The little mare gave a flick to her cerynei tail. Her wings were the only thing that her mother said that came from her father. A marking or two there was a sign that she was his. But they had never met before. Ambryn didn't even know who her dad was, Callie just talked about how he looked and his personality. Ambryn probably would walk up upon her father and wouldn't even know its him. She wasn't very good at directions and trying to remember descriptions to face.

X

Destry Rose was alone—not unusual for him these days. Seems his youth had been filled with inquisitive visits with friends and companions along his journey of the world, but like all journeys, they’d come to an end and he was alone once again. He didn’t mind it. Sure, it was lonely from time to time, but the peace and solitude were good for meditation, for inner revelation. His life was just beginning…and he was realizing it every single day. That maybe who he was born as, didn’t matter so much in the great big scheme of things.

X

Ambryn didn't travel much outside her mothers sight. But today in her heart she just had to travel out for a little while. It was something different and she couldn't be a baby forever. Sighing a bit she tossed her curly mane. It was quite cool day,it was nice since it had been so hot and sweaty. Ambryn noticed something wandering in the corner of her eye. What was it?

X

The mare called Callie had never quite escaped his mind, escaped his thoughts. They’d left on…uncertain terms. Trying to make a relationship work when neither of them were in the right frame of mind. There’d been harsh words, words he’d regretted and worried over… He still cared for her, sometimes wondered where she was, if someone was treating her okay. Hoping she found that happily ever after that she deserved. His own curls had grown long, mane braided in a feminine style as bangs curled over crimson eyes. He had always been small and almost delicate—the flutter blood in him—but he wasn’t ashamed… Actually, he liked being mistaken for a mare. Head tipping, he saw something –someone—with wings of a faerie and something inside of him clenched, tight. Familiar…but he’d never seen her before in his life. Feeling a tad uncertain, he sucked in a breath and walked over to the young mare, her streaked hair in curls, looking a little lost. “You alright there?”he asked, his voice soft like silk.

X

Ambryn blinked as the male started walking closer.Big rose. She looked at it and then back to the males eyes. That was one of the things her mother said that he had. Two,Red tipped flutter wings. She was remembering it.Ambryn wondered if this was the male Callie said was her father. "Of course. Why wouldn't i be?" She laughed softly. Fluttered her wings and flicked her tail once again. "Are you?" She asked as well. "I am just out exploring. I always stay close to my Mom of course." Ambryn barely left her side, just because she was a mommy's baby.

X

Destry shook his head, bangs fluttering, and he smiled warmly at the younger mare. She…reminded him of Callie. Was that why he was drawn to her? “No reason. I was just curious,” he said, lifting a hoof and placing it back down gently. He tried not to stare—cerynei tail, and those curls… But her wings… His heart picked up speed for no apparent reason. It wasn’t possible. They’d not been together… He was going crazy. Shaking his head, he bowed a little, smile bright. “It’s always nice to have a bond to your mum. My own wasn’t around much. I was raised by my father and my oddball of an uncle. It was rather…interesting.” He laughed, thinking of the way Winter looked at him still, like a colt he’d taken under his wing. His eyes glittered. “What’s your name, love? They call me Destry Rose…but I suppose Des would work too.”

X

"Are you sure?"She questioned.Ambryn shrugged and awaited.Listening in to the male. She watched his eyes,he was looking over her like he knew who she was."I'm sorry. My mother is the only one who rased me.Had some company by some friends here and there to help. But mainly her." Ambryn nodded. They had the same second part to their names.."Ambryn Rose..."She said and blinked a couple times."Nice to meet you Des.." She started feeling a bit awkward. Was this him?

X

He bobbed his head, shaken out of his thoughts.”Sorry for your lack of a dad. Guess we’re in the same boat. At least you had your mum, and I had my dad. Gotta love parents…even if they’re suffocating sometimes.” He laughed softly, though he seemed sad for a moment. But when the young mare spoke her name—last surname—Destry paused, eyes widening. Wait… “Um… Not to be nosy, but what’s your mom’s name?” His voice was quiet now, hesitation in his features. She looked too much like Callie… It couldn’t be…

Was she HIS? The flutter wings, the markings? His heart began to pound, nerves and excitement racing through his veins. “Ambryn…”

X

"Of course.Everyone always has their own moments. My mother taught me always to respect that."Ambryn nodded again. Her ears perked up and then she kind of got somewhat bashful."My mothers name? That's easy. Its Callie." She smiled. Ambryn noticed the male getting extremely nervous. Maybe she should be too,but it wasn't in her to be nervous. Maybe there was some deep down that just wasn't quite there yet.

"What?" She tilted her head and looked at him."What about me?"She smiled and kept watching him.

X

Destry smiled. “Your mum must be a winner,” he said brightly, kinda wishing his own mum had been more involved in he and Rosie’s lives. But hey, live and let live, right? He loved Ambien, because she was his mum, even if she acted more like an estranged big sister. But as Ambryn spoke…his heart nearly stopped. “Callie…” He dropped his head, eyes closing for a moment, memories touching him. Of Callie’s smile, her laughter, the thoughts that they’d be together forever—and then their sudden end. “I…I don’t know.” His voice was soft, and he took a step back, all of a sudden anxious. Ambryn… Callie would’ve named her after him. Ambryn Rose. “But…call me crazy, but I think that maybe…you’re my daughter…”

X

She watched as the males head dropped. She almost wanted to look down to see if he was okay.Ambryn pinned her ears when he said her mothers name. So many thoughts ran through her head as the male started stepping back from her. What did she say?

Ambryn's body started feeling a bit weird when the male said something about her being his daughter."Wha..."Shewasn't sure how to feel about it. He had all the looks that her mother said he had."Did...you guys go find roses together..?" She asked. Ambryn started semi tearing up. "Did...you guys fight..?" She wanted to make sure this was the right male. Her father.

He looked almost...frightened, like the possibility of having a daughter had never occured to him before. They'd been together awhile, he and Callie, but he never knew... Had he left and she'd been pregnant with his child? Guilt crashed down on him. "I'm sorry..." he murmured, to himself and to Ambryn. She was his daughter...he knew it. It felt right, even if it felt so wrong.

"Yeah," he nodded. "We...went to the desert, to find the biggest desert roses." His lips curved into a sad smile. "She'd carried me there--I shrunk down, to fit on her back, because...well...I'm not the best at flight. And then...we got into an argument. We said things--I shouldn't have said those things. And I left. I just... I never knew. I wouldn't have left had I known..." His voice was soft.

"Things have changed. I've changed." He dropped his gaze. "I...wouldn't even know what to say if I saw her again."

X

Ambryn softened up a little bit as her father started breaking down. "It happens.. I am not angry at you." She said softly. Ambryn wasn't mad at him at all,it was something that just happened.Things don't often work out right the first time around. "If it makes you feel any better. She is all you talk about."Ambryn smiled and tried to cheer him up. "She said when she was depressed in the desert. She was just moody with me."She sighed and watched him. "You'll know it when you see her,Dad." She nosed his cheek and smiled. They were both young, things happened.Things get better and wiser as you get older. "It doesn't matter what happened before, her heart may still be hurting, but i don't see why she wouldn't be happy to see you."

X

Destry stood there, still as a statue, as Ambryn spoke such words of compassion and caring...like his absense in her life meant nothing, like she would welcome him back with open arms despite everything and...he was shocked. Stunned. Surprised. Half of him wanted to run away, to flee the emotions bubbling up at the reality--he was a father, he had a daughter--and yet... He let out a soft, nervous laugh. "Well...damn," he said when she called him Dad. He grinned brightly, though it dimmed for a moment. "She still talks of me? Even after this long?" he asked, almost afraid to get his hopes up. Callie, though older than him, had been his first crush, his first love. When he'd given that up, he thought he'd given it up for good... "Would...you take me back to her? I'm...nervous, I am, but I'd like to see her."

X

"You shouldn't be surprised.I am my mothers daughter."She smiled and flicked her tail. He was so nervous and frightened at all this. Ambryn was just taught never to judge and not to worry about the past.Their fighting and the silly things that happened weren't anything to worry about. "Of course." Ambryn nodded and turned to look off. "I can.I am sure she will be too,but this might be a good thing!" Ambryn was trying to get his hopes up,make him feel so much more positive about this meeting.

X

He was practically abuzz--with nerves and with excitement--even as his daughter tried to rile him up a bit. His grin was like a rainbow, radiant and bright as he took off after the beautiful girl that was his flesh and blood, his steps quick and fluid. He'd gained grace in his time alone, an almost gentle approach to life with less nerves than he'd always had. Except for now, when he was keyed up. What would she say when she saw him? Would she smile? Laugh? Yell? His ears flicked back, but he kept pace with Ambryn, focusing on his breathing in and out, positive thoughts coming to mind. "I can't wait to see her again," he told his daughter.

He just hoped he could say the same for Callie.
