RequestShu had been in the library for the whole week, sitting on the chair that she couldn't reach the floor, humming some melodies and flipping books. When she finished a tower, she jumped down to get another tower of books, slightly shaking when she walked back to her seat. A whole morning was well spent and she left the library with a small tower of books. The petite girl occasionally peeked out from the tower to check the path in front, there were hunters asking if she needed help sometimes but she smiled and rejected. "No, it's fine, thank you." After a while, she brought her books back to her room, piled up on the desk. "Ok, let's do it." She went out and knock on her neighbour 's door. "Mr. Bashmet, are you home? Can I spare you a few minutes?" Her voice was cheerful and dyed with excitement.

He had been reading, lost in thought. Ever since that dream had perturbed him, and ever since he'd had his... adventure, there was a lot on Kostya's mind. It was a war between the common threads of his life-- the domesticity of living with America, of trying to be normal. It ran in parallel with his desire to serve, which was tempered with fear in its own right. At the polite greeting, Kostya put his book away, standing and making for the door. "Vun minute," he said, tugging on a shirt to cover himself, although since he had a set of bars for a door (covered by a sheet), there was a chance she could have peeked to see him getting ready. After a short minute, Kostya opened up to see Shu. "Hello Miss Lei," he said, gravely polite, nodding. "I am not busy at this time."

The curious girl might attempt to peek around, but soon returned her focus on the hunter. "I found some books in the library and think some are good for -" She tried to tiptoe so that she would whisper near his ears. " ................. So I'm thinking to make something, would you mind joining and teaching me how to do it?" She asked hopefully. "Anytime when you are free, we need to prepare the ingredients and tools and probably take a whole day. I'd like to try some simple one to gather up experience first....." Shu wiggled her body a little, maybe due to nervousness.

Kostya paused, leaning down just a little bit to make her goal easier. Solemnly, he nodded. "Is a good idea," he said. "I must get preparation. Give one second." He returned to his room, gathering an array of tools, as well as protective gear. "Have extra for you," he said. "Do ve need to be going shopping for supplies? I have leave to use."

"I-I don't know....." Her eyes looked at the floor. "BUT I got some bookmarked! They are in my room...." She peeked at the door next to Kostya. "Do you want to check first? I don't know if you have enough reserve......I might fail - you know, I am not familiar with cooking."

Kostya nodded again. He did a great deal of that: his face did not often change in expression, so it was one of the few ways he could non-verbally acknowledge his understanding. "Ve should pick all recipe. Then, can write out every need thing and mathematically calculate needed space and funds for trip." The fact that Shu had several recipes meant that they'd need more eggs, at the slightest. And perhaps milk. "Ok. To your room, lead vay." As they walked, Kostya explained: "Cooking is more like follow math equation. Follow step, get result. As long as variable correct, end is delicious. Normally get cheap ingredient, but for this, is good idea to spend more. How much you vish to make?"

"I might be label too many of them, they all look TASTY, so help is appreciated!" She might be a bit exaggerated in her expression, but a happy and sparkly one when she mentioned the word "tasty". Shu may be blushing from the truth that she was enchanted by the lovely pictures of the confection in those recipe books, she hope no one saw her creepy smiling face when going through them. "Oh! Just next door." She said in prompt reaction. "Em....that-depends on how much time we have? I usually panic and mess things up when I am not familiar with them...." Then, they were at her door, yes, just a few steps. She opened the door to her tiny room, told the hunter to wait a minute and disappeared behind the door with just a little. The petite girl looked at how messy her room was, and decided to shove things in wardrobe and covered some with the blanket on the bed. "Ok now, please come in." Kostya might see a tidy clean room with a small tower of books put on the small desk before the girl carried it over. "There they are."

"I think ve have enough time to make and chill at the night time." Most ......., after all, were best served cold. Kostya stepped inside, examining the room with a detached interest. She had done the best she could, living in the basement, but he found himself mildly surprised that Shu hadn't moved upstairs yet. Especially with how possessive Mimsy was. Inspecting the books, Kostya began tabbing through them. Some of them wouldn't be possible without additional instruments, and he wanted to get the most bang for his not at all theoretical buck. "None of these," he said, pointing at a few recipes. "Not efficient. Costly ingredient, not enough result produced. Vhat can come in batch is good idea, since ve vill not be only vuns consuming." He picked out about six recipes, figuring that would be enough. "Do you have any you really vant to make most? I think ve have room for vun more."

"Really? That's great!" She trusted his words without any doubt, the cakes he made last time was so marvelous that she wanted more. "I will wish hard I don't mess up this time, hopefully." Her eyes looked away out of feeling guilty. Shu nervously followed where Kostya was looking and sometimes peeked at the wardrobe and her bed, wishing nothing will be spotted. The girl nodded at the hunter made his elimination, his reasons were so reasonable that she didn't think of any words to reject. She admired his carefulness in details and analysis, like Mimsy, she might understand why the two were good friends. Shu was sad about the break up of the friendship, they seemed they could be the best friends. Anyway, back to the topic Shu. "I think something I can share with my friends if successful, they treat me nicely and some even bring me foods I like and talk to me, so I think it's time for me to return. So how about this.... this- this or... this? Simple enough? We're gonna do six, so I figure out a simple one would be good? Though I really want to try the ombre or the rainbow tie-dye...maybe next time, we have to stay focus on the highlight!" She flipped the pages and pointed, beaming, excited for the plan. After listening to his words, she didn't pick any of the pretty cupcakes, just some like a good snack. "So do we still need to go shopping?"

ShoppingKostya roamed the aisles with a purpose, grabbing flour here and dozens of eggs there, and no less than ten entire pounds of sugar god help them all. "Push cart," he said, staring up and down the icing, calculating whether or not he should make his own, before collecting several packs of food dye. "I hope you can manage this. Produce section next."

Step 1"Much batter to make," Kostya said, and he sure hoped no one minded that they took over the kitchen. He'd bribed someone to distract her from it, at all costs. "Hand me this spoon."

ShoppingSo they went to shopping in a nearby supermarket, Shu watched in amazement as the hunter grabbing the ingredients like a lightning, the goods piled up in the cart accumulated like a small hill within a wink. The girl daydreamed that they were participated a competition of something called "sweep it and take what you like in valuable ________ minutes!", she shook her thought off as Kostya called her to follow. Like a tiny minion, the girl made her endeavor to closely follow the hunter, things and more things put into the cart as she wondered if two of them can take them back. It was a bit heavy but she didn't want to interrupt with his processing, she heard him mumbling numbers and such, but she totally couldn't catch that. So when he asked - "I think I am still okay.", that was her answer. Lesson taught: Bring one or two men when you need to shop for an event. No, three to four.

Step 1They officially took over the kitchen and currently no one was allowed to enter, the Asian girl even placed a paper with " Sorry for the inconvenience, kitchen is not available for today <(_ _)>" on it, before they started. Six cakes from six recipes, of course they had a lot of work to do. The girl in apron rolled up her sleeves and stood aside, observed what Kostya was doing while delivering the tools from time to time. Shu handed him the spoon. "Is there any order for the cakes we are gonna to make? What step are we at now?"

Shopping Their trip was organized by aisle, so they didn't even have to go back to previous ones. It was methodical. it was efficient. It was How Kostya Shopped. He inspected cartons of strawberries, blueberries, and individual cherries with a critical eye, loading up the cart. "Vhen making fresh fruit treat," he explained, "take lot more than you are thinking. It all bake down, you see."

Step 1Kostya preheated the oven. "Hand pie first, so ve can let cool." He began setting out ingredients and measuring them-- it appeared as though he had at least a dozen cup and two cup measuring cups, and a dozen more that were broken into thirds and halves. It was a veritable army of precise measurement, because while he preferred the utility of measuring in grams, no American ever did. "Most recipe from Americans," he said, "so use terrible cups. Should really be using gram to veigh flour, because you can pack vun cup two vays and have result vith many differences!" Kostya clucked his tongue disapprovingly. "Technically on step three, vunce you beat these egg and milk together." He handed her a whisk, solemnly, and four eggs and a cup of milk already in a large bowl.
