Who: Thanatos & Melanie
When: A few weeks after Crawfish Broil...
Where: Gambino Cruiseline
Forecast: Slightly cloudy, comfortable breeze
PostPosted: Fri Jun 20, 2014 8:38 am

He had been nervous about bringing his bike to pick up Melanie for their first night out. Although they had planned to take a dinner cruise on Gambino's cruise line, he didn't want to pick her up in his dirty truck either. Domelvo didn't like the idea nor understand the concept behind dating so had taken it upon himself to make things difficult up until this moment. Sighing, Xan stared intently at her door wondering how horrible this date would be. He was out of practice and was making decisions by the seat of his pants.

With one last glance and sigh he knocked on the door holding a single Hocus Pocus Rose in his hand. If he were going to be cliche with roses, it might as well be a rose that was hardly used. The florist had told him not many ladies knew about this interesting rose. He had to admit it was rather unique. Plastering a smile to his face he waited for Melanie to answer the door.

Hours before the date was to be executed, Melanie began getting herself ready in a much fancier attire than she had worn to the crawfish boil a few weeks prior. "I am so nervous, Quinn." she stated to her best friend and coworker over the phone as she was getting her makeup on.

"Don't even worry about it. You'll be fine!" the friend consoled.

It had been a while since the woman's last official date. And nerves always brought out the ditzy, much less endearing side to her (or so she thought anyway). She was such a strong woman normally. Nerves in the workplace gave her such strength to push forward. But nerves whilst dating or with someone of interest? Not so much strength.

Finally, she heard a knock at her door. "Oh! He's here, a few final touches..." she began, then looking at herself intently in the mirror for a few moments, "...and done!" she concluded.

"Good luck, Mel; and remember to have fun and enjoy yourself!" Quinn said. "Love ya!"

"Alright, thanks. I'll try my best. Love you too. I'll text you if I need an escape plan." Melanie stated with a giggle at the end.

With a tap of the "End" button, she stood up, turned the phone on silent and placed it into her small bag. Taking one last look in the mirror, she smiled and checked her teeth and quickly made her way to the front door.

Taking a deep breath, she opened it and smiled brightly. She could feel the butterflies inside of her worming their way up her throat. "Hello there, Xan." she said ecstatically. Now she just had to wait for him to make the next move.

With an inward sigh he smiled brightly as the door opened to a cheerful Melanie. She looked rather stunning and he couldn't help stating as much, "You look lovely." He breathed while handing off the rose to her. Being so out of sync with dating he just sorta stood there a moment but then caught himself staring... with a light clearing of his throat he stepped aside. "I hope you're okay with riding. I brought my bike." Offering his arm in an old fashion gesture (he couldn't believe he was doing that but ... oh well), he smiled down on her hoping he wasn't being too cheesy, even though he couldn't help himself. It was all in good fun. A friend of his had once told him his cheesiness was his charm. He hoped so this evening. "I thought it would be fun to enjoy the ride to the docks. The weather is nice and you can watch the sun set while we ride along the coast."

The pale skin of the woman began to darken with red as she heard the compliment and handed her the beautiful, very unique rose. You look lovely. Well, what a way to start off the night! Her smile turned coy as she closed the door behind her and locked it, rose in hand. "Thank you so much. This rose is beautiful and so unique. What species is it?" she asked.

With the offer of his arm, she slid her's through with a smile. Yes, it had been a bit cheesy, but a hopeless romantic like herself loved being treated like a lady. Listening to his explanation about the bike, she smiled. Had she known the two would be riding, she wouldn't have worn her red dress. But, it was too late to change now. "Oh, yes...of course." she said in response. She was a thrill seeker and loved the idea of riding on the back of a bike. Watching the sunset whilst on a ride along the coast would definitely be a beautiful sight, she determined.

With slight hesitation, she wondered how this bike ride would go. "I've been on the back of a bike before, don't get me wrong, but never have I ridden with a dress on. So don't judge me." she said with a slight giggle as she waited for him to take her too it.

"Hmm? I'm not really sure of the species. I probably should have asked the florist." He gave a sheepish laugh smiling down at the pretty dress she was wearing. "I'll have to take the time to check that out later. It was the first time I'd seen such an interesting rose." As he escorted her near the bike he realized her slight hesitation but smiled just the same. It was then he realized that she hadn't seen the side car and was wondering how perhaps she'd ride the bike in her long dress. He chuckled lightly deciding to explain while they walked.

"Don't look so worried, lucky for me I have a charge who doesn't have a lower half. The only way to ride with him is putting him in a side car." He smiled showing her the side car that slowly came into view as they got closer to the bike. "I was going to take it off but hadn't gotten around to it. Good thing right?" He winked helping her over.

"As for the helmet I'm afraid there's no getting around that. The law is the law, ya know?" Pulling out a small helmet he handed it to her. "Its not a full face thankfully so it shouldn't mess up your hair. And with all the wind it will keep your hair from flying around too." Leaning forward as if to whisper a secret. "Besides I like the wind blown look, makes a woman look wild." He laughed and moved to his side shaking his head. "God I'm cheesy, please forgive me..." Placing his own helmet on his head he started the bike but looked to Melanie. "You ready?"

Her pale cheeks flushed with embarrassment as she approached the bike. How had she not seen the side car before speaking? Though it all made sense. She had seen the man's charge at the boil, he floated about and thus it was almost a necessity to have the little side wagon attached.

"Of course." she said, eyes flicking away a split second as she began to smile. "This will be a lovely ride, I'm sure." she stated, stepping into the cart carefully.

When the man handed her the helmet, at first, she didn't want her hair to be messed up. But she realized that it was a safety issue. She placed it delicately upon her head as Xan leaned in to whisper. Melanie couldn't help but smile and chuckle at his comments.

"There's nothing to forgive. And yes, I'm ready." she said, looking up at her date and then to the road, waiting for him to take off.

Xan sighed in relief double checking that she was strapped in and ready to go. Checking his watch he was satisfied with the time, they were on schedule. With a light chuckled he started the bike checking for cars before signaling and pulling out on the road. The wind was light thankfully so they could hear just enough over the cool air.

"We should get there with plenty of time to tour the ship.. I wasn't sure if it was appropriate, so I rented a cabin for you to rest before the festivities. My buddy is going to let me use his cabin so you can have the room to yourself." He paused a moment to allow her to process that before adding, "In case you wanted to spruce up from the wind tossin'." Having a socialite for a sister, the girl told him it was in his best interest to allow Melanie a place to clean up after riding in all that wind.

[ flash back]

"You can't let her ride in that thing... I mean c'mon big bro! She's a lady! She'll worry about her hair and stuff. Oh! I know rent out a cabin on the cruise ship. They have those for people to rest in between festivities and stuff, right?"

"La darlin' that's a little too forward....even for me."

"No it's not! Just tell her up front what it's for... if she's any kinda lady for my bro she'll understand and would consider you a gentleman for thinking ahead."

"I don't know..."

[ flash back end]

Xan cringed slightly at his little sister's sharp reminder that played in his head. He had caved easily and called up his buddy to hold an extra cabin for him. Watching Mel now, she seemed content and that was a good first start. "You okay? You're not cold or anything?"

Those bastards are making me go out to sea next week! crying It's only for a week but I don't want to do this any more.
Anyway ... sorry for the long wait darlin'. We can have the two strike up some lazy convo and then dump them on the ship for some quirky fun. Sound good?
