Molly was there, back at the training grounds, because she really wanted that promotion. Like bad. Like so bad. So there she was, standing, hands clasped over her stomach and just looking oh so wide eyed and hopeful. Though she didn't say it out loud, it was clear by her body language and look on her face that she wanted to spar someone. She was just really shy at asking.

Evan passed by the training fields as part of his jogging route around the island. He hadn't given much thought to the girl standing there the first time he had passed her, figuring maybe she was just waiting for someone. Maybe they were running late, he wondered the second time he had passed her and she was still there by herself. The third time around, he had just felt kind of bad for her--it looked like she had gotten stood up. When she was still there on his fourth circuit, looking like a sad little puppy eager for someone to play with, he gave in to his curiosity, veering towards her instead of continuing on. "You've been out here a while," Evan commented as he slowed to a stop in front of her, slightly out of breath from his run. "I've gotta know: what are you waiting for?"

When Evan came to a stop before her, Molly snapped out of the daze she had been in. Oh! The trainee blinked and then stared at the young man in front of her. "Oh? Have I--" She blinked some more, and then laughed, a bit embarrassed. "Oh, yes! I have been out here for a while." Waiting and day dreaming. So stuck in day dreaming she hadn't even noticed Evan running laps. Molly gasped. "Oh! A spar partner!" She smiled. "I'm waiting to see if anyone needs a spar partner...because I'm free to spar!"

It was heartening to see people actively looking for spars, but equally disheartening to see that she had been out here for so long without anyone taking her up on one. Evan himself wasn't crazy about sparring against girls, but she had been out here longer than he had and he would feel bad about making her wait longer, and he had been proven wrong before, besides. "I'd be happy to let you smack me around for a while, Miss...?"

Molly was practically sparkling at Evan. "Oh, goodness, I hope I wouldn't smack you around!" She seemed horrified at the thought, but super excited for the spar regardless. "Oh, yes! I'm sorry! My name is Molly! It's so nice to meet you...?" As she did her introduction, she backed away from the trainee and summoned her weapon.

Goodness, indeed. As if fighting against girls didn't make Evan feel bad enough, Molly had to go and be as happy and exuberant and adorable as a basket full of puppies. Well, he would take it easy and keep a watchful eye on her in case she showed any kind of distress. "Evan," he replied with a warm smile. "It's nice to meet you too, Miss Molly." And then she summoned her weapon, stunning him into silence. His eyebrows rose into his hairline as he took in the massive lance, the incongruity of the tiny Huntress and her giant weapon not something he had expected to see. He whistled, impressed, and took several steps back, summoning his own weapon. "Ladies first," he said, bracing himself for her attack.

"It's nice to meet you, Evan!" Molly replied in earnest, pretty happy that with all this sparring she'd been doing that she was meeting new people. She then started a bit, and waved a hand. "Oh, no Miss! Just Molly is fine!" She waited until he summoned his weapon, and she gasped, delighted. "It looks so cool!" Always excited to see new weapons! She was probably still too impressed as she struck at Evan and...barely managed to hit him. HP: 50 / 50

"'Good golly, just Molly' doesn't have quite the same ring to it, but if you insist, just Molly it is," Evan replied with a wink. He used his sword to push at the lance as it grazed against his shield, not at all eager to get that up close and personal with it, regardless of how awesome it looked. Gir preened at the compliment, and Evan grinned. "Thanks--I like yours, too. How does such a little thing like you drag such a big thing like that around, just Molly?" "I--" She blinked and stared at the trainee. "...Huh?" She also may have gotten a bit flustered when he winked. Was she being teased? She wasn't sure...but now she was locked with her weapon against his, and this was new! She focused to put pressure back against Evan and his weapon. "Oh! Um...it's not hard at all!" Molly was a bit distracted. "Weapon bond...but also training!" She smiled a bit awkwardly. "You make it look really easy too! Like cutting butter!" HP: 45 / 50

Molly was stronger than she looked, and Evan made the mistake of underestimating her as he tried to use his longer reach to his advantage and got her weapon in his ribs for his trouble. It pulled a surprised grunt from him, and he looked at Molly, perplexed. "Cutting butter?" he asked, confused by her meaning. HP: 46/50 Damage: slow clap gj Charge: 1/3; 1/1, 1/1

Molly took some steps back after, wanting to put some distance between herself and Evan gain. "Yes! Like...um...your weapon can cut through things easily...like a knife through butter! Really smooth?" She hoped that made more sense. She hoped. The trainee lowered her weapon again and pierced Evan's shield. HP: 45 / 50

"Oh, okay, that makes--" and then the wind was knocked out of Evan as Molly stabbed at him with her ridiculously large weapon, getting him right in the stomach. He wheezed and flailed as he staggered backwards and tried to keep his feet beneath him, smacking Molly more by accident than anything else. HP: 35/50 Damage: 6 Charge: 1/3; 1/1, 1/1

"Oh good, I'm glad!" Molly chirped, and raised her weapon. The runes glowed brighter and the drill bit of her weapon started to whirl, letting out a metallic scream. She then charged Evan again, unleashing her charged attack on the trainee. HP: 39 / 50

Granted, it wasn't the first time Evan had underestimated an opponent just because they were smaller than him, but it was the first time he had gotten his a** so thoroughly kicked for it. Molly's attack knocked Evan right off his feet, leaving him blinking, bruised and perplexed, up at the clear blue sky wondering what the hell had just happened. When he was finally able to sit up, he squinted at Molly in good-natured suspicion. "Hope you wouldn't smack me around, huh? I bet you say that to all the guys you smack around," he teased. Molly looked horrified, for multiple reasons. One, she had thrown Evan onto the ground, and the rate at which she was knocking people off their feet was becoming alarming. Two, he was squinting at her and teasing once again, which she took to heart. "Ah!" She waved a hand vigorously. "No! I don't! I swear!" The trainee was rather flustered, and in her state ended up whacking Evan again. "I'M SO SORRY!" HP: 39 / 50
