Waking in a morgue shelf was terrifying. His heard hurt badly and he could feel the cold of blood on the back of his head. It was freezing, and despite being sandwiched between two bodies, none of them offered warmth.
He had been found out, and whatever had been done had been done. He had no power to stop it. The golem was just dirt and did not bother him. Rin was Rin and was never vile to him, and he reached up, holding her a moment as he set his brow against her shoulder.
"I'm sorry." His hand touched her hair, frozen and dry, and he held her closer. He tried his best to save her, and here they were. H now knew Melvin was trying to take her away, and that meant he couldn't sneak her anywhere without everyone knowing who the culprit was.
And if he couldn't take her anywhere, then that meant her scheduled cremation would go without a hitch. That meant that she would burn to nothing and that all chance of her returning to life would be destroyed with her body.
There had to be a way to change that. There just had to be.
After a moment in the dark, he noticed the odd shape pressing agaisnt him from Rin's mouth, and took the phone from her. The fact H had shoved his phone into Rin's mouth made his blood boil, and he let his hand smooth over Rin's face as if to sooth her from experiencing such a indignity.
He read the message and wished he knew the man's number to write him back. It wouldn't be as pleassant.
Instead, he knew he had to get out of the shelf. It was freezing here and being sandwiched like this was unplesant. There just wasn't many people he could call to help him out of a morgue shelf when he was in such a position.
He called Rep - because Rep was really the only person he had now. Now that Rin....
He touched her cheek as he looked at her, face aglow from the blue light from his phone and only made the blue tint of her face even worse. ...so much blood lost......it would be hard for her to recover after. He'd have to be there for her when she woke up. Take care of her.
He texted Rep and waited, feeling around until he remembered that Rin was naked. He worked to take off his sweater, a hard task when his arms could barely move without hitting the morgue wall.
Shivering, he placed the sweater over Rin's back and backside, trying to offer her some dignity.

Rep had been grim since they'd gotten back from the mission. Rin wasn't gone, because she simply ******** wasn't, but that didn't mean that like Melvin he could truly convince himself that she would be coming back. Both concepts sat side by side in his mind and neither conflicted with the other.
Bad luck came in bunches though and a lot of his energy had been diverted to managing the train wreck of a relationship that had been taking place simultaneous with the fallout from the mission. He was overwhelmed and when he was overwhelmed it was like parts of his brain simply shut down to prevent themselves from overheating. He was in a kind of grim daze, apart from the world, denying himself sadness and denying himself anger.
When he got the text from Melvin he'd stared at it for a while before he handed the phone off to Harrison. "I need to go to the morgue." And of course inherent as always in that "I" was a "we" that didn't need to be articulated. And he was up and walking almost immediately, hovering blankly by the door to wait before moving down into the room.
The morgue itself was as grim as to be expected, but it was also empty apart from a few suspicious blood splatters on the floor which could have been from anywhere.
"Goldilocks?" Rep said irritably. "I'm no in the mood for ******** about."

YESSSSSSSS, B0nez hissed in victory. FIN-ally. Okay. Get the laptop. This is going to be great. I bet like, a ton of really great ones are down there they made practically everyone in the whole facility go, so-
Harrison grimly put on a casual jacket.
We're not bringing the laptop, he thought.
WHAT. How are we going to record?? We never go down there. We never do anything I want to do!
We always do what you want to do, we're just not ******** doing that.
He'd read over the texts with Jordan a lot of times. It wasn't good timing, dealing with all the various kinds of s**t- Rep always took deaths hard.
He was suspicious, mostly. If Melvin was going to do something stupid- and worse, going to get Rep in danger over it, he had another thing coming.

Melvin didn't have room to play around. Hiding inside of a morgue shelf was not his idea of playing a fun joke either. In fact, he didn't really play pranks on Rep at all. Not of this nature anyways.
When he heard Rep's voice, Melvin looked up to the lid of the shelf and adjusted himself in order to raise his arm and started to knock on it. "REP! HEY! I'm in here! Get me out of here!" He called out.
Ugh. His head was pounding just hearing his own voice.

Rep stared at the body drawer in numb horror as his brain processed the fact that Melvin's voice was coming from inside the ******** thing. His mind went a lot of places. A lot of strange places.
"Okaay." he said distantly, frowning as he made his way over to the drawer and forcibly tugged it open.
What he saw inside made even more areas of his brain shut down reflexively.
"What the ******** Melvin. What the ******** ********." he snarled, backing up, putting Harrison between the mess and him. It wasn't that gore upset him, it wasn't that blood and viscera bothered him, it was that it touched right upon a raw and terrible vein of denial and was indescribably uncomfortable to touch.

Harrison flinched, but to be fair he'd seen his fair share of gore and body parts.
It was like working in McDonalds and seeing a bag of frozen fries.
"Uh," he said, and then, as tactfully as possible, "You get locked in?"
Because what exactly Melvin had been doing in the body drawer, Harrison wasn't interested.

He winced at Rep's yelling, turning red from both anger at himself, anger at Dr. H, and at Rep yelling at him, not to mention the embarassment of being in such a situation and frustration with what he was going to do now.
"Geez. Keep it down." He said, holding Rin as he lifted his legs and turned before sliding off the slab and onto his own feet. He stumbled forward before he leaned back to lean against the open shelf. Blood dribbled down Rin's body and to the floor, and he looked down to make sure she was okay before turning over and shoving the golem off onto the ground.
Slowly, he set her back on the slab, making sure to arrange her body neatly and leaving his sweater on top of her now as if tucking her in for the night. He touched her cheek lightly for just a moment and made sure to close her mouth which was hanging open now due to having a phone shoved in it from before.
He turned back to Rep and Harrison who were both looking at him. "I didn't lock myself in. Dr. H put me in there with her." He said, and touched the back of his head before wincing. His eyes went to the wall near the door and then to the floor. "After smashing my head in." He added.
"Guy's a lunatic." He looked at his hand to see if there was any blood but after laying under Rin all this time, it was hard to tell. His clothes were stained again - the second pair now.
He turned back to Rin and then to the door. He could easily take her - but that would mean he would burn with her. It wasn't such a bad thought, and he had hoped it was a bluff.
Hope - but he wasn't sure.
He needed to figure a way to buy Rin more time.

"s**t, that's your blood?" Harrison asked, stepping instinctually closer.
He paused short of touching Melvin's head.
"Mind if I have a look?"

Rep had his back to the mess around Melvin, staring almost dazed at the wall. He wouldn't turn around.
"What did you do to make H do that?" he asked.

He looked to Harrison and then slowly turned to face Rin, looking down at her. His hands arranged the sweater more neatly before lightly touching where he was sure Dr. H had looked at Rin.
"He wanted to preform an autopsy on Rin with Dr. Stephan."
The golem was still on the ground.
"And I already was taking her away."
He rubbed her arm as if to sooth her, but it wasn't for her.
"He sent Dr. Stephan away and locked me in here with him. We had a talk and...."
He tried not to move as Harrison inspected the back of his head, but gritted his teeth at the memory. "He thinks he owns everything here and got pissed when I said he didn't. He's an overgrown child and a huge a*****e!" He wished he had the power to put up a decent fight against Dr. H, but he wasn't even a full hunter yet.

"Saved my a**. And Rep. I don't like...I mean, it's shitty, but they would have put him down a bunch of times already and it was H that let him in a division and made sure it didn't happen. If we're going by who he's directly ******** saved he ******** everybody that's on the planet, at this point."
Harrison unclipped his kit, dabbing up the blood.
"Might need stitches," he grumbled. "I told you not to do anything stupid. You're ******** lucky he caught you."

"Lucky?!" He spun around, staring at Harrison.
"It would have been lucky if he hadn't shown up till later. I'd already have her out of here and someplace safe. Now they are going to incinerate her and if I so much as carry her out of the door, that a*****e said he was going to burn me with her. How is that lucky?!"
He looked to Rep who hadn't turned around to see them. How could they justify the actions of someone who was insane and disrespectful for people's lives as that man had been. "I'm not his property. Neither is Rin. None of us are. Just because I save someone on a mission doesn't mean they are mine."
He looked to Harrison. "You said people wake up in the morgue. How am I supposed to delay her cremation now? If her body is burned up, how can she come back?" His voice was high, raised and frantic. What was he supposed to do now?
"Rep.." He called to his friend. Rin's friend. "...we can't let her die like this."

"She won't die." Rep said. "She won't die. But taking her away won't help." And it caused him pain to say it out loud, to justexpose the conflicting statements so close together. Because people always ******** tried to argue. They tried to say because someone was burned away or buried they were dead and gone for ever and he knew, knew inherently in his very bones that they weren't. They were still there and they could come back. They could come back if you just earned it. Like his mother, she had left, she had left for reasons, but if he fixed them, if he mended the reasons she could come back. Rin could come back, everyone could come back, they just needed to fix the s**t that was broken. Everything was broken. It just needed to be ******** mended and it would fix everything.
"They can burn her Melvin. It stops her from being a ******** zombie. They can burn this body, this whatever it is. But she's not dead, she won't be dead. She can come back."
But he didn't turn around still, and he didn't argue about the fact that H owned every ******** one of them, there was no point. Harrison was right, they needed him, and that was all there was to it.

He looked cautiously at Rep. It was like balancing plates. He couldn't say, Rep's got the same definition of dead as he does gay.
"I said two ******** people woke up in the morgue, in the history of the thousand ******** people who have died on this island. Two people who didn't have any ******** injuries. People that...must have gone, dormant somehow. From turning into fog monsters. She's not them. She's dismembered. She's missing organs. It's like Rep said. It's lucky because if the island warps her ******** body the monster that's leftover will kill you."
