It was a bar like any other just a bit away from most places. There were many drinking unnamed sorts and faces. The chatter was thick and the air heavy with the sound of merriment. A slight apprehension was in the air and what it was about was left to be said and no one was speaking on it. It seemed like a night of any other night in the bar but that didn't last forever.
"Push the chairs and tables back boys!" The bartender announced and everyone suddenly and eagerly complied. A few patrons seemed to be confused everyone else knew exactly what was going on. "Place your bets we have the champ and the new challenger!" There was a sudden change in the pace in the bar as money changed hands. A rather large man came out and event cheered and then a smaller boy came out blondish hair tied in a berserk braid. He had scars on his body and blueish green eyes. He seemed calm and yet seemed to have a smirk on his face. Some moments passed and then the signal was off and the two men had broken out into hand to hand combat. Seemed to be a normal fight and the younger boy was winning even though they were both a bit bloody. The bartender didn't seem to happy about it and then thats when things started to go wrong. "And a surprise twist for our Challenger." And with that the fight was unfair they had ganged up on the boy and here there house always won.

Ed picked his ale up, as his table meandered away from him? What was going on? Oh excellent a brawl, all looked to be well in order, until a clump of low lives attacked the poor who had been gaining his respect steadily as the match wore on.
He through off his black coat, and revealed his identity, the Dark Duke, Archduke to King Azreth himself. He padded up to one of the men surprisingly light on his feet. He tapped the thugs shoulder, who was on the outer rim. "Excuse me but you seem to have left something at your table." As the man glanced over, Edward punched him right in the face, the man wheeled and fell and Ed began dismantling the ugly scrum. He pulled the boy out by the scruff and snarled at the other around him. His eyes changed colors for a moment and the men glared glum but somewhat intimidated. They didn't need to know he needed the potion from Zel to change. If they recognized him, they may or not remember what occasionally guarded the King's treasury.

It didnt take long for them to finally realize for it and people started bolting specially since this was a looked down upon thing. The bar keep looked horrified at this point. All that was left was him and the innocents that didn't have much to do with that had just happened.
Haki groaned as he it the floor a mess of blood and bruises. He waited for the knock out blow he refused to lay down. And then it didn't come and suddenly he was hanging like a kitten held by the scruff of the harness on his back. Haki looked to the man holding his harness it took a moment for him to realize who the man was. "s**t...." He crossed his arms he was going to jail or something then his father would find out bail him out and scold him like a child. He moved his hand to wipe some blood from his face. When he did a necklace with a crest fell from under his harness. It was very similar to the king's crest but modified, the Duke might have seen it on Vincent Dragoon.

Ed quirked a brow, "Ahh little scrapper, now I know where you are from. The Bar Keep owe you anything? The others forfeited when they starting playing for keeps." Ed plopped the lad down on his feet and made sure he was steady before staring archly at the Bar Keep. A look he had perfected at the castle. It was something learned for him, not born. But it still worked, he was nobility born to it or no, it just meant he could sleep in a barn or castle or under the stars.

Haki raised a brow and gave Ed a weird look before noticing the necklace and quickly tucked it away. On the outside he hated his father on the in he respected him. "You ain't know s**t." Haki spat a bit.
Haki only shook a little before he had his feet. He looked from Ed to the bar keep and then grinned knowing the man had to pay him. "I recon he does." He laughed and quickly the bar tender handed him them a small bag of money. Haki made a satisfied sound before wiping his nose of some blood. He then wave a hand at Duke. "Thanks for everything big guy." With that he started to leave least one couldn't blame him for trying to.

"And where do you think you are going?" He caught up with him, and walked out with the little imp. Eric waited just outside, vampire teeth catching the light of the moon as he grinned at the boy. "You didn't think I came here without a mount did you?" He was reasonably sure his bonded had meant to surprise the boy...vampires gah.
"Lad this is Eric, Eric this is the lad...er..what was your name?"
Ed shrugged as Eric raised a brow at him. Not his fault!

"Home to an inn I know to pay someone sexy to wash the blood from me and feed me a meal perhaps more if you know what I mean." He laughed but it was short liked as he turned and saw teeth. Haki stopped in his tracks and looked half ready to take on the vampire azrien with his bare hands. Which he would have he was that brazen when it came to the risk of his life he was not one to run. "Mount?" He looked to Ed and the make a tsk sound giving Eric a look that was much less respectful then the one he had before. "Oh ...right...weird a** bonding crap." Haki said taking a few steps away from Eric before setting his eyes on Ed.
"Its Haki....And you are the Duke Edwards." Haki took this time to tie the money bag to his belt. He gave another wary eye to Eric and stepped away from the thing again. Despite his father once having a true bonded he had not been around to know that one it had passed in the great time that many were lost. The only azrien Haki had known was the one that worked for the six and betrayed his father. He didn't trust any azrien because of that hence why he was walking.

"Eric dear stop trying to intimidate him. He knows your uncomfortable, hes being a bit mean. Keep it up and no supper for you."
"As if you control that."
"Well the stuff you get from the stable I do."
"So which Inn were you thinking? The Gilded Heron has good beds, but perhaps not the entertainment your thinking of."

Haki's eyes darted from Eric to Ed at the exchange a look of distrust clear every time it fell on Eric and it had little to do with it being a vampire. He ran a hand over his head slicking back the stray hairs that had fallen from his braid.
"Why is it of concern to you? You broke up the unfair fight, got me paid, and don't seem to be of the intention to punish anyone in any way. Why would you care where some fighting dog you've never met is going? What do you think you have to gain from talking to me?" He narrowed his eyes in a clear distrust way which seemed to be the norm for this kid. Haki then moved around the azrien and went to the forest line and seemed to dig out a bag. The bag itself was small but there seemed to be two large covered weapons attached to it. He slung it over his back before sighing and looking to Ed. He could do without extra entertainment tonight in exchange for a soft bed to lay his bruised body on. "Alright...lead me to this Gilded Heron since you have time to spare it seems. Ive never heard of it before I normally stick to seedy places of entertainment." He smirked.

"Quite frankly Haki, I find you interesting, and contrary to your belief its not entirely because of your family. I like the occasional brawl myself and am always open to new sparring partners that don't cave easily."
"As for the Gilded Heron, you should see their baths, built right into the floor, the best for achy, bruised muscles, believe you me."
"And I find that once in a while, I like to talk to others, to get a fresh perspective on life. Eric if you will, I think I will walk, you may wander if you like."
The palomino vmapire poofed into the night, probably off to find Sabrina or someone else more interesting then a fighting boy and his bonded.

Haki made a ch sound and a face at the mention of his family. "I have one that's news to me." He grinned sarcastically. "You wanna spar old man someone better pay for it. I don't lift a pinky less Im being paid too I just feel like it." Haki said wiggling his pinky finger.
"Perspective ....I cant offer much. I'll be honest with ya there aint much up there." Haki said pointing to his head before giving it a tap with his closed fist." One to many direct hits." He laughed. Honestly most of this was a tough guy act and perhaps a hint of missing self esteem.
Haki watched Eric leave with a please look on his face before looking back to Ed. "A walking we go then.......ch I need to hide that damned necklace better..." It was sorta just a random thought.

Ed couldn't help himself and wiggled his little finger back at Haki, "I make a descent rage young sprout." He grinned, "Besides you look like you would be a lot of fun to hang around."
"I don't think I have been accused of not having perspective, just a lack of sense. Dragons, wyrverns, and sea serpents, I have a mad fondness for, anything with big fangs really," he waved a hand at Eric's departing form.
"Now here is the Inn, just you wait, I think this place will be to your taste once we get to the private area, the old dames who hang out front for supper could put the run on any man." Ed mock shuddered and was only half joking. "We just elude them as fast as possible hey?"

"Hmmm....Alright then you've got my interest old man." He laughed, yep didn't matter what Ed's age was he would be called old man till he made Haki do otherwise. "That I can not argue with." Haki laughed.
"Cant say I blame ya there not that I would walk strait up to one but I like seein them." Haki said with a small smile.
Haki made a face at what Ed told him and nodded. "Don't have to tell me twice, you lead the way last thing I need is an old bitty botherin me..." Haki said with a laugh.

"Got that right. Deep breath now, walk fast, don't look any old bittys in the eye." Ed made a face and cracked open the door, taking a peek. Then rushing through like there were hellhounds on his tail and sure enough, many aged woman's eyes followed him to his post by the Inn Keeper, lickity split he ordered food and two baths to be drawn in one of the private rooms on the ground floor, one with a window to the outside so he could crack it. He liked the cool air, it was refreshing.
He waved at Haki to come so they could sneak through the door timely like.

"You make this sounds terrifying like its a laugh or death thing." Haki laughed and watched Ed and when he was waved for he bolted to join up with Ed keeping his eyes in a zoned pattern he didn't bother to look about.
"So tell me...why is a duke slumming it in the first place?" Haki mostly had the opinion people like that worked all the time or stayed to where the rich people stayed.
