Ami had returned from her lovely excursion, but had yet to tell anyone- even Lex- the details. She made it very clear that she didn't intend to, nor let on whether or not it bothered her.

Instead, she threw her all into her work. With Dr. H's approval, she'd cleaned the lab-

No, that wasn't right.

With Dr. H's approval she'd gotten someone else to clean the lab. It had taken a few useless lab technicians to get the electricity and other ameneties working, but with sheer willpower (rather, with a bunch of blackmail and conniving bitchery), Ami had successfully cleared the labs for actual functional use.

Which meant that now, she needed actual test subjects. But hell if Ami was getting her hands dirty.

Text to Lex: Report to Lab 3B06. Now.

If they were doing something important, Ami couldn't care less, because clearly her project was more important. If they sent any texts in response, they went completely unnoticed because Ami was far too important and far too busy to give a s**t about a vibrating phone. Instead, when Lex and Evan arrived they would find her casually throwing a set of dissecting scissors, scalpels and more little tools into a minipet, which had been nailed to a lab wall with a set of runic daggers.

For science.

Ami got a certain kind of consideration that no other non-lead Hunter on the island got from Evan, not only because she had been the one to lead him from the pods into his new life, but because she was genuinely a little bit terrifying and he didn't want to know what would happen if he pissed her off. When Ami said "jump," he didn't bother to ask how high--he just jumped as high as he could and hoped it was good enough for her.

Luckily, Evan hadn't been doing anything that couldn't have waited when he got the text. It took him a few extra minutes to find someone who knew how to get to the basement below the basement below the basement, but he made it there as quickly as he could. When he arrived, he was unsurprised to see Ami torturing a defenseless minipet--it wasn't like it was a real animal, and better it than him anyway. He was more interested in her technique, but refrained from commenting. "Ma'am," he said instead by way of greeting.

Lex was never too busy to do Ami's bidding. She hand't said much about anything when she finally returned, but that was the norm. He'd gotten back to his translating work, also reading more on psychology, and doing infirmary shifts whenever needed. Training with a trainee, avoiding Stormy like the plague, et cetera.

He'd arrived shortly after Evan, giving the Hunter a nod of acknowledgement before snapping into an even more upright posture than usual, hands clasped behind his back as he watched Ami torture a minipet. Much like Evan, Lex was just glad it wasn't him.

He cleared his throat, not needing anymore introduction. She'd recognize it.

Ami turned at Evan's introduction, but faced the minipet once more, speaking without looking at them. "Fascinating, you know. This creature can withstand up to seven tools within its abdomen. Perhaps it's core is located outside of the chest area, unlike humans and most mammals?" She threw one more pair of scissors, this time landing the creature's head. This time it exploded and melted, as all minipets did when outside of FEAR containment areas. It had survived thusfar because of the quarantine area it was in, but now that its cored was disrupted, it had nowhere left to go.

It was then that she turned to the boys, marking down something on her clipboard (mostly something like "get useless trainees to clean up supplies tacked to wall") and said, "I'm going to catch some creatures. I could do this on my own, of course-" No, no she really couldn't. Ami was very weak when it came to fighting. "-But I need someone to lift them back."

Yes, she was literally asking you to be pack mules. "There is more to it than that, of course, but I'm required to inform you of the premise, as is socially acceptable."

Evan himself preferred to go for the vulnerable throat whenever he had the chance, but he was sure this was just part of Ami's research. He watched, morbidly curious, as it exploded, and decided that if those were the results of a head shot, he'd have to start aiming a little higher.

He listened attentively to the mission objectives, fighting back the urge to ask if they were going to be shot at and/or blown up and/or poisoned this time. Doing Ami's heavy lifting wasn't anything new for him. "Catch, Ma'am?" He asked, confused. "Not..." he trailed off, looking pointedly at the goo dripping down the wall.

Lex was very glad Ami had these minipets to take her frustrations out on. Er, her experimental curiosity. Yes, that was the term he'd use. If he called it frustration, she'd probably begin throwing scalpels at him.

Catching? Well, that was certainly an interesting concept. They usually just killed the beasts - or lured them into becoming Weapons. Lex still hadn't seen that, and frankly he didn't want to. He was here to hunt, not convert. One could not bring a demon penance.

"Catch... as in trap? Isn't that more a Death specialty?" He ventured, fingers still locked behind his back. It was a stupid question, one that'd probably get a verbal reaming, but whatever. He was used to it. "Though I suppose if by 'trap' you mean beating them unconscious, then I do see why you've brought Evan along." He actually smiled at that one, giving the other man a small smile and wink.

"Stop talking," she silenced both of them. "Yes. Catching. And no Evan, not killing. You cannot experiment on something that is dead." The words you ******** idiots seemed to trail in the air after the sentence, but none were added. She stared between the two of them, wondering what the wink was about. Men were ******** bizarre to her.

She moved to open a small closet, which contained two of the standard capture guns, and a single white coat. The two guns were handed to Lex and Evan, in turn, while she hung up her own coat, exchanging it for her original trainee coat. "I will be posing as a helpless trainee for distraction, while you two will fire those capture nets."

From her pocket she withdrew three enormous red glowing pendants. Her eyes informed them that no you don't get to touch these. "These are control pendants. Once slipped around their necks, they are helpless and must obey the command of the one holding the matching pendant." Which was, of course, Ami. "Any questions."

For once, Ami actually did seem to be inviting questions.

Lex always was enthralled by how methodical and seemingly telepathic the woman was. He knew it really just boiled down to a huge store of logic and critical thinking, but sometimes he still found it near supernatural. Just like her ability to be condescending and patronizing to anyone and everyone that wasn't H, despite any factor but rank.

Questions. He put the capture gun away, holstering it in the belt it came with. "What type of creatures, exactly? How can we be sure they'll take you as bait? What's our plan B?" Lex fired off, making some adjustments to the holster belt. Because Ami, being Ami, had to have a pln B, C, D, E, and probably even and F.

Evan was deeply disappointed that he wouldn't get to kill anything, expressed with a frown that was not quite an outright pout. "Yes, Ma'am," he said with a sigh, examining the gun Ami handed him. Lex's mention of beating the monsters unconscious did bring to mind a question. "What kind of condition do they have to be in when we capture them, other than alive?" Can we kill them just a little bit?

To Evan's question, she promptly said, "Untouched." There was a thick moment of silence, and then she added, "But you may kill anything I deem unworthy of study."

To Lex, she said, "Demons, for the most part, but anything else I find interesting. Essentially, it is to my discretion." She knew the man would find joy in the demon hunting as it was why he had joined in the first place, but she dared not indulge him lest he actually feel joy for a moment. "Because that which is out of the ordinary is desirable," she continued, "Even if they choose not to attack me, a hunter will not go unnoticed or ignored." Obviously. Even if they were friendly with her, they just needed to get the demons close enough to capture. "Our plan B is merely to abandon the capture and kill on sight, which I'm sure will give you-" she looked to Evan, "-Satisfaction. Then we will simply return another day. But the chances of that happening are very, very low statistically."

Lex was only wrong on one account, and that was that Ami would have thought up a plan C, D, E and F. If only because having more plans than A and B was simply inefficient, lazy, and meant your first plan wasn't very good in the first place. Ami left no room for error.

Hope sprung eternal: maybe they would find a lot of unsuitable subjects before finding just the right one. It would certainly make him feel better about being asked along just to do the heavy lifting, at any rate. "How close do you want us to let them get to you before we capture it? If it doesn't attack, do you want to see if the pendant will work first?"

Lex did get a bit of a thrill from the concept of Demon hunting, though he'd rather it be slaying, but when Ami essentially said 'or whatever i ******** please', his grin dropped by a hair. That could literally mean anything. She could see a ghost that looked demonic and want it captured. Or another fifty mini pets for 'scientific experimentation.' He sighed a little inside, knowing he'd never be given the full satisfaction of demon eradication. Not by Ami, at least.

"Sounds simple enough. Though, you've only got three pendants... what happens if we find more than two interesting specimens?"

Ami was now reaching that point where there were too many questions. "Just shoot your toy when you feel it is necessary. I am not going to tell your finger when to fire the trigger, Mr. Roberts."

To Lex's question, she just stared as though he'd asked her what her name was. She then moved to the closet, opened and drawer and turned it upside down. Nearly twenty pendants came cascading out of the drawer, which she calmly stepped over and kicked back into the closet, making herself a mental note to tell the trainee- the one named ... something with a K- to pick that up later.

"Are you two playing twenty questions or is there actually knowledge that you seek?" she asked them harshly.

"Just trying to make sure we get what you're after, Ma'am," Evan assured Ami. While he was kind of curious to see what would happen if he kept asking dumb questions, he remembered what she had done to the still-dripping minipet before she had killed it. "I'm ready whenever you two are."

Oh. No s**t, Sherlock. Of course she would have more than two; this was Aim, after all. He needed to take off his captain obvious hat.

Lex nodded in agreement with Evan, going back to full parade posture. Again, the dribbles of that minipet served as a constant warning to not ******** with her. "Just wanting to get a full grasp on the situation." He cleared his throat, careful not to say 'dear' at the end of the sentence.

"Tell us go and we will."
