and be blue Text to Ever: Time to see what you're made of. Meet me out on the training field! As she watched the message send off she wondered if it would actually work. Not her cleverest means of getting a friend to spar with her, but hey, maybe she'd get lucky.

What would Peyton think if she found out she was hardly the first to pull this trick on Ever? That Cee had beaten her to it by, well, long enough to almost be embarrassing? She might have some idea when Ever showed up, ten minutes later, looking somewhat weary as he took Peyton in. Approaching slowly, as if this were some kind of trap. Or maybe just checking to see if he could still escape the inevitability of it and go back to other duties, something less aggressive -- No. Probably not. So he'd sidle up next to her and shake his head. "Is this a normal hunter-girl thing to do?"

Peyton would have thought herself a little less clever, but would have been otherwise amused. A bright smile was flashed at the Lifer has her turned barely ten minutes later, though it did wilt a little around the edges, puzzled amusement taking over delicate features at that weary expression and obviously cautious approach. "I'm not gunna bite you." Hands on her hips, she look ed up at him as he came to a stop beside her, and her shoulders rose up in a light shrug. "I think it's just a normal hunter thing. We want spars, so we either advertise on twitter or go straight for the contact list."

"It's the summoning me as if I wasn't doing anything better bit that I meant." It was dry, though, without any bite behind it: a far cry from how Ever had been before his leave. Much better now, in fact, with his expression more relaxed and some of the tired lines melted out of his eyes. He'd been sleeping, even if he'd been sleeping on grass, or couches, and not in the dank mess of his room... He shoved hands into his pockets and tipped his head to look down on her, a giant beside her. Maybe there was something a bit skeptical in his expression, somewhat uncomfortable sparring, but -- "Don't you have a boyfriend or something?"

"Oh that," she laughed, grinning almost smugly. "You didn't have to show up. If you'd had anything else better to do you wouldn't be here. It was a lure, and you bit." Thin shoulders rose up in a small rolling shrug, but there had been no bite to her words. She was teasing him. His question head her tilting her head, as if she wasn't sure what his point was, but she nodded. "I do indeed. Noah. He was at the sandwich thing." And because she couldn't see what he was getting at, and because she was a girl, she asked. "Why?"

"...isn't the point of having a boyfriend so that he'll come when you call?" Ever shook his head at her, eyes sweeping over the training field, and then gave up entirely. He'd take two steps deeper, almost thoughtlessly summoning his weapon as he did. Amory already came to his call comfortably, easily, instinctively, and even if it brought his voice into louder focus, it was still worth it. He felt better for having the stiletto in hand. "Your own personal puppydog."

Peyton laughed. "He's not a dog." Though he probably would drop everything to meet her if she needed him too. He was sweet like that. Of course, if he needed her, she'd do the same. It worked. For a brief moment she wondered if he was going to decline her little request and head back to wherever he'd been before she'd texted him, but instead he summoned his weapon after taking a few steps away. "If I wanted a puppy I'd just go get a runic carrier and find myself a decent analogy among the minis in the laps."

"I clean those labs. The minis are experiment fodder." He blinked at her, both eyebrows raised slowly, and shifted Amory in his hand -- pausing to strip out of his coat. It was too heavy for the weather, today. Especially considering how many layers he had underneath. "If you've never been on mini duty, seriously, don't go. Are we doing this?"

He didn't hesitate, at least, didn't wait for her to say it twice -- instead easing into motion immediately and fearlessly. Maybe Ever's technique was still clumsy, more like a sledgehammer than a focused blow, but he wasn't afraid to attack her, at least. For how long he'd been here, he was surprisingly ready for the fight, surprisingly into it. His strike, scraping and crooked, would land at the very least. Even if it only landed lightly. When he wasted no time in charging at her she couldn't help but grin, excited and ready. "Alright! That's what I like to see. Bring it on, Ever!" He ht, a glancing blow that made her arm sting but did little to her actual shield, but his enthusiasm was welcome. For a second or two she considered going easy on him, but then what would he get out of it? Respect was giving it everything she got. It was treating him like the worthy opponent he was, instead of belittling him through actions. So she didn't hold back when she brought her dainty hand up to drive spiked knuckles into his rib cage, damn near lifting him off his feet. She was, by reputation, a pint sized mac truck. She hit like a ton of bricks, that was for sure: enough that, shields or no, for a moment Ever was breathless, struggling to keep his feet, bringing his blade back up reflexively. The fact that he caught her arm as she slid away again was probably more luck than anything else, due to the razor-sharp tip of the stiletto. Unnaturally sharp. HP: 30/40 Charge: 2/3 DMG: 4

She'd knocked him back and he'd still managed to drag that needle sharp stiletto down her arm. It had a proud grin flashing on glossed lips. She was stronger then the tall Lifer, but he seemed serious, and she loved a good fight. "Good reflexes, Ever!" He was going to need them. She dashed in, skirting his armed side, and went for a kidney shot. HP: 45 DMG: 5 CHG: 2/3

Kidneys were a harsh place to aim; he grunted, winced, swinging wildly again -- and his expression, now, was nowhere near as amused or pleased as hers. Instead, it had an exasperated edge as he just caught the edge of her shield, and then hopped away again. The opposite of fighting with Cee. He wanted her back, to take advantage of his longer arms... "You're kind of condescending, you know that?" And it wasn't joking at all, just flat. Maybe it actually bothered him.
