After a few hours of wondering around the town, Vega found herself at the playground, sitting on a bench partially shaded by a tree, and staring up at the clouds. There were only a few families out enjoying the pleasant weather; the park was still very serene even with the occasional glee-filled shriek of a child. It was in this tranquil atmosphere that the raven-haired woman allowed her thoughts to wander about the rest of the day.
A lot of things had changed for her recently. She became a teacher, retired as a bounty hunter, and she even bought a little house. She'd be staying in the same place for more than a few months. The last time she had that level of security she'd been living with her mother and brother. But that had been 15 years ago and a lot had changed since then.
Letting out a little sigh, Vega ran her hand through her hair, reminding herself that she should be thinking of the present now. Her first class would be later in the day, and meeting new people always made her a little nervous. More nervous than the average person. Of course she didn't show it, but Vega always treated each person she met as a potential threat; having spent so much time as a bounty hunter in the past cemented that little habit in her and now there was little she could do to shake it. Even though she doubted any of the teenagers in her class were actually dangerous she still felt a bit of nervous energy coursing through her body. To calm herself down, she took a cigarette out and lit it,"I need to stop smoking sometime soon..." she mumbled after taking a long drag from it.

Soma, wandering aimlessly, stumbled into what seemed like a park. He took note of the trees and examined them, as he loved nature. He then noticed a woman sitting on a bench in the distance. He starred at her a moment and walked a little bit closer to her. Soma noticed she was smoking and drew closer.
Vega's peace of mind was quickly lost when she heard the sound of footsteps slightly muffled by the soft grass. Going by the sound of the footsteps and the time in between each step, Vega quickly figured out that it was someone relatively young and tall, and probably male. She drew her eyes away from the clouds and confirmed her suspicions about the person walking toward her; she'd hit the nail right on the head. Vega looked him up and down once and then met his gaze,"So do you need something or are you just looking?" She asked in a flat voice after her taking her cigarette out of her mouth. This kid probably went to Paladin, but Vega was so new she'd never seen him let alone talked to him, and she didn't do very well with strangers.

Soma starred at the cigarette, and then her. He slightly opened his mouth and replied. "Smoking is bad you know?" forgetting about her question. He held out his hand, as if he were scolding a little kid, like as if he was saying 'Give it here.'. Soma had a blank expression while looking at her.
Vega gave the boy a look of mock surprised,"Oh man these things are bad for you? Crap, wish I'd known that when I started years ago."Vega replied with a little defeated sigh. She then reached towards his hand, the lit part of the cigarette facing his palm, as if she were going to put it out by smothering it against his bare skin,"But you know what, I don't think one more will kill me." She said suddenly, when the lit end was only a centimeter away from his flesh. Vega then brought the cancer stick back up to her lips and took another small drag, and blew the smoke in the opposite direction of the boy. She turned her head back to her little white-haired companion,"I'll ask again and I expect an answer this time; do you need something?"

Soma looked down at her and thought to himself, Woah, feisty... Not that I don't mind. He laughed a bit after she mocked him. He kept his hand out, so she could give it to him anytime. "Look, miss.. I don't really like watching people killing themselves, even it's very slowly. Especially, young beautiful girls such as yourself." he gave her a soft smile.
Vega let out a small sigh; she needed to reel it back a little. She had just been thinking about how she needed to turn over a new leaf and the first thing she did was being rude to some kid who wanted her to stop smoking. Forming her lips into a tight line, Vega dropped the nearly finished cigarette by her side, and caused it to burst into a small flame and little plume of smoke before reaching the ground. With a small shake of her head and a little sigh she spoke,"Listen bleeding heart, while your concern is appreciated it's unnecessary."She said in a soft voice before rising from the park bench,"Are you a student at Paladin?" She asked suddenly, not wanting to talk about her smoking habits anymore.

Soma backed up a little bit, seeing as the cigarette literally exploded. He looked back at her and noticed she had mentioned Paladin. "Yes ma'm, I am. Soma, Soma Futa." he had explained to her. "And you are?" Soma pulled his hand back to his side. "Are you a student too?" he asked her, seeing as she looked very young.
"Ahh, sorry about that." Vega mumbled after the newly introduced Soma backed away from her dropped cigarette,'He's probably human,' she thought judging from his reaction. After he asked her if she was a student she simply shook her head,"No I'm actually a new teacher there. Name's Vega, and it's nice to meet you Soma." She said, studying him for a moment,"So if you don't mind me asking, are you human? I was told the student body at Paladin was very...diverse."

Soma looked at her in shock. "A...A teacher...?! But you're so young.." he said in amazement. He shook his head and started to speak again after hearing her question. "I'm a human, with an 'ability'... I might say." he looked down at the pavement, "What about you, Ms. Vega?" he asked her in a low tone. "What are you?"
"Oh do I really look so young? I'm glad to know my smoking hasn't destroyed my youthful beauty," She replied with a little smirk. This Soma boy certainly was making it easy to tease him, or maybe Vega just had a knack for degrading teenage boys. She raised a brow at him,"Human with an ability? That's incredibly vague," She said with a click of her tongue,"I'm a half-elf. So what kind of ability are you talking about? Is it the type of ability like shooting lightning bolts out of your eyes or can you just do something like touch your nose with your tongue?"

Soma laughed at her remarks. He enjoyed mocking and sarcastic jokes. He looked up as Vega asked about his ability. "Well, I can focus my body and charge my aura. This aura, you see, enhances me physically and mentally. Mostly physically though. Basically, I have an ability that enhances all my other abilities. You following me?" Soma smiled at her as he was explaining.
Vega chuckled a little when Soma asked if she was following him,"Yes yes, I'm keeping up. It's not too hard of a concept to grasp. It must be a useful ability if you ever got in a fight." She said, mulling over his ability in her head,"Although ideally I guess you wouldn't be getting into fights."She added on, turning her gaze to him. She hadn't really thought about how much kids at the school may or may not be fighting with each other Of course it was a highschool, but the fact that a bunch of kids with powers were there as well any playing field could be seriously uneven.

Soma played with his collar with a bit, as he starred back into her eyes. " Well, i guess you're right, about it being useful I mean. I can hold my own in a fight and I won't back down from one. I love fighting actually, relieves stress. Like how you smoke and such." a big grin showed on his face as he talked about fighting.
