"So it seems we have our first prompt. What is the inherent nature of kin? Good? Evil? Something else?" The seer was clearly amused by such a question. Her characteristic knowing grin was, once again, on her face. Burning Bush turned to the other members of Westfen that were gathered for this event.
"Well, who wants to go first?"

Westward Bound looked at the rest of the group - Westfen's first seer, one of the clan newbies, and, well, his daughter. It was pretty sure who should go first, if that was a thing. He was to lead by example, after all, and he'd had experience doing that within Westfen's tiny group of builders. Plus, there was no way he'd let his own daughter beat him to the punch. "I don't think good and evil are good descriptors of kin," he began ponderously. His voice held none of Burning Bush's amusement.
"I mean, we're born dreaming, in our sacs. I think that's where I'd look, at least - if there's anything inherent to us, it's there. Longclaw and I founded the clan in the west because my own dream followed the sun. It may not be true for all of us," and here he paused, to resist glancing at Shameless. Her name was not nearly so neutral or clear as his own, or as Burning Bush's. Or even, well, Ashdown's. But he remembered his son, too - No Bloodstains seemed a little too obsessed with the pristine cleanliness of his own dream at times. "But I've often felt that dreams shape kin of all shapes."

There was something about this entire situation that really made Shameless question herself— why was she even here again? Her glowing eyes gleaned over the other kin present, ear giving a lazy twitch in response to the question that Burning Bush has posed. She did not speak up initially, knowing there were others who actually, well, wanted to be here and answer the prompt. She dug a golden hoof into the earth absentmindedly while her father prattled on, pressing a golden hoof into the earth with a languid motion.
"Well, it would make sense for anything inherent to be present in our beginning," Shameless said in a smooth tone, for once agreeing with her old man, "'Good' and 'evil' are too restrictive." though her mind couldn't settle on a word that suited her thoughts any better. As far as she was concerned, everyone's nature was inherent to themselves; some could fall into good and evil, she supposed, but there were far more things to be considered too.
Honestly it was hard to be bothered, though. She'd let the others talk, throwing out her opinion only if she really cared, or if anyone said something she found inane and stupid.
Ashdown listened quietly as the other kin gave their opinions. It wasn't often that he thought about philosophical questions like this one; he was more concerned with concrete things, the things he could touch and feel and experience. He nodded in agreement to what was being said, and when it came to his turn, took some time to ponder before replying.
"It seems like too broad a generalization to say that all kin have one inherent nature in common. Our inherent nature might as well be to have different natures, based on our dreams." He thought of the kin he had met in his travels, and in the tribe so far, and couldn't imagine categorizing any of them into one single category as "good" or "evil".

If Burning Bush agreed or disagreed with anyone's answer, she did not show it. As seer, it was her duty to guide her tribe, but this was not the place for her to show guidance. It was important for everyone to say whatever they felt was right. She withheld her own answer (amusement at the question and it's pointlessness) and moved on to the next prompt. "What makes a kin fit to lead or to rule over others?"
Again, with on of those philosophical questions. She turned to her tribe and waited to see what they would say.

He inclined his head at first his daughter's words, and then the new kin's. He didn't much care for questions like these himself, but he wanted Westfen to be able to prove itself. It was, after all, a capable clan, with capable members, and it was their banding together in their own rightful home that gave it that strength. But he listened to the next question anyway, and was pleased to find that something came to mind for him immediately.
Longclaw.
Of course that was Sun's first thought. "He must be a good orator," he began, because that was what he'd always admired about his best friend. "He must care about those he leads, both their opinions and their well-being - and those go hand in hand, for he must trust them, or he would not want to lead them." And of course there was the reason Longclaw had volunteered to lead the tribe instead of Westward Bound, despite the dream they'd first chased to Westfen lands. "He must also be able to divide his attention well." Sun himself had a bit of a tendency to zero in on things, he'd found - sweet, lovely Oathkeeper, building, his still-journeying son.
