A warm summer breeze ruffled the hair atop her head and the tendrils that hang down. The shorter strands of hair tickled her nose as she walked along. She was meeting up with Raja that afternoon. It was one of their many weekly dates. The more time she spent with him, the more she found herself falling in love with him. She had never had a feeling quite like it before. Her stomach was in butterflies any time she thought about him and a smile spread across her lips if she even thought of his name. Yep, she was definitely head over heels for that stallion.
Lost in her daydreams, she didn't notice the quite noticeable usdia she had walked past until she heard someone call from nearby. At first, she thought it might be her love, Raja, but once she turned to greet him, her smile faultered realizing it wasn't her tall, handsome stallion, but a short, brightly colored stranger smiling coyly up at her. Zebediah's heart belonged to no one. Well, that was a lie. His heart belonged to himself. Sure, he and Valkyrie had a fling going, but it wasn't love. He hadn't yet met that one mare that would take his breath away, but he didn't mind trying to swoon any other pretty mare he might come across. Today was no different. He'd been minding his own business, just straightening out some feathers in his tail that had gotten twisted up in his tail. It took a lot of work to look that good! He heard a soft clip-clop of someone approaching but didn't pay the stranger any mind until they had practically passed by. He glanced, and went back to his tail, but did a double take. The mare was stunning! Woo! He couldn't help himself. He had to go say hi. It didn't matter that she was twice his height and he was completely out of her league, he was gonna strut his stuff and pay the pretty lass a compliment. "Hellooo there, gor-geous," he said slyly, walking up from behind her, keeping in step with her slow walk. He noticed that his tallest head feathers reached just to her chin.

While Pyper was never one to turn down a compliment, she felt a little uneasy at the usdia's comment. Nevertheless, she would not be rude. Smiling she stopped and pawed at the ground, "Why, thank you. I'm so glad you noticed. I do try to keep this mane looking ah-mazing afterall." She threw her head back to toss her bangs and the long tendrils of hair that framed her face, accentuating her tribalike markings. She flicked her tail as well, for good measure. She gave the stallion a once over, taking in his brightly colored feathers and scales. "My! Aren't you the most colorful little stallion I've ever seen. I adore those feathers and tiny wings. You are QUITE stunning yourself." He was eating up the praise and affirmation she was throwing at him. His ego just got bigger and bigger. "I'm glad you know beauty when you see it," he said, only further emphasizing his conceded nature. "Many have told me what I already know, but I can never hear it enough." He chuckled. "You and me, we'd make quite a pair, eh? You see, I'm a connoisseur of beautiful and rare things, and you madamoiselle would make an excellent addition to my collection of beautiful mares."

She really didn't like the way he'd said that. "I'm not something to be put in a collection of anything," she retorted. "I am a prized jewel you see." She said and winked at him. "Besides, you couldn't handle this much awesome. I am WAY out of your league little guy." She turned her head away from him, flicking her hair, and tail at the same time. Somewhat schocked by her tease, he replied in turn. "Oh you are definitely a gem, but I - I am a DIAMOND. Nothing compares to my beauty, oh pretty mare." He stood tall and puffed out his chest. "Have you ever seen a stallion with such a beautiful tail like mine, or scales the color of a rainbow? There are none to compare!" he boasted. "And you should consider it an HONOR if I wanted you to be part of my "collection." Not many mares can say that they were even asked to be such a prestigious addition to any group."

She sighed, exasperated with this conceited little stallion. She flicked her tail in annoyance. She appreciated the flattery, but he was growing tiresome. "Now, look here. Your scales and feathers may be bright and colorful, and albeit beautiful, that doesn't give you any right to be rude. You're no better than anyone else." She huffed and turned to walk away, but stopped realizing she couldn't leave. She was waiting for Raja after all. So, she decided to send the little stallion on his way. "I think it's time you move along. I'm waiting for someone." She knew it was rude to say such a thing, and a bit hypocritical, but it was honest, albeit blunt. So...she was playing hard to get was she. He liked that in a mare. "Rude? How was I being rude? If anyone is being rude, it's you; trying to send me on my way when I haven't even introduced myself yet." He bowed his head low and looked up at her, meeting her eyes. "I am Zebediah. Pleased to meet you, m'lady." He stood back up and flapped his little wings, settling them against his body once more. "Might I ask you for your name?"

She couldn't help but smile at his rebuttal, and then his bow. "Why should I tell you my name?" she asked annoyance filling her voice. "I don't owe you that. And I wasn't being rude. I was simply trying to ask you to leave, doing you a favor actually. I'm waiting here for my mate Raja to arrive. He might not like it that you were flirting with me. He can get kind of protective and jealous of me." She smirked at her threat. Raja probably wouldn't care actually, but if it got the little stallion to leave her alone, she could tell a little white lie. For good measure, she stretched her neck out, making a show of looking around to see if Raja might be coming. She actually really hoped he was coming, that way they could both just leave hopefully. "So you won't tell me your name then? And I'm the rude one?" He scoffed. "It's always polite to return the gesture when someone introduces themselves." He thought a moment about her comment. "Your mate? How quaint. Fine. I'd like to meet the lucky fella. And why would he mind if I flirted with you? It's only meant as flattery." His charming smile flashed and his eyes twinkled. "I find it sad that I know your mate's name and not your own."
He wasn't really bothered that she had turned him down. It wasn't the first time, and most likely wouldn't be the last. He wasn't looking for her to be his mate or anything of the sort. He usually preferred mares of his own stature anyway. He felt that he probably should move on before he caused any trouble. After a moment of thought he spoke up. "On second thought, you're right. I should be going now. I don't wish to cause you any trouble, and quite frankly, you're too tall for me anyway." He chuckled, amused at himself. As he walked away he called over his shoulder. "Please, pass along my congratulations to Raja."

A bit confused that he had changed his mind so quickly, she watched as he walked away. "Congratulations? For what?" she called. "For finding you." Zeb replied. FIN!
