Kyrie tilted her head back and shielded her eyes from the sun as she walked alongside her brother among the gravestones of the cemetary. She was keeping half an eye on Maggie, making sure that she was getting enough exercise. Sometimes she felt that she was making her fat and lazy keeping her in her room with her. But, then again, Maggie's cage had no door and she always kept a window open for her. Still, she wouldn't be a good foster mother if she didn't worry though. She remembered when she had been worried about being able to teach her how to fly, then one day the little birdling had just taken matters into her own wings.

Breathing in deeply, she brought her head down and glanced over to Isidore. His growth had been just as sudden. He had hugged her goodnight and then the next day he was a whole new person, in appearance at least. He was now taller than her and he certainly favoured their father's looks more. The new wings had been a small point of jealousy for her. Sure, they were small, but they might get bigger and become functional, something she wished very much that her feathered arms could do. She would have given anything to be able to fly with her brethren. Her eyes drifted away from his wings and swept over him briefly before turning forward to keep her from accidentally crashing into any stray headstones.

"I like your new clothes. They really suit you," she smiled and nodded approvingly. Out of the three of them, he had certainly been the most modest and well pressed. "Did Daddy take you to the market to get them?"

Isidore was also getting used to being a tall person. He was enjoying everything about it so far, he could make his own decisions and go anywhere he wanted. This was his first trip to the cemetery since he had grown. He had invited Kyrie along because he thought she might like to join him, Scim as ever trotted by his side. He had not been in the least part phased by his master's sudden transformation. He still knew who he was and was happily sniffing headstones and the long grass as they wandered.

Isidore was heading to the ruined church, he had plans for it, big plans. He knew his uncle had had something to do with it, though his uncle wasn't there, no one had seen him in years and so Isidore had decided he wouldn't mind him taking building for himself.
"Yeah." He replied to his sister's question. "In that new part, with the shops in buildings, there's a tailor there, he's good, with lots of different fabrics. I like the style of them." He wasn't sure why he favoured something so formal, his sisters were much more like his mother in the way that they dressed, floaty and bohemian.

"Oh! Yes. You know, I haven't been to that part yet. I like the old marketplace. I love how you can get lost in there for hours and never see the same thing twice," Kyrie grinned and reached out to let her fingers trail over a rough headstone as they passed it. "Maybe I should go and get something made. I bet Dad would have no objections to that," she joked and fluffed her feathers a bit with her free hand. She honestly couldn't think of anything less appealing. The thought of all that fabric felt suffocating. She enjoyed the feel of the sun and wind on her dark skin. It made her feel absolutely free.

"I haven't been here in a long time. Not since we tried to host that funeral to help Dad out," she smirked and looked up at the old, dilapidated building they were wandering towards. It looked different now that she was looking at it through slightly older eyes. As a child it had been full of mystery and adventure. Now she could see it for what it was and what it had been. Even in it's ruined state, she thought it looked beautiful.

Isi looked back to his sister as they walked along the trodden path through the long grass and smiled.
"Only if you want to wear more clothes." He said with a shrug. Their kind seemed to be able to wear whatever they wanted, just look at Kios. "I like the new town. It's neat, and it makes sense, I know where to look if I want something." As they walked he took in the state of the cemetery, the grass was growing fast, making it look wild. It was good for the wildlife but not good for the graves. They were disappearing in the green sea.

"I need to find someone to keep this place neat." He said as much to himself as to his sister. It was a big place with the refugees from the worlds outside using it for their dead too. A group of caretakers. "I come to the church sometimes, not as often as I used to though." He admitted.

Kyrie smiled as she listened to her brother. They were so completely different from one another, but that was what she loved best about him. Where she and her sister were free thinking and acted impulsively, he kept them balanced. She always felt like she had at least one talon still on the floor when she was around him and she believed that was a good thing. She wondered briefly if it was exhausting for him to have two impulsive sisters messing up his orderly life.

"Why not?" she asked, her attention and hand catching on the stem of a big, white flower. She plucked it easily as they kept moving forward and she began to admire the petals.

Why not indeed. He wasn't really sure and so he shrugged his shoulders. His suit rustled as he did so, it was a warm day but he did not feel it.
"I don't know." He said honestly. "Because I had other things to do. It's just a building too. But the mortals like it, I want to build them somewhere proper to come to. It always looks like it's about to fall down. I want to take it down and start again. Well, not me personally but I want to get people to help me. I want to make a place for people to bring their dead, something official."

Kyrie turned her blue eyes to her brother and she twirled the flower between her fingers as she listened to him. Looking back to the old church, she smiled a little. It would be sad to see the old building go. She liked how nature had made itself comfortable on the old stone and that the roof was gone and you could see the sky when you were inside of it.

"I will help you," she offered with a warm smile and she reached out to link her arm through his. She was a bit surprised by how big his arm felt, but then she mentally shook her head at herself. Of course it would be big now. When they had been children, they had all been fairly evenly matched in height and build, but growing had made them more individual and he would be more likely to grow to be more and more like their father. "It would be fun to help you. I would do anything that you would need of me," she promised with a nod.

Isidore hugged his sister's arm as she linked with him and laughed at her declaration. He couldn't imagine her doing any of the heavy work involved with constructing something, though maybe she could help him with other things.
"Well, you couldn't build it any more than I could. But I've seen people around the new town, builders, they might be able to do something. Mama might know. You could help me think of ways to decorate if you like? There are so many different types of people around the pantheon, some who like colour at funerals and music and some who like things quiet and black."

Kyrie laughed a little and nodded. He was right. There wasn't much she could do with the actual construction of the building, but he next suggestion definitely appealed to her.
"Yes! I would love to help you with that. I can go around and ask the people what they like. Collect ideas for us, see where the biggest needs and desires are," she declared with a decisive nod. "Then we can make a plan." She knew how much he liked to plan things out and for a venture this big and important, a plan would definitely be needed.

Isidore couldn't fault her enthusiasm really. He would be glad to have someone to help, or at least to talk through ideas with. They approached the old church and Isidore studied it, seeing it through older eyes this time. It still had an atmosphere about it, though he knew that underneath lay one of the gates to the underworld so that stood to reason. It was the perfect place for somewhere to aid the transition of the dead.
"That sounds like a good idea. I don't want anything crazy though. You can't cater for every type of person, but most styles. For example somewhere for cremation and for mummification." Both seemed easier to say now he was grown up.

"Of course. I promise I won't go crazy. I think that people will just be grateful to have a place to celebrate the lives of their lost ones," Kyrie smiled and squeezed her brother's arm. "Anything that you do will be special for them. You'll take good care of them."

Pulling away from her brother, she reached out to set the flower she held on on top of one of the older, larger headstones. Suddenly, she felt an odd feeling inside of her. Blinking a little, she pulled her hand away from the headstone and looked up. The feeling felt familiar and different all at once. She felt pulled.

"What is that?" she mused and walked distractedly away from her brother and towards the corner of the church. Stepping around it, she saw, well, she wasn't entirely certain. The air seemed denser somehow, like a shadow, but with substance. At the edge of her vision, she thought she saw the features of a face near the top of it, but when she turned her head to look more directly at it, it returned to being obscure.

Isidore had to smirk a little as she promised that she would not go crazy. If he had looked in a mirror he would have seen that it was quite similar to the expression his mother got when she was amused by something. Kyrie would go crazy, he knew that because that's how she was. She was passionate and he didn't mind that. He could do damage control.

At her distraction he looked up and across to where she was looking. He could see it though not as clear as his father or Aunt would have been able.
"It's a spirit." He said matter of fact. "They know that we're of the Underworld, they follow me sometimes."

Kyrie lifted her brows in surprise as he revealed what it was she was seeing.
"A spirit?" she repeated, tilting her head a little to try to see it more clearly. "Do you mean like the spirits we called here that one time?" When they had tried to hold the funeral service, she had felt their presence, though there had been so many it would have been hard not to feel them. But she had never seen one before. "I couldn't see them when I was little," she disclosed with a shake of her head and a note of awe in her voice.
PostPosted: Sat Jun 21, 2014 9:35 am

"Yep, there's only one kind of spirit as far as I know." Dead mortals, though he supposed there were different moods within the spirit world. "I can't guide them though, they just follow me. I tell dad or auntie Val about them. They lurk here waiting for their funeral sometimes, that can make them go on to the Underworld, a funeral. It helps them rest. You should speak with Auntie Val about them."

Kyrie continued to watch the spirit for a few moments longer, then turned her head towards her brother at his suggestion to speak with their aunt. She would certainly be doing that. She was curious about them now. Before, they had been a part of her world, but only on the peripheral. There, but not. Discovering that she could actually see them opened up a whole knew can of beans for her and she wanted to learn more. Perhaps there was even a reason why she could see them now. That thought was rather exciting. Taking in a deep breath, she moved closer to her brother and peered up at him.
"So... we just leave them alone?" she asked him.
