Would you look at that!

It was a passing thought for the bright mare as she stood overlooking the ocean views, a literal sea of sparkling blue under the warmth of the summer's sun. Everything was still a little wet and damp this morning, it was yet another storm in the midst of the rainy season. Sharada had noticed how much it stormed closer to the sea coast than it did closer to the mountains....even if they did get more snow in the winter. Yet no matter - today was sunny and it was her first time seeing the beach.

How could she dwell on something as stupid as rain when it wasn't raining??

"Woo!" She hollared, prancing and kicking as if she was but a filly chasing a butterfly for the very first time. She almost biffed it when her hooves hit the soft sands and threw her off balance but luckily...hopefully no one had seen that err in judgement. Racing down the beach she noticed little crabs, seaweed, seashells and more; only stopping when she reached soaked sand and before she had time to take a breath...the waves crashed and whisked past her hooves.

The quills in her mane immediately stood up as the chill of the sea tickled both her body and of course her excitement.

"Oh wow!" Sharada felt her eyes light up in stars, leaning her head down and taking a sniff and a exploratory lick of the water. Immediately she scrunched her nose up and scraped it along her teeth. "Oh ew...salty." She laughed, more or less at herself as she recalled her parents telling her of the sea and the wonders of the world but she just had to experience them for herself! She wanted to do it all, and although she had all the time in the world...Sharada felt she was overflowing in sheer glee that she could pretty much do whatever she wanted now out in the world. It was her first desire to come to the ocean, then maybe the mountains! Or the swamp...or maybe even the jungle. Everything seemed so good...how on earth was she going to pick first?

Surely if she didn't think it through logically she'd run herself to the ground trying to reach everywhere in the first week. She wasn't stupid....just really....excited.

Yet, she was going to do this right. The mare just needed to calm down and focus first as she splashed around in the water; enjoying the feel of the water against her hooves and belly. Who knew - maybe she'd see a whale, or mer, or seathi...or whatever else lived in the water!

Sunny was beginning to think he had everything figure out. He had left his beachside home years ago, the last of his siblings to leave the figurative nest. Or was it literal? Oh, he couldn't remember which one was what. Either way, he had left and gone and that was that! Granted, the pale coated stallion hadn't intended to go terribly far -- just far enough to find himself, as his brother and sister had done.

Unfortunately, he didn't really know what finding himself entailed. . . . He thought he knew himself pretty well before then, but apparently stallions were supposed to go out and see the world, figure out a bunch of things, and then come home wiser and stronger and better than before. It was a bit of a shame really -- Sunny didn't feel any different than before, and while he might have grown stronger, he . . . he wasn't sure he found himself at all. So that meant he couldn't go home, and until he had discovered some meaning or some worth, he was stuck.

Another thing that kept him stuck was the fact that he had absolutely no idea where his home was! He knew they lived on a beach, but he'd turned himself so far around, and been gone or years, he really had no idea how to get back. That was . . . that was all right though. He loved his family, but he was in no rush to return. He would find them when the spirits guided his hooves back to their beach and their hills. For now though, he'd found himself on some sort of beach. . . . and that was a pleasant surprise! The salty air had called to him, and while it certainly had a homey feel, it was unique than from Honeycomb's beach! So it was, the stallion let himself trot closer to shore, and what on earth did he find but some mare playing in the water! She certainly looked like she was having fun!

It had been some time since he'd found himself with company, so the stallion trotted forward at an easy gait. "Hello there~!" He called out, hoping the ocean breezes wouldn't rip away his words. He also hoped the other might not worry -- he was large for a stallion, huge, really, due to the mutant blood within his veins. He sported horns just like his father, and more than a few scars from foalhood and youth spars and mistakes. A few came from his brother's goading and his sister's experiments. . . but he didn't mind. His mother once said they gave him character. . .even if he'd never been given anything from the ocean except seafood, seashells, and water!

Oh well.

Who was he to doubt his mother?
