Black nostrils flared as a unicorn mare ambled forward, a scowl plastered onto its face. Dotty McFearsome hated everything. She hated the birds, she hated the trees, she hated the earth, and most of all, she hated the heat. Well, today, at least. The subject of her aggression would surely change tomorrow or the next day. It always did. Everything angered the bitter mare, it seemed. Nothing could possibly go right. She grumbled at the sky as she pushed on through the blazing sun, rolling her eyes. Dot muttered curses under her breath, completely unaware of the mare skulking closely behind.

Batibat Lili had first caught a glance of the obviously unhappy unicorn at the edge of the forest, headed into her domain. The kirin kalona hybrid quickly began stalking the other mare, her tail low and her eyes narrowed to slits. Her wings were pressed closely to her body and Batibat's breathing was slow and steady. There was no way that she was going to let this intruder go unnoticed, especially with it being so angry. Several times, she had seen others so upset that they took it out on the small forest creatures or the trees. Batibat was on a quest to protect her beloved forest, and she refused to stand by idly to allow something careless to happen to it.

Dotty's angry thoughts had clouded her senses and her ability to pay attention to her surroundings. By the time she realized the possible predator was there, it was far too late. The kirin-kalona was right at her heels, and she sped forward before whipping around to confront her stalker. "Do you mind?" She rolled her eyes. "You know, there's this thing called, 'personal space,' and I am very fond of it. So back off!" She took note of the other mare's breed and stayed in a defensive position, ready to fight if necessary. She didn't care, though. A fight could be fun, and it'd probably help to get some of her anger out. Then again, it could be horribly hot. The unicorn thought about it silently, awaiting her brightly colored pursuer's likely violent response. She glared, her tail swaying to and fro impatiently and her muscles tensing in preparation for the probable lashing she was about to receive.

Batibat was startled by the other mare's sudden response to her presence. She jumped a bit, which caused her suspicion to instantly turn to anger. How dare she speak to her that way! Batibat was the protector of the forest, the keeper of the peace! She fumed for a few moments before responding. "Excuse me? Personal space?!" She laughed at the mare. "You silly unicorn, this is my space! And you're too caught up in yourself to see that!" She lunged forward, if only to watch the other mare twinge. "And here you are, crushing things and stomping through so carelessly! Have you no compassion for other living things besides yourself? What about their 'personal space?!'" Her anger only grew as she spoke. "For one to be so selfish is simply unfathomable!"

Dotty McFearsome was taken back by the other creature's response. A tree hugger? Surely she had to be kidding! The unicorn snorted in amusement and rolled her eyes at the other mare. "All this over some weeds? Seriously?" She grinned and shook her head. "You know, maybe asking nicely would get you more of a response. Though I doubt it would get anything more than your clashing colors would." The heat now meant little to the mare, and she was eager to agitate the beast, her tail swinging in a bored fashion. "But seriously, now, what about the circle of life? I mean, they grow, we eat them, we die, we fertilize them. So it's not like we don't give back or anything. I think that for me to be able to step on a little leaf every now and then is warranted, it's not like I'm trying to kill the whole forest or anything."

Her lips curled as the lesser spoke, and her eyes had become narrowed to slits. Batibat's nostrils flared with her temper, and she was growing shorter with the unicorn as she stepped forward. "Circle of life be damned, little hag, you may become fertilizer more quickly than you had intended." Her snarling mouth gave a warning and her saliva began to foam like that of a rabid dog's. "While eating to survive is one thing, senseless destruction is another, and there is simply no excuse for such behavior other than incompetence. How would you like it if you were defenseless and something much larger and fiercer came and just snuffed you out? Just because they could." She couldn't help but grin at the thought. "Because, you know, wretch, something could easily do just that, and take all the pleasure in the world from it." She moved forward again, a mad gleam in her eye.

She suddenly got very serious at the half-kalona's threats and her amusement turned to worry. Her heart began beating quickly and her tail twitched uncomfortably as she backed up with the other mare's advances. Dotty huffed, trying to play the situation off as being something she was completely acclimated to. "Oh, as if anyone would even consider doing that. It'd be a horribly daft thing to do, especially considering who my mother is. If she found out what had happened, she'd probably snap." She dropped a line to the other mare, her voice beginning to shake and her tone slightly childish. "And nobody really likes it when she does that." Dotty hoped that the mare would take the bait and become interested, and that perhaps it'd buy her some time to get away.

The other mare's words practically bypassed Batibat's ears as she lunged forward. "Do you really think that I care who your mommy is? If I met her, I'd tell her how much of a spoiled little child she had raised, and how rude and narrow minded you've become. And if I ever do meet her, I'll be sure to tell her how you cowered and begged for my forgiveness, and how you promised to never hurt a living thing again." She paused for a moment and allowed a wicked grin to cross her face. "And then I would tell her how it didn't matter, and how I killed you and ate your flesh anyway." The hybrid had pushed the other mare into a tight grove of trees, and there was hardly hope of the unicorn escaping now.
