well im not crew or vice but the general idea is to donate gold so it comes out of the system or economy so that prices can be lower and also many users are trying to donate to guilds / others so that prices stay in check
or so this is my understanding of how this works. and at least to me it seems to be working on some level
for a better understanding you might want to quote or contact a vice or the captain for more details

Just because the money goes away, so prices drop? v.v Sorry for pestering you ^^; Anyway, thanks for taking time to try to explain to me. well if there's less gold on gaia altogether, people can't raise the prices too much otherwise no one can afford them. nowadays, people keep on selling premium items for super high prices in the mp and end up with loads of money on their accounts. this is what's been the main cause of the inflation, why the mp's revenue had skyrocketed for a while recently, the charts have also gone down, (probably the result of many factors ie. elysium's gate, these gold sink guilds etc.) but gaia's also been putting out gold generators such as all the multi-colour piggybanks and safecracker which go against fixing the economy so basically, that's where this guild and many other groups of gaians have decided to find ways to sink gold in order to go against that smile i hope this explanation wasn't too long and that you got all of that sweatdrop haha~ have a nice day and welcome to our guild xp

If people have that money and are buying, won't it just continue? well the definition of a gold sink is anything that takes gold out of the system. for example, this guild is one because once you donate gold into this guild, it is impossible to take it back out. even the owner of this guild cant take the gold out to use it for himself. however, it can be used to expand this guild smile therefore its out of gaia for good and it helps this guild grow. (haha, hitting two birds with one stone emotion_awesome ) and you do have a point. you can't really stop people from posting high prices, but we can at least help by using other methods. i know there are some people in this guild that are selling expensive items for much cheaper even if its at their loss just to cancel out the other people who are asking for insane amounts of money. others are avoiding those items, and many of us (including myself ) cant even afford them anymore. these methods all prevent poeple from buying the items that people are selling for super high prices and yes, if it does just continue then eventually there will be those few super rich people on gaia, while everyone else is left with much less, and thats why thats what we're trying to avoid by using the methods above some other things we have in this guild that all help the economy are: - constant giveaways biggrin - free raffles for once we hit our guild-wide goals - our guild's version of flynn's plunder (check out our sub-forums for our guild shop) - and hundreds of other users that all want the same thing heart which can eventually lead to a big change (recently there was a gaia walkout, and although it didn't seem to have too much of a big affect on gaia, maybe one day it will work when there are enough people smile )
