Roland was standing in the middle of the training field, Sylvia summoned and resting across his shoulders like a twisted stick staring up at the sky. He wasn't sure why he felt like sparring today, let alone with the person he picked. It just felt like a good idea.
Dropping one arm off his weapon he snapped out his phone to send a text message.
Beejoux To Peyton: Hey spit fire. Wana have a rematch? To Peyton: Unless you're scared or something.... To Peyton: Looser has to buy the other lunch biggrin
If she was asleep the three messages would surely wake her up.

Miliardo kason Text to Ro: Thems fighting words, bro. Text to Ro: I hope you know what you're getting into. Roland only had to wait a few minutes before a flash of blonde and pink showed at the other side of the training field. She'd left her coat in her room, as usual, and came striding across the patchy grass in her preferred cutoffs and tank top. As she got closer she summoned Warrick, grin splitting glossed lips. "You ready for this?"

He looked at his phone as it chirped twice in a row. Peyton was quick. Even quicker on foot to get to the training grounds.
His own coat was abandoned, he was wearing a pair of baggy cargo shorts and a loose button up with the sleeves rolled back. Grinning he started to walk towards Peyton putting Sylvia in his hands before giving her a twist and tugging the two ends apart with the dangling midsection.
"So ready."

"Good!" Her grin grew, and then she was darting forward. A small tan blur as she raced at the scythe wielding Mist. At the last possible moment the girl dropped, sinking low to avoid Sylvia's blade or any other retaliation, slipping under his arms to drive a dainty fist into his side. "It's been a while Ro," she laughed out as she hopped back and away. "Whatcha' been up to?" HP: 50 DMG: 5 CHG: 1/3

The two ends of his weapon flipped hand in hand, one hand holding onto the split weapon just under the female figure, the other gripping the pointed end as she darted in, the first blow, a stab from the back end sailed overhead as she slid in planting a fist in his side, he let the momentum turn him as he brought the out stretched part of his weapon down into her back pushing her on through post attack.
"Doing well. I guess. Mourning? Moving on? Trying not to hate life so much lately? It's the little things I guess."
He took a few steps back crouching down so as not to leave himself as open like that again, "I've taken a fondness to trying to train Shu? Yeah that's a new thing. How about you?"HP: 45/50 DMG: 9 Charge 1/3

The strike to the back made her stagger, but she kept her feet under her, snapping around to face the Mist, arms up and ready. It was easy to forget that Roland was a competent fighter, he was mild mannered, unsure of himself, but he was strong, and he moved well. One small foot slid over the patchy earth, tow digging into the dirty for a proper kick off. It let her charge him, and this time the short blade in her left hand caught him at the wrist, dragging up in a painful line all the away to his shoulder before she turned, digging the right blade into his ribs. Roland was a great sparring partner. He was a challenge, and he didn't get upset when she actually fought back with everything she had. It should have meant she faced him more often, but lately just being in his presence was enough to make the tiny Sun feel guilty. As if she should have been with him, like it was her responsibility to make him happy. It wasn't. She was a good friend. It wasn't her fault she didn't like him the same way he liked her, or that Noah had gotten there first. But still she felt bad. Like now, at the mention of trying not to hate his life. It had her forcing her face into neutral lines, a soft smile. "Shu's very sweet." It was about all she knew of the dainty Death. Time wold tell how she'd survive the island, if she survived it. Pale eyes flicked down and out, just a brief twitch before snapping back on him. Mustn't look away in a spar, it was the recipe for disaster, still.. "My sister woke up," she offered up, delaying. "She's in life. Been up for about a week or so now. Um. Started seeing Noah." She said it quick, like tearing off a bandaid. He probably knew, it wasn't as if he never checked twitter, but it seemed important that she tell him herself. HP: 41 DMG: 12 CHG: 2/3

Roland never held it against her when she fought, it wasn't Shu, Peyton knew how to carry herself and it made this fight a much more balanced one vs a young death trainee.
Suddenly she was kicking off, the small blades on her knuckle dusters catching in the arm and ribs causing him to grunt. That one he felt. Couldn't deny that in the least as he stumbled backwards. He noticed the shift in her face and a small smile crossed his own, a somewhat sad one.
"She's Naive, I worry about her but she came back from the last mission so she might pull through." Rin. Nevada. His smile turned a bit darker. For a moment they both broke eye contact before locking back on.
"Your sister huh? I know you never really talked about family life... is she doing okay?" He paused at the Noah part, "Yeah... I kinda figured." Without warning he switched from the close range fighting spinning the head of his weapon twice before tossing it at Peyton before tugging it back in.
He wasn't stupid, he saw twitter, he just didn't want to think about it all that much.HP: 33 DMG: 6 Chrg: 2/3

She agreed with him, Shu was naive. It was easy to place her on that list of people she was always going to worry about, regardless of personal accomplishments or skill. Mikael was on that list, Astrid was at the very top of that list. There were others she worried over, but knew they were capable. At his question she nodded, a smile lighting up that pretty face before he paused, acknowledged her and Noah's relationship, and then retaliated. The scythe struck her in the chest, forced her back a couple of steps and made her cough. Made her wonder if the topic added that little extra bite to the attack, or if it would have been as hard a hit regardless of what they were talking about. It didn't matter, not really. So she nodded, lips pressing into a tight line, before smoothing out as she let herself sink back into the spar. He didn't want to think about it, and she didn't want to rub it in his face. So she let it go. Then she moved up again, and she aimed a quick slash for his shoulder. HP: 36 DMG: 3 CHG: 3/3

The list was short for Roland, Shu was on the top of it, most of the other people he cared about where excelling and Peyton was surely one of them. Stormy was doing okay, she had just gone through moving, and well, the person he cared for most had already passed, it left a bitter taste in his mouth but it was a harsh lesson: You can't save everyone.
For a moment they both smiled, it was good to hear her sister was okay, it was something positive in a life that usually didn't have too many perks. Family being one of them. Well assuming you liked your family in the first place. Roland was an only child and his parents would likely never see him again let alone end up on the island.
Suddenly she was dashing in again, her blade catching his shoulder as she tried to slip by, but this time he was ready, turning around to hook her with Sylvia, not really trying to cut her but more like real her in like the feisty little beta fish she was.
Tugging on his weapon he pulled her in before cocking his fist and slamming it into her face.
He suddenly paused right after that a horrified look on his face, that blow landed way harder then he expected. "S-sorry!" He paused, "You're shield is still good right?"
Syliva was laughing hysterically, << Jealous much of Noah? Trying to break her nose? >>

The snag and tug was incredibly unexpected, but the fist that sent her head back was an even bigger surprise. It stunned her, not the violence, but the source. She knew Roland knew his way around a spar, but damn. "Ow." She was rubbing her cheek as he apologized, but there was a shadow of a smile on her face. "Damn Ro, you have a pretty wicked left hook." It stung, but her Warrick assured her her shield was still holding up so she nodded. "Yeah, I'm good. Let's keep going." < Maybe he's jealous.> God, she really hoped that wasn't the case. They were friends! They could stay friends, right? Pulling her game face back on she moved in, going for his arm again. A thin slice that stretched the length of his bicep. HP: 26 DMG: 4 CHG: 3/3

Blame mindflayer fights. Ever since that he'd taken fighting a bit more serious since it was the closest to dying he'd ever truly been. It wasn't an illusion or a mind game, it was one monster, and him in a whacked out house. There was no denying it, he almost screwed up.
Her own smile was met with a flicker on his own face, she wasn't too upset, that was a relief. He never fought that dirty in the past with her. "Yeah, I forget that our weapons come with strength perks."
Just as she moved in again he stepped back, the gash on his bicep shallow compared to some of her other attacks. Still he'd moved back just enough to make room to slash Sylvia's head twice in the air, the double ended scythe head catching twice once each way with the swing.HP: 26 DMG: 6 CHG: 3/3

How did he forget? Granted, the strength boost for her was a pretty dramatic difference. "Probably shouldn't forget that," she teased. He struck again, and she winced as Sylvia's blades tore into her shield. < I have so much Fear. Use it.> He sounded so eager, but Peyton understood. Grinning she tightened her grip on her knuckledusters. Yes.With a howl the demon released all that collected Fear, and the Sun was off like bullet, streaking for the Mist. It wasn't just strength, but speed that he gave her, and she knew exactly how to use it. A spiked punch found his side, then another one, a slash, a stab, over and over until the energy began to trickle away and she retreated back out of immediate reach. HP: 20 DMG: 12 CHG: 0/3

"I'll try to remember it next time I go out and punch things for fun." He smirked back taking a few steps backwards to make room between them. Then she grinned and Ro made a small miscalculation.
<< And now she's going to make you regret not using our fear earlier. >>
There was a burst of speed, insanely fast at that point as Peyton dashed in, the first punch causing him to ooof as he was smashed in the stomach, then stabbed, and smashed again, a rain of blows knocking him back.
Even as she dug in with each blow it left her in range, the power started to fade and her attacks slowed. She was pulling away but he couldn't afford to let her slip away! Leaping after her he let out a shout smashing both halves of his weapon down causing the burst of sound between them to throw them both backwards.
<< You... really shouldn't use that up close.... >>
Sylvia was trying not to laugh at the fact Roland had launched himself with his own charge and done just as much damage as Peyton had if not more. Laying in the dirt he stared at the sky laughing.HP: 1 DMG: 19 DMG @ Self: 13 CHG: 0/3

Peyton didn't so much forget how volatile Roland's charge was, as much as it had simply slipped her mind. The last time she'd encountered it had been when they had attempted to scoop just how large the range, but that had been last summer, so it had been quite some time since she'd encountered it. Pale eyes widened as he brought Sylvia together, and there wasn't time to brace before that shock wave was sending them both flying. The teen hit the ground, bouncing once, before rolling to a stop with a pained grown. That had hurt, and Warrick was warning her that her shield was next to useless at this point. The only silver lining? Ro was down as well. With a grunt the dainty Sun got back to her feet, swaying just slightly before getting a handle on her balance and stalking forward. Before the dampeners, this would have been the it. She was too low to risk it. But the dampeners were a reckless Sun's best friend. "You're charge is a nightmare." With a smile she held her hand down to him as if offering to help him up. But when his fingers touched her's she'd grab his hand and yank him up as she dropped backward into a roll. Tiny feet planted into his stomach, and shoving with everything she had, she sent him flying. Now it was her turn to lay there laughing. hands over her stomach, and head tipped back to watch him land. It might knock the wind out of him on impact, but he'd be fine, and she knew it. "Good fight, Ro!" HP: 1 DMG: 11, but dampeners, so only 1

Still laying in the dirt grinning like a dofus he waited for Peyton to stumble over his head shifting so he could grin at her as she got closer. "Still hearing okay?" He started to sit up getting ready to take her hand when suddenly she was dropping back rolling.
"Eh WHA!?"
Feet planted to chest and kicked like a fire cracker snapping him into the air sending him tumbling over and over a few times in the most awkward backwards somersaults leaving him on the ground again.
When she gave him the congratulations he only held up a thumb before bursting into laughter again.
