Basic Information
Name:
Hiroshi Saitou
Gender:
Male
Age:
312 (Looks 19-20. He looks relatively young because of his lack of battle wounds/scars.)
Race:
Shinigami
Appearance:

Hiro likes to believe he's the picture of average, though he's not really. He has dark brown hair that is kept at a medium length, never really allowing it to grow long. It's often in a bedhead style, or slightly tamed with bangs that go just past his eyes. His eyes are an emerald green, and his lashes are slightly longer than average. He has young looking features overall, with a small nose, and no rugged or squared features. There's not a single scar on his face, and he'd like to keep it that way. He has good skin, a fair complexion, and is more on the tall side. Standing at 6'1, he also has a fairly muscular build for a fighter and weighs 186 lb. Some say that if he wasn't so lazy and more sociable, he'd be popular with women because of his looks.
He has arms that are larger than the average lazy guy, as he focuses swordplay more than anything. It's the only thing he really has no problem putting energy into. His muscles are toned there, and pretty much everywhere else. He moves around a lot during combat, and therefore works almost every area during training. His legs and arms are a bit more defined than his torso, upper arms being the strongest as the primary source for strength with swords and naginata.
He wears normal shinigami black and white shihakusho, but altered. With the way he has it, there is a black chest plate put on over it, along with wraps of grey steel around the upper arms. The lower portion of the outfit has just enough slack so that it's comfortable, however has little to no risk of getting caught on anything. His feet are covered by mere white tabi and straw sandals, and the last custom decorations are small plates of metal that act as a collar for the outfit and protect him from swift strikes to one of the more important veins in his body.
Affiliation:
Gotei 13
Position/Rank:
Captain of the Duelists Division [Squad Five]
Personality:
Hiroshi is a bit...Odd. He's incredibly intelligent and could even have the capability of becoming a high rank in the twelfth division if he bothered with it. At the same time though, he's lazy. Not just lazy, he is possibly the complete definition of Sloth. He'd rather let a fugitive get away and follow his tracks later rather than chase him, and pretty much never charges an opponent, letting them run to him. Long runs leave him tired and breathless despite his fairly good build because his cardio is so terrible. Walking around the Soul Society or even from one squad to the other is a chore, and it is because of this that he often sends people off to run errands for him so that he doesn't have to leave his office. It's a miracle that he's so good at fighting, but he finds swordplay to be relatively easy. It only requires one train of thought, and doesn't require concentration and movement like Kido does. Also, fighting one opponent is easier than fighting many, so he focused in that area more than anything else while training so that he could create the Duelists Division.
As said before though, his intelligence is no joke. With only being given a single piece of evidence, it's possible for him to come up with theories and logical placements and solve an entire investigation on the spot. He takes nearly every detail in mind throughout his daily life, as it can all lead up to something else. Most of his detective skills he got through natural skill and a huge history of reading mystery novels. Whether it be Carrie or Sherlock, he can recall almost any mystery there is and compare it to a case. The most obvious way to tell he is thinking is when his arms are crossed and he pulls at the bang in the center in his face gently. That pose usually means he has figured something out, though only few people know this.
In terms of temper, it is incredibly hard to anger Hiroshi. Whenever he is angry though, he often shakes his left leg or taps his pen harshly. His anger can be told in only the slightest of twitches in his being. Whenever he lets his fuse reach the explosion, he is accusing and harsh. His voice raises, and his body movements become a lot more threatening. If he got close to someone, the possibility of killing them is definitely high.
When it comes to social skills, Hiroshi can actually be quite fun. He's a fan of playful flirting and witty humor, and gets embarrassed or amazed easily. His imagination is seriously vivid and crazy, and it's because of this that even the slightest perverted thought can have him at a near faint status because of his continuing imagination. It's because of this that he generally tries to avoid the more troublesome girls. As in the girls who get caught on his mind, and the only girls who can break his laziness and make him get up to actually do something with sheer adorable-ness. It truly is a sad thing for the lazy captain.
History:
One step ahead of the past Not having much to tell about his past life, he chooses to not speak of it too much. Growing up in the slums of the rukong where children either got trampled or were found starving in gutters, he survived where others failed by getting his hands on a weapon before he even cared about food or drink. Starting out with a higher than average base spiritual pressure, food was not so much a priority. Though he was able to eat in large amounts whenever he got the chance. For a few hundred years, his life was spent on pure combat, training with blades, running with small gangs to keep himself alive and fed. Eventually, after slowly but surely finding that he did not enjoy killing people for no good reason but the whim of a mob boss, he turned on his gang, and began destroying all the evil inside of the Hanging Dog District. He turned on his own gang, and used his above average skills and strength to cut down their little game, and seize their king. He then held a demonstration where he slit the mans throat in a mob meeting that he interrupted.
Naturally, the Soul Society eventually found the one casually purging crime within maybe the nastiest district around. He was apprehended for his crimes, and offered a choice. Fight for the Soul Society against hollows, and protect the living, or be questioned for his "crimes" in the rukong. No matter how evil the victim was, killing was killing. And he had killed quite a few people. While he wasn't actually thrilled about the idea of being a pawn for the leadership of the Gotei 13, it sounded better to him than rotting inside of that large prison they had in the middle of the Soul Society. There wouldn't be drinks or women in there, and he wouldn't be able to be with a blade at all. They had become like an extension of his body, and he'd rather have one on him at all times.
He then began his life of being a pawn, and he honestly found it to be a comfortable one. He picked his profession and found himself picking the simplest one, but one of the most difficult mentally. Dueling. Learning the opponent more than you knew yourself. Through his days in the Soul Society, he found himself adopting a new way of life, one of energy conservation. His motto became "I don't do anything I don't need to. What I need to do, I do quickly." It was this motto that ended up giving him the position of captain, as he lived it out throughout his day to day life, becoming one of the most by the book and protocol captains that ever existed.
When he got the squad, it was made by decision. The last captain had died, and Hiro led the investigation into his death. Finding it out in only two nights, he impressed the entire Soul Society. They decided the replacement would be Hiroshi Saitou, however he only had one demand. To rename the squad and recreate its purpose to be the Duelists Division.

Zanpakuto Information
Name: Byakko Guken
Sealed Appearance:

The zanpakuto takes the form of a cutlass, with the blade length being twenty five inches, and the handle another five inches. The guard goes down as a protective handle on one side, while on the other it contains a hole where other blades can be trapped and parried effectively. The blade itself is silver, while the guard is gold in color and the grip black.
Release Command:
"Sever"
Shikai Appearance:
There is no real physical change for his shikai.
Shikai Techniques/Abilities ((Limit of 3))
Kiru: The power of his zanpakuto is simple, extremely simple. It is deadly though all the same. Whatever bladed weapon he uses gains sharpness that can cut easily through metal, as if a hot knife went through butter. The sharpness can cut through the hierro of arrancar with relative ease. He can cut through all but diamond. Against that material, his blade would have to take time to cut it down, as a blade would do normally to hard leather or thick wood. Still, after enough whittling it can be sliced through like anything else.
This ability to cut through nearly anything is done by completely losing the kido energy needed to cast hado, bakudo, or chiyudo. All of the spiritual energy it takes to cast such spells is condensed and fitted against the edge of his blade, where his zanpakuto uses its actual ability to turn energy into cutting power and pure physical, sharpened friction. When the process is done, there is no trace that it was ever energy. This can also be used against an opponents kido, hollow spells, cero, or energy based zanpakuto abilities. Naturally this ability can be used on other bladed weapons and not just his zanpakuto. It can be used to increase the defensive power of metal armor as well.
The ability to absorb the energy of energy based attacks can only be done every three turns.
Note: Hiroshi can only take in the energy from other attacks if his bladed weapon makes contact with the energy in some way. This also works for any metal. If it is metal of some form, it can be enhanced with the zanpakuto ability if it has taken a hit. If he is hit by energy attacks without any form of defense, he will take damage normally.
tl'dr : The zanpakuto takes in energy and enhances metal with it. This causes his bladed weapons to become more powerful, and his armor to become more durable. This comes at the cost of all of his kido energy though, and leaves him completely unable to cast spells in any way.
Ugoki: An ability where Hiroshi seems to go from a rookie hero with an all powerful blade, to an experienced veteran with an arsenal of deadly weapons. When this state of his shikai activates, the energy gathered not only rushes to his blade, but fills his body with that energy, covering his nerves and coating his muscles before the ability makes it so that the energy converts into stronger muscles and enhanced nerves. His overall physical properties increase, making it so that he swings harder and faster with his arms, and his legs are able to keep up with the speed of his now advanced reflexes.
Note: This ability can either be used by taking the energy given to a blade and applying it to the body, or when an ability hits the body alone all together. This takes the pain of the strike and gives him the enhancement all the same. This ability may also tire him out and often leaves him sore if used extensively.
tl;dr: He can enhance his body with the energy and increase his body functions. Speed and strength are increased by muscles being enhanced, and reaction time is increased by advanced nerves. He can get this energy intake by his own energy supply, or taking a hit from an energy based attack directly to his body.
Kuukan: Probably the most useful passive ability in the Shikai, this one is extremely dangerous for long fights. The zanpakuto has a rule, and that rule is to let nobody to leave alive after it has been activated. Because of that, if something survives a slash it is planted with a curse. A black kanji for Still forms on the body of whatever the blade touched. After two posts, the mark glows and makes whatever was cursed completely held in space for a certain number of posts. This means if it was planted on another zanpakuto, the blade would be "stuck" in the air, and unable to be pulled out once the curse activates. For a limb, they would be unable to move it from the location its in, but would remain able to move the rest of their body.
This curse only works if the blade makes contact with an object of some kind. Being a sword or person. It cannot work on elements such as fire, water, or air.
The curse only lasts for 1 post after being activated for spiritual beings, and 3 posts for material things.
Bankai Status: [Achieved] The shikai alone took a lot of head racking to come up with. I'd like to wait to come up with the bankai. When i eventually come up with it, I will ask for this profile to be put back in UC status to come up with it.

Combat Information
Specialization:
Hiroshi is probably the best in the whole soul society in terms of one on one combat. He can completely destroy a target if it's only one before him, however has trouble against multiple opponents at once.
Known Techniques/Skills
Hakuda is something that Hiroshi doesn't bother with too much. It takes too much energy and body movement for his liking. Still though, he is familiar with it and is an excellent grappler with hard punches and kicks all the same. He prefers the style of Maui Tai over all.
Zanjutsu is his best area. His sword skills are incredibly good, and some could say that he might even be able to beat the Kenpachi and Captain Commander in terms of Zanjutsu, though he dismisses these as just rumors. He'd rather not have all the attention on him.
Hoho isn't too impressive. He isn't too good with movement in general and has mild motion sickness because of it, so moving around in shunpo a lot is horror for him. He still makes good use of that and air walk though whenever he absolutely needs to.
Kido is probably his second best area. While he doesn't prefer to use it while he's already fighting with his sword, he's an excellent caster all the same. He can use up to level 90 with hado and bakudo.
