It had been some time since he'd been in Eowyn, having gone home to drop off orbs and to enjoy the fun that was being home with his family. There was never a dull moment when he was back home that was for sure, though it was made even more interesting by way of Yrre's appears. As prickly as the boy was he actually found him to be a lot of fun. He rather reminded him of Madryn, they were both eager to strangle him when he chatted them up, called them by the wrong name, or tried to drag them off on adventures. Still, he couldn't help but to like them. The grumpier they got the more he wanted to snuggle them... it made him wonder at times if he was a masochist or something.
Those kinds of thoughts aside he was happy to be back even if his reason for being here was one that wasn't exactly a good thing, that reason being the Mara. They were a danger from the sounds of it, one that had a bounty out on their heads. It was a strange thing, the idea that there were elemental warriors skulking about in Eowyn. He saw no reason not to take a few of them on, he knew that soon enough he was going to visit with Marcus anyway. He had to bring him more Dragon Orbs anyway, to prove that he was working hard for his people, so why not bring along a few Mara heads home with as well as? It would only prove his dedication, right? That was what he hoped at least.
Looking up at the little fairy that was perched on his head between his horns, snoozing away, he gave a little smile, "Ember, my beauty, I am going to be hunting soon. Are you gonna stay up there this time?" He asked of her. The question drew a squawk from her as she jerked up right, looked around the area, then scrambled to get down from his head and into his pack instead. He starred a moment then started to laugh, "Oh, Ember... you are too cute. You don't have to worry we haven't found one of them yet. We are going to keep going though until we... oh wait, scratch that. Stay in there, Ember, I see a couple. Oh man, just look at them, they are made of rocks! I was told they were but it's different to actually see it!"
Making a motion with his hand he drew forth a small pillar of sand, twisting into a solid piece, and set his pack down on it, "You wait here." He said he went rushing forward headlong toward the pair of rock bodied Mara. Being a Gaili himself he couldn't help but to look forward to this battle. As he went forward he made a few motions with his hands, first gathering the sand to him, letting it twist around his hands to form gauntlets. Once he had them in place the next thing he did was launch a mass of pillars the way of the pair. One of them was able to dodge out of the way, though barely, but the other one was pummeled and knocked to pieces. It was something that had Karayan starring, eyes rather wide, "Whoa... that was more then I expected." He said to himself, tilting his head to one side, eyes wide. He'd never shattered anything before... ah well, time to try to finish off the other one. This sort of fight was rather interesting, not to mention that in fighting these things he was helping his people! There was nothing better then when things were helpful and fun at the same time!

Karayan whirled around to face the second Rock Mara, giving a bit of a grin as he sent to gathering forth more earth to work with. He made a motion with his hand, sending it forward in a big wave toward the one that was in front of him, giving a bit of a grin as the sand overwhelmed it, burying it. He couldn't help but to laugh, feeling good about his battle with the creature... that was until it started to dig itself out, "Oh, oops. I'd better not let it squirm its way free or else Ember is gonna scold me." He said with a laugh, making a few more motions with his hands, twisting the sand around the creature that much more tightly, holding it in place with only its head and one hand above the sand. The creature struggled against Karayan's control. The more it struggle the tighter that he had to hold the Mara and the tighter he held it the more cracks that started to appear upon the Mara's body... until it finally broke.
He watched as the dark green soul within the Rock Mara went flying out of it's broken body, fleeing from the scene. He turned, following its path, then jumped when he noticed another pair of the Rock Mara that had appeared off to his side. He turned to look over at them, giving a bit of a whistle, "Wow, there are more of you? Alright, well, let's go!" He said, lifting a hand to motion at the pair to come his way. He was quite eager to keep going, to keep fighting Mara if they wanted to keep appearing before him... and he had to admit that he was curious too. They were made of rock, right? Did that mean that he could manipulate them as he did normal rock? He would have to try that out he thought to himself, making a motion with his hand, doing his best to take control of one of the Mara's hand. It was difficult to do, he normally didn't deal with animated rock before, but he was able to hold onto it for a moment... before it yanked free of his control before the pair came charging at him.
Giving a squeak, "Aw, come on! I had to check." He said, making a motion with his hands to get the hand to push him backwards away from the Mara before he dragged a sand wall up between himself and the two of them. Alright, well, now he knew he could sort of catch hold of them, they were rock after all, but he wasn't quite strong enough to really hold them under his control for long. He supposed that he would just have to fight them the normal way, a shame, he bet that catching one of them and bringing it back with him might be useful when it came to really learning about their enemy, huh? He'd just leave it to the stronger Gaili to capture them if Marcus decided he wanted to take one alive... well, if it was possible at least. The souls seemed able to flee their forms when the form was destroyed, could they flee by choice? It was a question that nearly had his eyes going cross. Bleh, no, he didn't want to think about it, that was way to much thinking for his liking. He would fight them, collect their heads for Marcus, and he'd bring them back home with him when it came time to do so.
Making a few motions with his hands he lifted it up into the air, dragging the sand up higher, then sent it flying forward toward the creatures that were behind the 'wall' of sand, tangling them up in it, slowing them down as they tried to charge at him. The fact that he was very much in his element in Eowyn helped out a lot when it came to battling anything that lived here. He made a few motions with his hands, causing the sand to twist into some spikes, and he dragged them upwards, some of them slamming into the creatures. One of them took a few blows but was able to bounce back by the other was overwhelmed by the attacks and broken up. A lot of the pieces were swallowed up by sand, with some glittering pieces left on the top of the sand. He was curious about that, he'd check it out later, but for the moment he had one more of them to deal with.
Turning to look over at the remaining one he prepared to fight it, lifting his hands up, wielding his sand gauntlets, "Hey... you look like you lost an..." He trailed off, a cold chill going up his back as he took in the lost arm on the Rock Mara. He felt a bit on the queasy side, lifting one sand covered hand to his face, holding back the feeling of nausea that overwhelmed him. No, no... he wasn't like the Peisio, these Mara weren't like Madryn. They were dangerous enemies, not cute little Orderites. They were something that the Dovaa leader saw as dangerous enough to put a bounty on. He couldn't let himself falter now, not when the thing was coming after him. He shook his head, clearing it, "Wake up Kara, you can't let him beat you! Move! Move, now!" He yelled at himself, lunging backwards a couple steps before he set a massive rush of sand at the final Mara, letting it get swallowed up.
It took but a moment for its slow to squirm its way out of the sand, rushing off away from Karayan. The Gaili Dovaa watched it go before giving a sighing sound, "Eesh, that was intense." He muttered to himself, letting the sand fall off his hands so he could go and inspect the glittering things in the sand. After a moment he realized what it was, moonstones! Really pretty ones and quite a few of them. He set to work scooping them up, calling out, "Hey, Ember! Jewels!" It was a word that had the normally cowardly fae dragon racing over to where he was, grabbing one of them up, stealing it for herself, before racing back to the pack. He laughed before he continued collecting the jewels as well as the other various treasures that the Mara had dropped. Once the treasures were all put in his pack with the purring Ember he then used his powers to gather and bring the heads over to where he was standing. Four heads so far, but he was sure there were more to come.

Karayan and his fae dragon companion were once more on the move, heading in what was basically an arbitrary direction. He wasn't quite sure which direction he should go to find anymore Mara. He'd finally decided that just wandering around would help him out as far as finding them went. Since he didn't know where they came from, where they went, or how far they wandered around during their patrols of sort. He gave a sighing sound, letting his head fall back, starring at the sky as he walked along, "Ugh... Ember! This is so boring! Where are they? Surely we didn't beat them all, right? I mean that was only four!" Surely that couldn't be it, right? There had to be more Mara around, right? If not that would have been one of the shortest battles that he'd ever been on.
Ember didn't seem as though she cared though, she was still tucked away into his pack, curled up with the moonstones as though she were in love with them. He somehow bet that he wasn't going to get them back now that she had seen them but he would see if maybe he could pry a few of them out of her spoiled grip. He supposed that it would all depend on how many times she nipped at him. If it was too many times he might just have to give up on the stones and just let her have them since it would be easier and he would be able to avoid her sulking. The little fae dragon peeked her head out of the pack, giving a crooning sound, looking up at him cutely... then suddenly jerked her head to the side, starring at something that was sparkling in the distance. Giving a squealing sound she set to trying to squirm her way out of the pack, taking a couple flaps forward before Karayan caught of her, pulling her back.
"Hold up, Ember." He said, hugging her to his chest, "Those might be dangerous, do you really want to rush into a battle all by yourself?" He asked of Ember, something that had her questioning her initial desire to rush toward the sparkles. Instead she was quick to climb up his arm, wrapping herself around his neck, and seemed to be waiting there. He turned to look at her, giving a little laugh before he continued on forward, "Alright, I will see what it is and decide if you can have it, alright?" He gave her a kiss on the head before hurrying forward, gathering sand to himself, wrapping it around his hands so that he could make his gauntlets just in case the shiny thing wasn't just a treasure that they happened to stumble across in the desert. As they got closer until he was glad that he was prudent enough to get his weapons ready because he realized that they weren't treasure, they were Mara that were made of metal and seemed to be decorated with blue jewels. The look of them had Ember squealing and nipping as Kara, as if to demand that he defeat them so she could have them.
A bit of a laugh escaped from him before he nodded, "Alright, alright." He said, charging forward, meeting the first of the Metal Mara in the middle, the two of them having come at him at the same his charge started. He drew back his fist and swung it forward, slamming it into the first of the two, sending it flying back into the other one with a massive dent in its metal chest. The damage had Ember nipping at him that much more, "Ow! Ow! Ember! I'm sorry, I will try to be more careful!" He said, lunging forward, entangling the dented Mara with sand, then made a whip of sorts out of the sand and used it to pop the Mara's head off. The moment that it was beheaded the blue soul within the armor fled.
The moment it was gone Karayan turned toward the other one, preparing for round two while Ember squawked up a storm, seeming gleeful now that one set of the armor had been defeated. She meant to claim it as her own... at least once the other one had been defeated. For the moment she cheered Karayan on, wanting to get to her claws on the armor as soon as possible.

Karayan took a couple steps back, making a few motions with his hands, gathering the sand up in churning mounds at his side before he sent them flying at the Metal Mara that was charging at him. It dodge to one side, spun around, and took a swipe at him with it's long pole arm. It was obvious that this Mara wasn't going to go down without a fight. It was something that only had Karayan smiling though as he made a few more motions with his hands, gathering some of the sand into tightly compacted balls and flung them at his opponent. A few hit, causing little dents and dings, but not solid damage. It was a lot harder to deal with them when it came to trying to take them down without doing too much damage. He wanted Ember to have first dibs on the piece of the armor that she wanted after all. She was a spoiled little thing but he just couldn't help it. He loved her and would give her whatever she wanted even if it was something silly such as a piece of Mara armor.
"This one seems a bit more aggressive, Ember, I think I will deal with it on my own." He said, making another pillar to put his pack on, something she retreated to, as he charged toward the Metal Mara, taking a couple of swings at it with his sand forged gauntlets. He knew that Ember would be displeased with him if he dented of the armor too much but better dented armor and a grumpy Ember then getting any real damage done to him by the Mara. Given the weapon that it was holding in its hands he knew that it would be quite capable of dealing out some damage, as such he would see about avoiding it to the best of his ability.
Looking the Metal Mara over as he took swings at it that the most important thing that had to be done was taking its weapon away from it. Once that was done it would be at least a little less dangerous though he doubted that it would be completely subdued. No, that would take him taking its head and at the moment he didn't see an opening for that. As such he was just doing his best to stay on the offensive, sending many punches at the Mara, while looking for an opening to take its weapon away. It was a bit of a battle, he couldn't let up after all, not if he wanted to keep the Metal Mara retreating, but he did so long enough that the thing final faltered just a bit... which was more then enough for Karayan. He was quick to send a long, tendril of twisting sand at the Mara. It wrapped around its weapon, pulled it free of its grip, and yanked it underground. With the Mara weaponless at least now he could proceed without having to worry about getting stabbed. A definitely bonus in his book.

Karayan continued the forward battle, pushing the Metal Mara ever backwards. He was doing so to keep it off balance but also to keep him away from where Ember was hiding. He couldn't say that he knew what the Mara might do to a tiny little thing like her but she meant too much to him to even risk it. He would keep the Mara, all of them, away from her. He was the sort that wanted to protect those he cared about and one of those was Ember.
"Come on, Mara, let's finish this he said, giving it a good upper cut, sending the Mara flying through the air before it he made a few motions with his hands, entangling the unarmed Metal Mara's arms in more of the sand tendrils before he tightened them around the creature, doing his best to hold it in place. This close to one of them that was all bound of and held in place had Karayan both excited and a little on edge. He wanted to get a better look at them, a closer look, so that he could learn about the strange being. This sort, the Metal Mara variety, sounded hollow when he struck his fists against them, as though they were echoing inside. Save for the colorful, blue soul in this one and the various little things they dropped like the metal bars, they had to be empty, right?
He leaned in a little closer to the Mara when it suddenly lunged forward, popping off its own arms so that it could come after Karayan, knocking its helmet against Karayan's head. It both dented the Metal Mara and left him seeing stars and tiny dragons going about his head, "Oh... wow... that's pretty... ow..." He said, dropping the sand from one hand, lifting a hand to rub at the spot he was certain was gonna end up bruised and swollen. Not very nice on the part of the Mara but he had to admit that he was rather impressed. It had sacrificed parts of itself so that it could come after him. Impressive but something that was going to leave him with quite a headache. Best that he tried to defeat this Mara before said headache caught up with him.
Taking a couple steps back, one hand still clutching his wound, before he lifted his hand up to manipulate more of the sand, sending it flying at the now truly unarmed Metal Mara, sending it flying back a short distance before the sand started to entangle the Mara once more, this time holding onto its body instead of just a piece it was willing to pop off. It was a lesson to be learned for sure, a painful one, but a useful one. He would be more careful the next time that he tried to entangle a Metal Mara. It did make him wonder if the Rock Mara were able to take themselves apart as well. He wasn't sure but he meant to keep it in mind if he ran across more of the rock bodied Mara, "Alright, time to finish this, I feel a headache coming on."
