i personally love awesome/summer games done quick (a/sgdq). if you're not aware, it's organized and run by a community of speed runners - people who try to run games as quickly as possible and beat each others' records - bi-yearly. they gather at a hotel in either washington or denver, then go on a video game-playing binge. they also talk about strategies for getting things done quickly and why they can use the glitches they do.
they usually run a lot of "old" games, that most of us played during our childhood, but they're also running newer games like amnesia: machine for pigs and legend of zelda: skyward sword. if you love watching other people play video games, you'll really enjoy this event - there's something in it for everyone.
what's really admirable is that all donations received are forwarded to doctors without borders, and if you donate, your comment will be read on-stream and you can be entered into a draw to win prizes.
