Sitara walked slowly down the street of a quaint little neighborhood, filled with two story homes that spoke to money, but big fenced yards and children's toys that spoke more to families then just the single and wealthy. That was good, because those she tended to look for, while they did not often appreciate it, tended to be children. It was early morning, light still golden and crisp and glinting off her jewelry, but still filled with that soft warmth of early summer.
She had felt a flash of intuition, and shivering of power down her spine that made her tail twitch with excitement... She was going in the right direction, but as quickly as the feeling was there, it was gone. The delicate little Egyptian Mau frowned, and sat on the ground, concentrating, but unfortunately, she couldn't sense a senshi anywhere near. Oh how disappointing.
She paused, and then pranced forward a few steps, launching herself to perch prettily on a small garden wall, almost like she was posing in front of the early summer blooms. But really she was deep in thought. It was to early for school busses, she had passed very few cats, but no one noticeable had driver by when she felt that flash of rightness. She had seen no senshi at all. In fact it was a little disappointing. But then again no senshi in their right mind would get on a buss, public or otherwise powered up in their fuku.
Her tail curled around her feet, and she spared a glance into the yard lined by the small garden fence that she sat on, and met a pair of eyes. A large pair of eyes. Set in a giant furry head larger then her whole body. Good god what sort of dog was it?
The large monster of a beast gave a big goofy doggy grin, giving a soft woof as it lumbered to its paws, giving a sweet little whine.
" HAAAAAAAAAAAMMYYYYYYYYYY ' the high-pitched call of a young girl rang out from the house. "BREEEEEEEEEAAAAAAKFAAAAAAAAST! " Sitara peeked around the colorfull edges of a foxglove plant, just in time to see a tiny freckled covered face peek out from the lower open half of a pair of dutch doors.
The dog, apparently who's name was Hammy looked over to his teeny tiny owner, who could not have been more then 9 or 10 by sitara's estimate, and gave another soft wuff, its tail wagging so hard its whole hind end shook with the force of it.
" ITS YOUR FAVORITE! Lucky Charms and left over Hamburger Helper!! Of you don't hurry Doombringer is going to eat all your marshmallows!" And with that the little pixy face held between a riot of dark curls disappeared to the chorus of clattering dishes and noisy kitchen sounds that would hadn't made her wince... if the big dog hadn't turned its attention back to her, giving another happy whine and wagging its tail.
" Oh now... hammy... go back to your mama. " Sitara spoke soothingly, her voice edged with a faint accent that made her voice a pleasant lilt.
Hammy stepped a few steps closer, giving her a big grin, tongue lolling out the side of her face as dogs often do when they are happy balls of fur. It gave a woof.
" Oh no, you just stay there. " She frowned slightly.
If stepped closer, wuffing and whining.
" No, stay hammy. " Sitara stood up, her back arching slightly like cats tended to do in warning.
whine whine. wuff. tail wag.
And then suddenly the dog, who if it stood on its hind legs was probably just as tall as an average man, if not large, gave Sitara a very undignified lick with a washrag sized tongue that pulled her glittering veil from its holds, and left half of her fur slicked standing straight up and sopping wet in one single stroke.
" I said no! Stay! " Sitara packed away, tail straight up in the air and back arched, now soggy and ruffled. And then hammy loomed over her and lowered its head, so big that even as Sitara started to scamper away one of its large teeth caught her necklace and it snapped, sending beads and sparkling bits of metal all over the ground. It had tried to pick her up.
Like... Like... like a puppy. Like it was used to picking up smaller animals who probably didn't want to be picked up. Because even as Sitara gave a soft hiss, hammy simply lumbered over, still giving that goofy dog grin, and tried to pick her up again.
" Oh by all the gods, STAY " and with that, Sitara took off at a run. Only the dog, apparently thought it was all part of the game, because with a joyous bark, it took off after her.
Sitara put her speed to the test, she zigged and zagged, weaving through obstacles, but the giant dogs size belied its speed, because it kept up with her, barking happily, paws thudding on the ground so hard that the feline swore she could feel them through her own paws. And apparently, she shouldn't have even bothered trying to put things in their paths, because the dog simply charged through them like a giant furry wrecking ball. Garbage cans were upended, throwing their contense to the sky, some of it (much to Sitara's horror ) landing on her and sullying her coat. Boxs were sent skidding through alleys, and even a few people were sent having to dive off of the sidewalks or back into doors that they had just opened into alleyways.
The chase continued out of the residential district, and into the smaller shopping district that was nearby. Sitara turned and darted down a back alley, and skidded to a haul when one restaurant owner, carrying a bucket of bubbley but completely filthy mop water opened a door. Sitara couldn't dark around him, because taking up most of the delivery alley was a large semi, with its loading dock down, so she could not dart underneath it.
Sitara turned to dart the other way, sure that with her small size she could simply slide underneath the steps to one of the other establishments. A large van, or maybe a small truck? Pulled into the end of the alley, catching sitara's attention. ASPCA Destiny City. Someone called animal control? Oh good god, with the commotion they had been making it didn't surprise her.
Her attention was taken for just a moment. But the moment was enough. Hammy, being several hundred pounds of dogs at a full run, crashed right into the shop owner, the bucket of nasty mop water spiraling through the air, and landing right on sitara. Bucket upside down, like a bug trapped underneath a cup.
Sitara sputtered and coughed, soaked through, as suddenly the bucket was pulled off of her and a small metal collar attached to a poll looped around her neck. She only kept herself from yelling at the man by a brief second, instead hissing and attempting to get away, which only succeeded by the animal control human pulling her towards the van, dragging her across the alley through alley way dirt and debree, bits and pieces sticking to her sopping wet and now filthy fur. Through her hissing and sudden complete and utter HATERED of the stick wielding human, she heard the restaurant owner say " Oh no, don't worry... I know were this one lives.... Oh yeah don't worry, Ill take her home, sorry for the trouble! " and saw the restaurant owner giving hammy a loving scratch to the ears, the dog only spareing a momentary worfull glance at her before returning her attentions to the human who was petting her.
The next thing she new, she was placed unceremoniously into a small metal box, and in the back of a van going god only knows were.

Today the ASPCA was getting a few animal transfers. This was on top of the animals that were caught locally, and Lance could already hear the truck backing up and carts being moved to the loading bay. He followed the crowd, ready to help separate the animal crates into groups. Dogs in one group, cats another and smaller animals such as rabbits, hamsters and the like in their own group. Thankfully they didn't get birds at this shelter. The second he walked through the door, a small crate was shoved in his arms as he watched the driver cover his ears with complaints on how loud the creature inside had been whining. Lance just blinked, peering through the holes on the side to look at the creature. Oh well.. Better check her over. Walking into an open exam room, the blonde set the box on the table before opening the door. Gently he tapped his fingers against the table, hoping the noise would catch the cat's curiosity and coax her out. "Come on sweetheart... It's just you and me now." He walked away for a moment to turn on the sinks tap and gather some of the bath supplies. Given how loud the poor cat had apparently been, Lance figured the smaller sink would be better then the giant daunting one in the back room. Less space for her to try and climb out off and at the same time there was no one else in the room besides him, so maybe the cat would relax. He turned to find the copper colored kitty sniffing at the table. "That's a good girl..." Lance cooed as he gently scooped her up and checked her over. "You don't look too bad.. Just dirty.." He was about to change this. "Now, don't get mad at me for this alright? I've got to get your fur clean." Lance said as he twisted the cat around and held her to eye level. "It's warm and I'll try to make it as quick as possible okay? So... try not to claw my arms up too much." Gingerly he lowered her into the water and waited, and when it seemed like nothing would happen, only then did Lance move on to running water over the cats back. He then moved on the a flee and tick shampoo. He ran his fingers through her fur, making small circles as he went from shoulders to tail and to tail and back again. When he was done with that, he moved on to her head. Here he was more careful, as not to get any of the soapy water in her ears and cause an infection. He was not, however, expecting a chunk of dirt to detach from from her fur and reveal a dark teal shaped star. Lance froze for a moment staring at it. Stars meant one thing and one thing only. Mauvian. "Great... You are so not gonna be happy with me in a minute." Lance sighed as he set about washing the cat off as fast as he could. Grabbing a towel he wrapped her in it, scrubbing at her fur to help dry it before fishing around for some sort of gauze or bandage. "You need to keep this on. Do not try to take it off. It's for both of our sakes alright?" He said quietly, knowing full well the cat could understand him. When he was done, he grabbed the towel clad cat up, holding her up by his shoulder as he left the room. Great... this was going to be fun. How do you get a Mauvian out of the SPCA?

Particularly with classes being out and him being between productions, Alistair made plenty of time to visit Lance at the shelter. He wasn't an official volunteer, or anything, but it was certainly a good way to spend his afternoons.
He pushed the door to the front of the SPCA open, and gave a smile to the girl behind the desk. "Is Lance here?" He asked.
"Taking care of a cat that recently came in," she said, "in the back." Alistair thanked her and ducked back, looking around for his boyfriend. It took him a while to finally spot him, but there he was, holding a cat in his arms. He walked over, a grin on his face. Were it not for the cat, he would likely have given his boyfriend a hello kiss - alas.
"So who is this lovely feline?" He asked, a slight frown on his face as he gently brushed his fingers over her fur. "Poor thing, is she injured?"

Good thing for Alistair that Lance was mostly a creature of habit, so the first thing he did when Alistair came over was to duck his head down and kiss his boyfriend's cheek. "Uhm. Not exactly no. Damp mostly and none too pleased about being kept in the towel." Lance said as he pried the cat from his shoulder so Alistair could see her better. "The bandage however..." His words trailed off as he pulled the edge back so the teal shaped star could peak out. "... Hope you like cats, cause uhm. She's coming home with one of us." Lance looked down at the cat in his arms... Aaron should have no problem with her.. She wasn't that big. Keeping a hold on the feline, Lance strode towards the front desk, only passing the feline off to Alistair as he disappeared behind the counter to find the necessary paperwork. "Fostering another one Lance?" A coworker spoke up, causing the tall blonde to lurch in surprise. He fumbled, trying to catch the papers before he dropped em. "Uhm... Kinda? Though.. I think I might keep this one?" Lance laughed nervously when his coworker blinked at him. "I was bound to keep one eventually right??"

The van ride had not been pleasant. It wasn't really meant to be, but being in a cage that wasn't really secured down well meant the cage had slid a little bit with every turn. Oh sure not enough to be considered dangerous, but enough to make a certain Mau, who was trying her best not to start shouting in english, hunker down in the corner and hiss. Eventually the ride of terror came to an end.
Really the feline had been wondering how much attention would be drawn to her if she just blew up the back of the van and escaped out of the whole created by a star lazer. Really, who would notice. Cats shooting energy out of their foreheads totally normal, right? But as soon as she was starting to get truly fretful, the van slowed down, and eventually stopped. The door opened, and with another hiss her cage was handed off to another pair of hands that moved much more gracefully then the bumpy ride of the van. She was still hissing and growing quietly until her cage was set down on a metal table, and a sweet crooning voice spoke to her.
She was instantly suspicious. She assumed she was at wherever animals who were taken by animal control were taken for their evaluations.
If someone tried to spay her, heads were going to roll.
The cage opened and someone tapped gently on the table, still speaking sweetly. Sitara stayed hunkered in the back corner of her cage for a few moments, but the sound of running water and someone shuffling items away from the table made her relax, and eventually she crept out of her box, tail waving.
Sitara was sniffing delicately at the table were he had tapped his fingers, when the tall blonde came back over and scooped her up with a surprisingly delicate hand. She considered maybe scratching him, out of pure reflex, but Sitara was always one for a cuddle, and, he promised something magical. To be clean again. He turned her and held her at eye level, and she met his gaze steadily with her own, eyes the bright yellow green that some felines could get, almost looking fake in their brightness.
She let out a soft happy purr that ended in a high pitched happy trill, as kitties will sometimes do when they are happy. If she had dared speak she would have praised him for being the best human on the planet for offering her a bath. baths were the best things ever. He lowered her into the water and she stood there patiently, looking at him with those large eyes as if to tell him to proceed.
A soft rumbling little purr rose from her as he ran the warm water over her fur, only breaking when she let out a delicate little sneeze of disapproval at the less than desirable smell of the flee shampoo. Ugh, flee shampoo. But it was still better then the scent of mop water and alley mess.
Sitara tensed as she saw HIM tense as he star her star, which meant... he knew what she was. The question is... how did she know what he was? What was his alliance. Sitara narrowed her eyes at him, her tail twitching, trying to look imperious. Which was sort of hard to do when you are a teeny tiny cat who is currently standing in a sink soaking wet.
She tilted her head as he suddenly just sort of... continued with his job. And then suddenly she was engulfed in a towel, a meow muffled as she was fluffed dry. Then suddenly he was covering up her star. Her glorious star. She tried to shake her head and back away, but due to the fact he was much larger, he ended up accomplishing his goal, and she glared him down with a slightly petulant stare. He wrapped her back up in the towel and scooped her up, carrying her up against his shoulder. He took her out of the room, and she peeked curiously out from around her towel as best she could, when she heard another voice. Suddenly another face peered down at her, covered with a light dusting of freckles.
He touched her bandages gently and she let out a soft little meow. Suddenly the blonde swiveled her around and pulled back the edge of the bandage so the brunette could see her star. Her eyes flickered from one boy to the other, watching their reactions carefully. She could safely assume that they both knew of Mauvians, so the question of how was all that really remained.
She was passed to the shorter boy, still snugly wrapped in her towel, as the other fetched some papers from the counter and talked with another of the animal control officer, and Sitara snuggled down against the brunette, kneading gently with her paws and purring, but gazing up and the freckled human curiously..
Oh she was getting out here. Ooooh yes, the day was finally starting to look up.

Alistair's eyes widened slightly. "Yes, we're definitely keeping her," he said, and then he gave the Mauvian a scratch behind the ears for good measure. With a star that dark, he hoped she was one of theirs - or, more properly, the Negaverse's. He wondered if they'd want her returned if he and Lance did indeed keep her. Oh well, the Court could use a cat or two, if she was willing.
He held her close against his chest, careful not to jostle her. "You are a very lucky lady," he said, his voice soft. He gave Lance's coworker a polite smile, continuing to give his feline friend ear scritches. It had done well to endear him to Liryn, which had - well, had pretty literally saved his life.
Alistair was very much fond of Mauvians.
"It'll be my fault if we keep her," he said, "I saw her and insisted."

Sitara continued to purr, her whole body seeming to shiver slightly with it.
MMMMM, ear skritchies. Her eyes hooded slightly, half closed, as if she were sleepy or tired, but really she was just enjoying the attention. Alistair called her a lucky lady, and she let out a sweet little meow in agreement. She didn't think trying to break out of here on her own would have been very fun or safe, so the fact that these two were paying her bail, as it were, was very lucky indeed.
She bumped alistair's hand with her head lovingly, she was definitely a cuddler, but kept a watchful eye on the humans in the room.

Lance scribbled down the information quickly, giving it a quick once over before handing it to his coworker. "Can I get back to you on the name thing?? Alistair's kind of a sticker. The name hasta be perfect." The co worker quirked a brow glancing over the papers and glanced at Alistair. "...But if he insisted, wouldn't he have the name picked?" Lance quickly shook his head. "Nah.. Like I said, sticker. Different breeds got different names, then there's gender and eye color..." Lance waved a hand to indicate how complicate this could be. Alistair was going to kill him. Lance couldn't lie worth s**t. "Uhm.. Alright then? I'm sure she'll be in good health.. You know what you're doing. So we don't expect to see her back here any time soon. You're good..." Lance sighed, sinking into the chair as the coworker walked off. That was close.. The blond glanced from the cat, to his boyfriend to the clock. "I've got 10 minutes.. if you want to wait around. Her crates in the other room there.. But I think we should look for one that's appropriate for her size.. Get her a dry towel to stick in there. She's not gonna like it but it should do till we can get some stuff in the house."

Alistair was content to continue giving the cat pets and scratches to keep her happy while they waited, and while they got the things together to take her home. At least, until he had to relinquish her into the cat carrier so that, well, she could indeed be carried out. Even though he was fairly sure it was undignified to stick a sentient, thinking being in a cat carrier.
They weren't exactly set up for a cat, but they would have to work around it, because it wasn't every day that a Chaos mauvian got practically hand-delivered into their laps. It was a lucky, lucky day - and besides, surely they could figure things out eventually. A talking, clever cat couldn't be too difficult to handle, right? After all, she would literally be able to tell them if she needed something.
They could figure out the specifics when they got her home.
