and she said she liked it. That's all she needed to know. He couldn't imagine what a pain hair that big would take to keep tangle free.

Yes, that was usually the reaction, wasn't it? She'd never been sure what it was about men or why they liked long hair on a woman but it was fairly universal. Cami was soothed a little in that Otto at least thought she was cute with short hair but she'd decidedly never gotten a reaction like that by being cute. Winding a curl of her own around her finger even as she continued to toy with Otto's mop she didn't know really when she'd begun to consider growing it out or even why it mattered.

Because she could she lightly tickled him again just to see if she could get him to smile before squinting down at him. "Try not to swipe too much through that though. There are some pictures on there that would bar me from any future employment that I never got to delete. Believe me when I say I was a party girl." And hopefully he didn't go into her Facebook messages. That would have been something Cami wasn't sure she could ever recover from when it came to Otto's good opinion.

God bless Snapchat, though. Those memories were long gone and good riddance to them.

She wanted to ask him to answer the question but she really knew the answer and it'd probably just make her sad. So she clarified instead. "I meant if you preferred mine short because what you want with your hair definitely doesn't matter." Tongue was firmly in cheek as she snorted a bit, turning it into a yawn. "Though I used to hang out with a few Marines. Freshly-buzzed hair is always so soft and fuzzy to pet."

Otto's smile was fleeting, a barely contained giggle emanating from him before he turned away completely to hide from her tickling. His hand covered his exposed ear, his other flicking through her pictures just to spite her now. "Too late." He sassed at her, flicking through the Party Girl pictures in retaliation. "You'll never work again." A total lie, of course.

He at least had the decency not to go through her messages. It wasn't his business, after all.

"I like yours long, but that might just be cause I ain't seen you with long hair before." Novelties, right? Definitely not a preference. Nope. He'd have felt so terrible if she changed because of his words. He didn't expect her to, anyway. It was short for whatever reason it was short. "Ugh, I could never get a buzz cut. It'd be so weird." He'd always had hair. As far back as he could remember. It was odd enough when he had to cut it after the acid attack in the Sahara.

Cami's grin was swift and immediate as she felt the giggles against her stomach, sitting up slightly so that she could see if he was smiling or not. Could you giggle without a smile? Maebe had texted her a picture of him smiling on the couch the night she'd been with Dylon and it was one of her absolute favorites. It felt a little silly sometimes to make such a big deal about Otto's smiles, like there was something wrong with not smiling all the time, but he didn't seem to mind too much.

Halfheartedly trying to get her phone back from him the trainee was unwilling to oust him from where he was snuggled up against her stomach, flopping back down into their nest instead. "Noooo! I so badly wanted to work somewhere other than Pauly's Strip Barn! Now I'll never be free of Rico!" One arm flopped dramatically up against her forehead as Cami giggled as well.

"That's what I thought about short hair but I didn't have much of a choice. I could've ended up bald after that bullshit Sarlacc titan thing and it's only because Ki stopped the fire from going above my neck that I was okay." Hands ruffled her own hair, neglecting Otto for the moment. "I like it short though. I guess I just miss my ponytail a little. It was familiar."

"You could always get extensions if you miss it. Like them ponytail clips stuff in the mall. Take'm out when yer bored of'em." He mumbled, eventually growing bored of keeping Cami's phone from her. The pictures themselves were of course a delight to see. But he gave back the phone anyway.

"You like your hair as is anyway, right?" And she liked it, after all. He looked up at her as he rolled back over, the phone held out for her to take back.

Idly taking her phone back she considered adding Otto as a friend to the account but then there would have been a dozen notifications and people wondering who the ******** was accepting friend requests on the account of a dead girl. So, instead, she just discretely saved the photos for a later date. Growing out her hair back to her waist would take literal years unless there was some kind of miracle growing potion somewhere on the island, making it something Cami wasn't all that concerned about.

"Well extensions have to be done right and for my hair type they're expensive. Plus you have to like, oil them and stuff to keep them nice. It's kinda gross if you don't. I think I'll just be cute and sassy and then maybe just get a wig when winter hits." Lips curved a bit, thinking about it. "Maybe I'll get a nice long black wig so I can braid neon ribbons into it or something. Whatcha think about that?" Idle conversation, idle moments.

Thinking of long hair had her thinking of Maebe and suddenly she understood more than ever what the blonde's allure was. She had some pretty ******** spectacular hair on top of her many other charms. "I wonder what Maebe would look like with short hair."

"Sounds like a pain in the a**. Don't bother going through the trouble just to have different hair." Unless a wig in winter was akin to a hood up, or a hat. Being a girl just sounded so troublesome. Hair care, ten thousand different bath products, times of the month. No thanks.

Of course she had to have him start imaging her exotic self with long hair and braids and ribbons. Dammit, Cami. That'd look pretty cool.." He murmured absently, trying not to think on it too much.

"Can't imagine." He said in regards to Maebe. She had such thick, voluminous hair. As such he didn't care to imagine otherwise.

"Can we not talk about hair anymore?" He was starting to feel like some kind of fetish lover at all these imaginings.

Cami was decidedly intrigued by the idea of a wig which, with her hair as short as it was, wouldn't have been a problem at all. In the Bahamian summer it would be a misery but on outings or evenings when she was done with training and just wanted to hang out? Oh she could go crazy! Otto's request had her raising a bit of an eyebrow but that was generally how things went and so she wasn't really bothered by it.

Otto did have a fetish, though, but it was okay. They shared it and far be it from Cami to judge anyone for what made them tick.

Searching about for something that wasn't related to girls or beauty she landed on something that had been bothering her for a little bit. "Do you think that working too hard is bad?" It was a decided shift, a serious topic, but it had been on her mind. Who better to ask than someone who had been through the system? Who had been Sun and Death.

"Uuuuh.... no? I mean working "too" hard is what keeps you out of trouble mostly." Being Death's errand boy had been a little miserable, but at least it kept idle hands busy.

"If anythin', I ain't got enough to do lately." He felt, well, disposable. Unimportant.

Well that was the stupidest thing Cami had never heard. Otto was lucky he hadn't bothered to voice such a thing because he would have ended up pinned beneath quite a bit of weight as the redhead tried to convince him that he was very important.

Mulling it over she sighed a bit. "I just keep hearing that if you work too hard, make yourself too important, you become a threat. No one cares that you're working hard because it's ridiculous to put too much effort into Deus. Is it really so bad?" Soothing herself as much as Otto Cami had taken up playing with his hair again, letting out a long sigh.

"When I'm better I can find stuff for you to do. Maybe you should pick a few of us baby Suns up and beat the snot out of us or something." She grinned. "Make Maebe guard while you try to pummel me in a friendly, because you love me, sort of way."

"A threat? No.." He'd never heard of that. Ever. Maybe he just couldn't shake his Death training, but not working hard enough was the root of all uselessness. He never had any ideas or plans to further the unknown goals of the Division. Never knew what he was doing.

Nothing new.

"Why not put the effort into Deus? Without this place, we die. So...." Investments.

"That... sounds un fun. But sure. I guess that's a thing I should do." If it was Cami and Maebe, it would be fine. He'd die before he bothered training any other hunters himself.

Settling into the silence of the room Cami started to feel just horrible. Otto's habitual grumpiness became something more, something horrible and intimidating until the woman was unconsciously stiffening beneath his head. Oh it would never be enough to become actually uncomfortable; Cami had enough fat on her bones that even if her every muscle went rigid she'd still be fairly snugglable. Fingers slowly crept back out of his hair and without much warning she curled on her side and tried, as much as possible, to curl up into herself.

Isolation was building its bubble around her again and, for some reason, Camille was letting it happen. Biting at her lip, not wanting to speak up, it shot out of her mouth because thankfully her heart knew better than her brain. "I'm sorry I'm such an idiot."
