There was a little basket in Peyton's hand as she climbed the stairs to the second floor. Soon, she told herself, soon she would have her own room up here. She could feel it in her bones. For now, she was paying Camille a visit. There had been talk of pedicures and girl talk, and one thing or another kept delaying these plans. Finally it seemed things had calmed down enough for them to actually get together. Stopping outside Otto's room, now Cami's as well, she rapped on the door, three quick knocks. "Lemme in Ladyface, I got nail polish."

Cami was pretty sure she ought to just tell Otto to get a garage door opener runic'd so they could just press a button to open the door. It was never locked when one of them was in the room and to have to get up and down, up and down, well it was tiring. Being industrious about her training meant that the redhead was slacking majorly in other aspects as her life as much as possible. Still the door swung open and before she even looked to say hi Cami was flopping back down on the couch, smiling and waving from there. "Hey girlie, did you say nail polish? My hearing's going in my old age." The old old age of...twenty-two? Fingers combed through her hair to detangle it for a moment before she gave up. "I've been dying to have girltalk. So much girltalk. You have no idea, Pey." This level of genuine feeling and enthusiasm was something only perhaps five people on the island could have received, including Peyton.

In the interest of not not wanting to repeat the same story over and over Peyton had tried to cover up the bruises and burn as best as she could. Cover up helped to mask the discoloration along the side of her jaw, and she'd pulled a hoodie on over her usual cami. It hid the burn completely, and helped to hide the necklace of dark bruises around her slender throat. None of this was done out of a desire to protect Jack, she had just gotten tired of explaining. If Cami noticed she'd of course fill the other Sun in, but if not, that was just fine. The door opened, and instead of a smiling face standing on the other side, she got a retreating backside before Cami threw herself back down on the couch and waved. This drew a snort from the smaller girl, and she shook her head as she walked in, nudging the door closed behind her. "I did indeed say nail polish, and there will be so much girl talk. I hope Otto isn't here, it might make him gag." Glossed lips stretched in a grin.

Cami noted both the bruises and the burns but she wasn't the kind of person to pry overmuch. Peyton would tell the story if Peyton wanted to tell the story. Harassing her about it was only going to turn her much-needed nakama time into less-needed angry time. "I hope you don't need to talk much because then we might be here forever." It was a joke, of course, because for all that she intended to get Cami was willing to take in return. Wasn't that what friends were for? "And no, Otto's once again manning the lighthouse. We have...four-ish hours before he comes back. He might text or something but I can multitask. I was born with a cell phone in my hand." Which was ridiculous, really, because it wasn't until the New Millennium that children had been given electronics the moment they were born. Still, Cami's phone was never far from her hand at any time of day and never if her roomie needed her. Looking down at her bare finger and toenails she wiggled all twenty of them. "What color am I going to be?"

A had listed, touching the healing bruises that still stood out against tanned skin. She grimaced, shaking her head as she sank down on the couch beside the other girl. "I don't need to, no. But I will say be cautious of Jack." If she wanted details she could ask, but if not she was perfectly happy just letting it go. "He's a violent, unhinged a*****e." A nod followed Cami's answer of where Otto was, but her attention was down on the little bottles of various colored polish. She was looking through them, trying to decide on a color. There were a lot of pinks, but there also seemed to be every other color under the sun. After a moment of hunting she extracted a bright green blue to hold up near Cami's cheek, checking the contrast against that lovely dark skin and pretty eyes. "Something bright." The bottle was set to one side, and a second lifted up, this time bright yellow. "So how have you been?"

Blinking a few times as the name registered Cami let out a low whistle. "Well, glad I didn't respond to someone asking me if I was looking for a date the other day, then. My plate's a bit full as it is..." Immediately her mind wandered to Dylon, remembering her shutter shades and what had come about as a result of that. Cami made a bit of a face at the blue-green color held up and smiled at the yellow, her preference between the two and of general shades of preference clear. "I thought you'd never ask!" Yet if Peyton hadn't asked she still would have heard all about it. "Everything's crazy. You have no idea!" Looking back at her senpai she hesitated. "Okay well you probably have some idea. Firstly the whole island knows about Maebe and Otto being a thing and maybe I partook some on the side but it wasn't anything for any of us. Now it's something. A bit fat something." Breath blew out in a long stream. "On top of that there was the Tower. You weren't there and I'm torn between being glad you were spared all that and wishing you'd been there because it was a trip. Not the 'got set on fire bugs beneath my skin' trip but 'I think I died and was a goddess for awhile' trip." Pausing for breath she leaned forward and tried to grin at Peyton but succeeded only in looking nervous. "I think I did well. I think you'd be kinda proud of me." Sitting back again, wincing at her wound, she jerked a thumb over her shoulder. "And I think the leader of the Horsemen tried to kill me. Personally." "Which story do you want to hear first?"

"Yes," she cringed at the thought. "It's a very good thing." She'd dated Jacked, or at least had memory of dating Jack in an alternate reality, and it had been a roller coaster train wreck of epic proportions. That memory was enough to have teh blonde shaking her head, but she had more recent events to look back on that had ended quite violently. Whatever residual feelings that had carried over from New Years were now nothing more than a seething pit of rage and hate. It was actually a relief to sit back quietly and let someone else talk. She put the teal bottle away and rolled the yellow between her hands as she listened, an easy smile on pale pink lips. She'd know about Otto and Maebe being a thing, and she'd known that Cami now lived with Otto. It hadn't been terribly hard to jump to the conclusion that there were things happening between the two girls based on twitter conversations, and honestly, when Cami had moved she'd thought her Sun buddy and her cousin were maybe dating. Really, so long as they were all happy, she was happy for them. Wide eyes flicked up from the nail polish at the mention of the tower. "I heard about the fun I missed while you guys were all gone. Usually I'd be pretty upset at having missed it, but not this time. It was a good thing I was here." The yellow looked amazing with Cami's dark skin as she began carefully applying it to the other girl's nails. "I am proud of you, you're a great Sun and a great friend. And I'm also very grateful to you for finding your way into Otto's life." Her lips did purse though at one part of Cami's news. "I can't say I'm thrilled that the horse b***h tried to off you though. I guess you can start with that story, then we can move onto glory and happiness."

Shaking her head slightly it was all Cami could do to not move her hands with the vehemence of her next expression. "No need to be grateful to me. Otto's amazing. One of the best things that's ever happened to me, on or off island." Affection could be heard clearly as well as something a bit more than that, the big fat complication that was brewing on the horizon, but not the one she'd been referring to. Looking down at her yellow nails for a moment Cam caught the threads of her thoughts about Medea, shaking her head. "I didn't think it was going to be as one-sided as it turned out to be. It was rather freaky, honestly. One moment I'm trying to fight her, shooting away and actually doing some damned good hits. Then Caelius shows up out of nowhere and starts throwing us around. His own Hunters! Though, I hear that's not really anything new." Grimacing, she rolled her shoulders without trying to ruin Peyton's concentration. "Apparently my big a** makes not only for a big target but the evil queen horse lady thought I'd make a great shield. Or she wanted my heart because it's so big and warm." It was clear from Cami's eyes, if not her expression, that she was still more bothered by this than usual. "If not for Maebe I'd be dead. She caught me from slamming through a portal into God only knows where and..." The girl shook her head. "It was damned heroic. And damned scary."

"Regardless, I'm glad you're all happy together." She didn't have the whole story on their interesting arrangement, but she knew enough to know that Otto was actually happy. The girls? They were an obvious read, but Otto didn't wear his emotions as freely. As Cami got into the story of what had happened on the tower Peyton's eyes widened, and she replaced the little brush in the bottle of polish so she wouldn't blindly paint the poor girl's fingertips. "Jesus." Missions were dangerous, Peyton knew that, maybe better than most, but she'd never before been in the position of having missed the big bad. It was unusual, hearing all these things second hand, and somehow that seemed to chill her far worse than witnessing them. Maybe it was the helplessness of knowing she hadn't been there to help take care of everyone. As if being there, she could some how prevent awful things from happening. Or maybe it was fearing for her own life. She didn't know, but the thought of Cami having narrowly avoided death was not a nice one. Features pinched, she gave a small shake of her head and resumed her nail painting. "I'm just really grateful you all came back safe."

Nodding quietly Cami let out a soft sigh. "I can't say it was all bad though. In the Tower we had to face things that I don't think any of the three of us had wanted to face. I heard voices, awful voices from my past, trying to tear me down and break me. From what I've heard from Maebe and Otto their experiences weren't too different and then..." Remembering the doors her voice was solemn, hushed and a little reverent. "We came to this floor that was nothing but doors. Or at least, I think that's what it was. Things were so messed up by that point I don't remember a whole lot." Watching the precision involved in having her nails painted calmed Camille's nerves enough that she could speak about this without too much fear, certainly without tears. "I went through the white door and became..." She trailed off. "An Ancient. Ancient of Isolation as I watched and fed on people's fear of being alone. Even I was alone, trapped inside of a sphere that I couldn't escape while you, Maebe, Otto, everyone lived their lives without me. It's made me want to try harder, to reach out more, and be a better friend." Looking up her smile flashed. "Part of why I invited you over for girl time." Stretching out one leg she laughed lightly. "The other part is that I think Maebe are uh...a couple? I think. I'm not sure but...I had to tell someone." Congratulations, Peyton!

"It's funny, isn't it?" Peyton had finished with the color and was applying a top coat now. "How even in the midst of awful things there are still silver linings." She remembered the Tear, sense of liberation. Wonderland, and the teapot weddings, the flashes of memory, and the promises of bright futures. Maybe they weren't real, but she wanted to believe them, so badly. But there were always more awful than good. That was how it worked. The cap was screwed back tightly on the top coat and she set it aside, folding her hands in her lap after. "It won't be the last time something huge and frightening happens, but we're strong, all of us. That's why we're here, because we can handle anything they can throw at us." Glossed lips curled up in a smile, and she reached out a hand to give Cami's knee a gentle pat. Then the admission, and Lavender eyes went a little wide. "You and Maebe? But I thought she was with Otto, did they break up?"
