Tanner is a very kind-heart person whom tries to see the best in everyone. He's a bit submissive to Arlie doing as she tells him but he becomes more aggressive with her when he sees her not being nice to others for no good reason.

Tanner decided to join the Military to better the Military Police, however, upon the first day in Training camp he learned that it's very hard to make friends with that goal. Many believed he was lying and just wanted to live the cushioned lifestyle of the MP but he knew he wasn't. One day during dinner he saw a pretty trainee sitting alone and decided to sit with her thinking that no one deserved to sit alone. She immediately tried to push him away but he wanted to be her friend and knew that she was just putting up her defenses. Little did he know that doing such a thing with this particular trainee would trap him in her grasps.
Upon Graduating day, Arlie told him to join the Scouting Legion with her or else he would face some sort of painful punishment. Not being too fond of pain and knowing how serious Arlie is he decided to join the Scouting Legion even though he was eligible to join the Military Police.
