To make sure that she remained safe Junjie had left Keona behind in the camp with Abellio, not wanting for the little one to be left without a good bodyguard at a time like this. Especially given that Junjie and Arjan were heading out on a patrol. There were a lot of dangerous things out there at the moment that were presenting themselves to the small group that he had joined up with. It had taken some time for them to get the news that others, those who lived in the big cities, got a lot quicker then them, the news that explained what the creatures were and where they had come from. Upon learning the origin of the Mara Junjie just couldn't find it in himself to be all that shocked though. After everything he'd seen in his life the idea that Aevah would create living weapons didn't really phase him all that much. When he was younger it might have shocked him more but now, well, it only made sense that the leader of a faction would do such a thing. They would do most anything for victory after all.
Still, there were bounties on the heads of the Mara and he supposed that since they would be fighting them anyway that he should just enjoy the added bonus. They couldn't very well leave the Mara roaming about, not when the creatures were a threat to the safety of their group. They had a plan in mind, the group was slowly making its way toward a city where Hybrids were welcome, feeling it was the best place for them to go while the Mara were making trouble. Not to mention that if there were bounties on there heads then there would be that many more warriors out there, warriors that could prove a threat to them because of their mixed group. It wasn't only Keona but also the young son of Keona's wet nurse, both were of mixed blood, both needed to be protected from many dangers.
"We will keep our eyes out for the Mara, deal with them as we see them, hopefully in smaller groups. We don't know enough about them to take on a lot of them at once." He said to Arjan, his hand tightening on his dragon headed staff as they walked along, the hot sands shifting under their feet.
Arjan gave a rumbling sound in his throat, looking around a moment, then he gave a bit of a jerk when he caught scent of something that he didn't care for. It was the scent of the Mara he realized a moment later when the creatures came into sight. Arjan took a step closer to Junjie, teeth barred, "Seems like we found a pair. Time to wipe them off the map before they can get any where near to the camp." He told Junjie before he took in a deep breath, gathering electrical energy as Junjie did the same thing with his grassy green energy.
The two big, bulky, Rock Mara turned toward them as though sensing the energy that the pair were gathering... and just as they turned Junie and Arjan released their spells in sync with one another. The blast of magic mixed together as it flew forward, making that much bigger of an orb of power, and struck the two Mara head on shattering them. The dark green souls that powered the rocky bodies fled quickly, leaving the pair to walk over to the broken up rock bodies, looking them over, before Junjie said, "That went better then last time... but we can't let our guard down. We should continue the patrol, there's bound to be more of them out there." It was a statement that had Arjan nodding before the two of them headed onward with their patrolling.

It really wasn't all that much longer into their patrol that they ran across yet more of the Mara though again, these ones were different. A trio of metal clan, knight like creatures, meaning that thus far there were three different types of Mara that Junjie had run across. He gave them a once over before looking at Arjan, "We will have to be sure to report back to our group about the various types of these that we have met up with so far." The fact that they came in different varieties was something that was quite interesting to him, not to mention that it meant that there could very well be other types as well. They were going to have to remain on alert at all times given there were more of these now then the first time that he'd run into them.
"The first time we saw them it could have just been their scouts. Meaning that there could be a lot more of them out there now." Arjan said, hearing Junjie's thoughts though their bond. The fact that they were the ones acting as scouts as the moment caused him to consider the idea that the Mara might very well have scouts as well. Did that mean that they had even more dangerous members of their group waiting back where they came from? It was something that both Arjan and Junjie were thinking at the moment as they set to gathering their magical energy so that they could take on this trio of Metal Mara.
"We will have to be careful with these ones, they have much more dangerous looking weapons then the last ones that we ran across. Not to mention that they have better looking armor... well, that or they are made of armor." He murmured quietly to Arjan, "Given that they are made of metal though you should be able to do pretty well against them." Metal was a conductor for electricity after all and that was something that Arjan was able to conjure up easily enough. Their best bet would be to entangle the trio of Metal Mara with some of Junjie's vines, let the Kiandri let loose on them with his electric based magic to stun them, and then Junjie would finish them off. With that plan in mind they started forward, magical energy of three different colors swirling around the two of them now.
It didn't take but a moment before the Metal Mara had noticed their approach, their attention turning fully upon the hybrid and his Khehora companion. The way that they moved was in unison, like perfect soldiers. Two of them were in the front, one in the back, the three of them walking in a triangle formation. Once they had turned they lifted their weapons up before they came charging forward. Junjie was the first to act, pointing his dragon head staff at the Mara, using the spell he was preparing the cause old, scraggly roots to burst out of the sand, entangling two of the Metal Mara with them. Much to his surprise the third one was able to dodge by throwing itself backwards instead of continuing forward. He considered trying to go after the other one... but decided against it.
No, they would take care of that one later, for the moment they had to deal with the pair that they had entangled. He quickly motioned to Arjan, "Do it now, Arjan!" He called, the command causing the Kiandri to let loose a burst of crackling energy that struck the two entangled Metal Mara. It hit them, spreading along their forms, causing electricity to arc violently between the two of them. The energy left a lot of burnt looking spots on their once pretty looking armor, as well as stunning them fairly effectively. Arjan's spells worked well on them, and when they seemed as if they were no longer able to struggle against their bonds. It made it that much easier for Junjie to send the next spell forward, blasting the two stunned and entangled Mara with a mix of green and gold energy.
The spell cracked their armor, caused parts of them to crumble away, and as the energy blew passed the two of them seemed to hover in the air for but a moment before they collapsed. The moment their bodies hit the ground their blue souls escaped from their beaten, metal forms, fleeing from the battle scene leaving Junjie and Arjan to face off with the lone survivor. Junjie lifted up his staff, pointing it at the Metal Mara that was still facing off with them head to head despite watching the defeat of the other two. It seemed that they weren't lacking in courage, even outnumbered and after seeing two of its allies fall. Despite that everything it wasn't about to just give up. In fact it didn't even seem to flinch, making him wonder just how intelligent and sympathetic the things were. Not that it exactly mattered, they would just have to deal with this one as they had the other ones, they couldn't allow them to escape since that would out their group at risk. Then again given that the souls escaped from their armor they still had much to worry about. What if they were able to get new bodies after all?
"We will just have to stay on alert until we figure out how to finish them off permanently." Arjan told Junjie, stepping closer to him, gathering more energy when the third of the Mara came charging their way, weapon lifted.

The weapon of the Metal Mara cut down through the air, toward Junjie... though before it could land Arjan lunged, grabbing hold of the shaft of the weapon, snarling at the Mara. A burst of electric energy came from Arjan, through the weapon, and into the Mara, causing it to give a violent shudder to go through its metal body. As it shook Arjan ripped the weapon away from it, throwing it into the sand, then growled again. The fact that it had gotten so close to them, that it had dared to attack Junjie, annoyed and enraged the Khehora. As if he'd let something as weak and pathetic as this creature harm his bonded.
Taking in the very bad mood that had overcome Arjan, Junjie gave a little wince, "Easy there, Arjan. No reason to get that upset." He said, making a motion with his dragon headed staff, bringing forth more scraggly roots to tangle up the twitching Mara. Best that they finish this one off fast, before Arjan got any angrier. He knew that the Kiandri was overprotective of their little family, even if he wouldn't admit it, and therefore they needed to get rid of this threat sooner then later, "Alright, let's see about..." His words trailed off when Arjan whirled around, his broad tail knocking the head of the Metal Mara off of its shoulders.
The armored body twitched for a moment, a blue soul abandoning it, before it fell to the ground in a heap of metal and old, dry roots. Junjie blinked a couple times, a look of surprise on his face, as Arjan walked over to grab up the trio of Mara heads. They needed them to claim the rewards after all, "Shall we get going?" Arjan asked and Junjie could only nod his head, falling into step alongside of the Kiandri whose mood seemed to start to slowly improve now that the creatures were no longer a threat.
"I think a break is in order." Junjie told the Kiandri, feeling that it would be good for them to take a break from their patrol just to make sure that Arjan was alright.
