In any event, Hanna was sitting cross-legged on the training field, eating the last bites of a hummus sandwich between bites of baby carrots. Waiting.

"For Science!" The call rang out over the training field as Peyton came walking up from somewhere deeper inland. Grinning, she hurried over to where Hanna was finishing up her lunch, sinking down in a crouch beside the other girl. "So how is face punching scientific?" It was probably common knowledge by now that Pey didn't turn down a fight. It just wasn't in her, she was a spitfire, brawling was just in her blood.

A grin sprang to Hanna's face when she heard Peyton's call ringing across the training field. She held out a baby carrot to Peyton, offering one to the Sun Hunter, and then said, "How many punches does it take to get to the center of the Fear shield? I feel like that could be a science fair topic... if Deus made us do science fair." It felt like something that would do. Maybe they'd all get turned back into middle school students and swap sparring for science fair-ing. Nothing was too far-fetched at Deus. Hanna stretched out her legs in front of her and took the last bite of her sandwich. "How've you been, anyway?"

"Ooh snacks. Yes please." The baby carrot was plucked from Hanna's fingers and promptly crunched on before a sudden snort of amusement interrupted her chewing. "You know, that's the sort of science I can really get behind." The grin she offered the Death trainee was borderline wicked. "You think you can handle all this?" She gestured to her own petite self, a brow raised in challenge. To her question the Sun gave a small roll of her shoulders as she stood back up and finished off her baby carrot. "Pretty good," excluded the brawl in the common room. "My sister woke up." She was still pretty giddy about that. "You?"

Carrots crunched between Hanna's teeth in unison with Peyton's, an odd chorus. She tilted her chin up and let the sun beat down on her face. All this time out on the training field, not to mention her recent desert trip, had given the girl a sunny glow. She never thought she was the sunny glow type; it was, to her mind, like adding blacklights to a classic painting. (Hanna thought of herself as a classic, below the surface of self-deprecation.) When the last carrot was gone, Hanna tucked her trash into a bag dangling from a training dummy. Arms stretched above her head, baring an inch of flesh. She glanced over to Peyton as the girl indicated herself. "Probably not." Her skill on the training field was not the stuff of legend. "Truth time -- Cami kicked my a** on her first day out of the pod. Granted, I had only been back for a few days, but... ouch." Hanna laid a hand across her heart. "My pride." Her hands had just begun to remove the bone earrings totem of Adelphe when Peyton casually mentioned her sister waking up. "Wait, WHAT?" Hanna said, quickly closing the distance between them. "Peyton. That is like. Serious s**t. How is she? When? Jesus, I should text more." She totally ignored the follow up question.

"Cami's a pistol, and a Sun," Peyton pointed out reasonably, rising back to her feet and stretching her arms out over her head before drawing all those long, bi-colored curls up into a bouncy pony-tail. Suns carried the reputation of being heavy hitters, and Cami was no exception. As Hanna summoned her partner, Peyton summoned Warrick, squeezing her fingers around the thick rings that made up the handle. It was a little startling when the other girl was suddenly directly in front of her, and it was luck that kept her from simply reacting to what could have been an opening attack with answering violence. Instead she'd put a hand out to catch the other girl by the shoulder, eyes gone wide, as what she'd been saying sank in. It was serious s**t, she agreed, but it had also been a few weeks now. "She's doing fine, settling in well. Woke up just after everyone left for that tower mission." She hadn't advertised Astrid's wake up, at least not publicly. There had been a handful of people she'd contacted directly about it, but again, they'd all been on a dangerous mission. It had been more or less quiet since, which Peyton was very grateful for. "Now come on, I thought we were gunna fight!" A grin flashed, and she backed away from the Death, sinking into a ready crouch. "In the name of science, remember?"

Adelphe surged to life in her hands, but Hanna was still staring wide-eyed at Peyton. Her sister was a Hunter now, holy s**t. She took a step further back to give the other Hunter more space. "That's good, I'll have to meet her," she said, giving The Lady a few warm up swings. "I have no idea how I would feel in your shoes. If suddenly my twin sisters came strolling out of a pod." She tried to picture them, but the image wouldn't come. "Nah, doubt it. They would never put down their cell phones long enough to pay attention to the world around them. I can't see Deus ever wanting them." Pacing a bit farther away, Hanna shook her head. "All right, Sun," she said. "You can commence to kicking my a** now. We should really have a gong out here. Ring it when battle begins, add some drama." Instead, Hanna made a gong sound. Gong-adjacent.

Pey flashed Hanna a bright grin. "Yes, definitely." She wanted to introduce Astrid to all her friends, but thus far the younger Creedy was taking things slow and easy, and the elder was not going to push her. But when she was ready, Pey was confident Assy would love Hanna, and America, and everyone else the dainty Sun considered a a friend.
"it's kind of a mixed blessing, having a family member here. Specially one that wakes up after you." Otto had been easy. He was a full Hunter before Peyton had made it to the island and she hadn't known they were cousins until the beginning of this year. Discovering Astrid was on Deus had been a slightly more traumatic experience that had left Peyton in a funk for weeks on end. now that she was awake things were going just dandy, but she was still waiting for the other shoe to drop. Eventually they would have a mission that was all hands on deck, and she'd have to let Astrid put herself in danger. Peyton was not ready for that. No sir.

Hanna appeared armed and dangerous, and Peyton gave a bright, excited smile to the other girl, lifting a hand up to give the universal finger twitch of 'come get sum'. A rank above the other girl, Peyton had an advantage, so she'd give Hanna dips on the first shot. Seemed fair. HP: 50 DMG: 0 CHG: 0/3

Peyton would have probably had the advantage in the fight, even if the two girls were the same rank. Hanna had many lovely qualities, but straight up battle prowess was not one of them. She was tactical at best and was still trying to fall into her groove with Adelphe. “I am pretty sure your excitement about this fight means my a** is about to be handed to me,” she said, twirling her twin blade once over her hand. “I will do my best to make it as difficult as possible for you.” With a wink, Hanna feinted left and then charged right, aiming an uppercut slash at Peyton’s right side. It hit true and then she slammed an elbow down as she ran past, trying to keep up her momentum. The strike felt really, really successful, and for a moment, Hanna wondered if Peyton was taking it easy on her. HP: 40/40 DMG: 9 CHG: 1/3

Peyton, taking it easy on someone? Not likely. Maybe against Astrid, or Mik, but there was a certain overly protective streak where they were concerned that just didn't extend to the rest of her inner circle. She cared for them all, but they just didn't strike her radar as victim. It wasn't a fair assessment, but it was true. She flashed a grin at Hanna's prediction, going for a slice of innocence that just straight up failed. "What? Nooooo." Then Hanna was moving, charging forward to trace a painful line up her side with a wicked blade before hurrying past in a bid to remove herself from easy reach. It pulled a hiss from Peyton's lips, but she moved through the pain that would have been so much worse without her shield. Pivoting, she turned quickly enough to throw her left fist out in a wild swing to drove the point of her blade into Hanna's arm before she could reclaim the relative safety of distance. HP: 41 DMG: 9 CHG: 1/3

Peyton's strike was incredibly effective, and Hanna's arms bent painfully in her grasp. The Fear shield kept most of it at bay. Nonetheless, the sensation was still painful. "That's my swinging arm," she said, trying to make light of it. Peyton was already moving away to a safe distance. Hanna gave chase, lashing forward with Adelphe to try and catch the tiny retreating Sun but managing only to clip her ankle. HP: 31/40 DMG: 3 CHG: 2/3

Pey flashed Hanna a fierce, challenging smile. "That's the point." Incapacitate, and dominate. That was the name of the game. She streaked in again, taking a quick jab at the other woman that wound up hitting the broad edge of one of Hanna's blades. With a grimace she bounced back and away. HP: 38 DMG: nada CHG: 1/3

Hanna matched her grin, pushing back from the girl when their weapons collided. "So then I guess I should return the favor?" she said, dropping low and jutting the back end of her twinblade up at Peyton's arm. Her foot slipped; she barely nicked the Sun. "Or, you know... maybe not," Hanna said, shaking her head at herself and jumping backward to try and avoid a counterattack. HP: 31/40 DMG: 1 CHG: 3/3

"You should, definitely." She dashed in as Hanna's balance escaped her, taking advantage by driving tiny fists into the poor trainee's sides. First the left, then the right. "If you don't, it's going to be a very one-sided fight." She hopped back again, bouncing in place, shaking her arms out. "So how many punches are we at now? For science?" HP: 37 DMG: 10 CHG: 2/3
