Molly was there, back at the training grounds, because she really wanted that promotion. Like bad. Like so bad. So there she was, standing, hands clasped over her stomach and just looking oh so wide eyed and hopeful. Though she didn't say it out loud, it was clear by her body language and look on her face that she wanted to spar someone. She was just really shy at asking.

Molly wasn't the only one hungry for promotion. The redheaded Death Hunter had been patrolling the grounds like a drug addict looking for a fix. When she spotted a similar twinkle in the other girl's eyes, she was on her in a flash. "Looking to spar?" she said, indicating the field. "I mean, if you would, I would. So. We could. You know." It was like asking someone on a date.

Not that Molly knew what it was like...asking someone on a date, but there was just so much relief on the girl's face when another approached her. "Yes!" She exclaimed, probably way too quickly. She looked a bit sheepish, but nodded her head vigorously regardless. "I'd love to!" She cried. "Thank you so much!" Now that the anxiety of securing a partner was out of the way, Molly took some steps back, and summoned her monster lance. "R-ready whenever you are!" She gasped. "Oh, I'm so sorry! My name is Molly!"

Following Molly's lead, Hanna summoned her own weapon -- a long, curved twinblade. "Hanna," she said, nodding to the other girl. Adrenaline began to bubble in her stomach, but a grin split her face. Hanna might not be a Sun Hunter yet she still got a certain thrill when a fight was upon her, especially a safe one like a spar that didn't pose any real danger. "All right!" she said, chasing her words with her footsteps and aiming a slash across Molly's midsection. HP: 40/40

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Hanna!" Molly chirped with a small smile, settling into her usual stance as she cradled her over-sized weapon against her side. It'd been a while since she had sparred a stranger for the most part, so Molly was a wee bit hesitant to make the first strike. But Hanna went ahead and got that nervousness out of the way for her. After the trainee delivered that blow to her mid-section, Molly took some steps back and lowered her lance. She then thrust it at the trainee, piercing her shield. HP: 46 / 50

The trainee was so excited about the success of her own attack that she completely forgot about, you know, defense. The lance pierced through her, and she yelped, in spite of herself. It would never be totally natural to see something stab through her and then slide back out, bloodless. Still, Hanna staggered backwards, gripping her stomach. "Nice hit," she said, rubbing awkwardly at the spot. It threw her. Which sucked. If this had happened in a real battle, she could be dead by now. Despite this girl's shy aura, Molly was clearly the Real Deal, at least to Hanna's eyes. Stepping to the side, Hanna pulled The Lady back and attempted a side strike instead. Her footing wasn't optimal, and it ended up being more of a glancing blow than anything serious. "Clearly I could learn from you," she added, backpedaling. HP: 28/40

Molly startled when Hanna yelped. She knew it was a spar, but it'd just been a while, so she looked concerned. "Are you alright?" She asked, fretting, and wincing as Hanna made another strike at her. As Hanna back pedaled, Molly swung her lance at her, just barely clipping her. She then looked rather embarrassed that someone wanted to be her kouhai. "Oh, I'm really flattered, but there's lots of other hunters to learn from that are way better!" She held onto her lance and rubbed the back of her neck with her other hand. Never used to compliments. She just wasn't. "How long have you been awake for, Hanna?" HP: 43 / 50

A sheepish look crossed Hanna's face when Molly apologized. Ah, she didn't want to be pitied, but she probably shouldn't have yelped either. It was a weak, stupid thing for her to do. The Death Hunter was happy that Molly seemed like a nice person; she probably wouldn't hold it against her. "I'm okay," she said, parrying back with a strike but missing completely. Hanna welcomed the break in the flow of battle, adjusting her grip on The Lady. "Which time?" she said, laughing darkly. "I was first defrosted in 2011... Then put back in for, oh, two and a half years. I've been back for maybe three months now? Something like that." A shrug rolled off her shoulders. She was no longer as insecure about telling people this detail about herself. They could think her defective if they wanted; she planned to show them all the opposite once she got her promotion. HP: 27/40

"Oh good, I'm glad!" Molly was able to dodge the parry, and returned with a strike of her own, just managing to clip Hanna once again. Her brows furrowed briefly as Hanna told her the circumstances, before her brows loosened and she smiled. "Well, I'm so glad you're back with us! That happened to one of my good friends, as well!" She left it at that, not really knowing what else to say on that matter, and noted that her weapon was humming as it was charged. HP: 43 / 50

Molly's strike earned a wince from Hanna and a slightly wider berth on the battlefield. She could feel her Fear shield being hacked away at with each successful blow -- and Molly was full of them. Each blow felt sharper, more real. That could not bode well for the duration of this fight, or Hanna's ego. "Yeah, going back in the pod is weirdly routine," she said, mostly for her own benefit. Hanna varied on a daily basis with her confidence on that note. Part of her wanted to hide it forever, part of her wanted to best anyone who looked down on her for it. Molly didn't seem to judge her for it, which was good because the odds were looking pretty slim that Hanna was going to best her. Closing the distance, Hanna attempted to swipe Adelphe across the other Hunter's legs, but her aim was off and the blade clipped the grass instead, catching and veering totally off course. Adelphe took Hanna with her, both weapon and Hunter falling awkwardly forward. "Embarrassing," Hanna murmured, hurrying to her feet as best she could. HP: 24/40 Damage: 0 Charge: 2/3

Molly thought that was better then say...something else that was really bad. In a weird way, she was glad Jeremy had been podded...if only that she could have met him at the time she did. There were good things in every situation! She thought, or hoped, anyways. Molly couldn't move quick with her weapon, so she slowly stepped back and around as Hanna moved, but ended up missing. After Hanna's strike, the runes on Molly's weapon grew brighter, and the drill bit of her lance started to spin. It let out a metallic scream as it rapidly spun, and she pulled back her weapon before thrusting it, piercing the trainee's shield. HP: 43 / 50

The entire battle had Hanna on the defense, stumbling backward and attempting to keep up. She was just a trainee so it wasn't like she expected to win, but she was getting her a** kicked. The banter was nice too, but when the runes on her weapon grew and began to spin, Hanna felt the pit of her stomach drop. "Wait--" she began to say, but it was too late. The spinning drill pierced and shattered her Fear shield, which allowed Hanna the horrific flash of feeling of her skin being shredded and insides swirled as the dampener kicked on and prevented a true injury from occurring. Adelphe snarled in her head. The pain, however, was there, and Hanna collapsed to the ground, clutching her chest and wheezing. It was, without a doubt, the worst loss she had ever suffered on these grounds. She could feel fatigue and shock radiating her limbs. "Hah hah," she 'laughed' with each syllable forced and pained. "You destroyed me." It was... an understatement. Hanna was still in a somewhat fetal position on the ground and didn't seem ready to stand just yet. lucyal Oh god, poor Hanna. Molly has officially handed her the WORST ASSKICKING EVER.

Molly de-summoned her weapon as soon as she released her charged attack. A few years of doing this had given her a feel for when a spar was over...well, that and mother instinct. She was immediately making her way over to Hanna right after, her brows knitted in concern. "Ah...are you alright?" She bent a bit at the knees, and offered a gloved hand to the trainee. "It was a good fight though! Practice is practice!" She smiled. "Maybe you're just a bit rusty from sleeping!" She encouraged.

Oh, god, now the person who had destroyed her in battle was showing concern, which read to Hanna as pity. Her pride. It ached. Golden eyes stared at Molly's outstretched hand like it was made of fire. "I think I'm, uh, I'm going to just relax here on the ground for a second. Yep, ground feels excellent right about now." The idea of actually getting up seemed like a recipe for more pain. Hanna forced a smile with a wince. "I think I was more of a meat target than an opponent, but thanks," she said, attempting to not sound thoroughly deflated but failing miserably. "You're... really good. Do you lay people out like this a lot?" The Death trainee hoped she was extraordinarily good, honestly, anything to get rid of the embarrassment she currently felt.

"Oh..." Molly blinked and stared down at Hanna for a moment before she retracted her hand. She then settled onto the ground next to the trainee, pulling her knees up and resting her hands on top of them. She looked over at the girl and laughed a bit, before waving a hand. "Oh, no, goodness! You're more than a meat target! It was a good match, and I got to meet someone new!" She then blinked and stared up at the sky as she thought about it. "Oh...thank you...um..." Her brows furrowed in thought. "...I've been knocking over a lot of people out recently...it's very concerning!" She frowned, and then looked back at Hanna. "I'm almost close to being promoted to full Hunter...so maybe that has something to do with it?" Obviously.
