General School Rules

If you have any questions please contact a member of the schools administrative body, or your student advisor. Failure to comply with the Institutes rules will result in the assignment of demerits, detention, school suspension, expulsion and/or other punitive action(s) based on the circumstances of the particular infraction as determined by the student's advisor. Extreme violations will be administered by the institute's Headmaster Scott Summers or the Deputy Headmistress Emma Frost.

ATTENDANCE: Attendance will be taken the same as during the regular school year. Any student who misses more than 8 hours per semester course of summer school will not receive credit for the course, or 3 hours for Driver Education classroom. If a student is absent please contact the administration office.

EXAM DAYS: All students must be in attendance on the last day of each semester to take the final exam. Students are permitted to take exams early, or make up exams if extenuating circumstances exist. Students should be aware that the 'CUTTING' of a class on exam day may result in a failing grade for the semester being assigned to the student found to be cutting that day.

TARDINESS TO CLASS : All students are to be in their classrooms when the period begins. Any student who is tardy will be marked absent for the hour the tardy occurs.

STUDY: Summer school courses cover a great deal of material in a short time; consequently, students must study both during the school day and outside of school time. Books are to be taken home each day. No corridor lockers are to be used.

GRADES: Students who are taking courses for credit will receive the same type of grades as given during the regular school year.

LEAVING SCHOOL GROUNDS: Students are not to leave the school grounds unless they have signed themselves out from the administration office, spoken with their adviser, or team leader. Students must notify administration as to when they will be returning, and provide valid contact information for the duration they are off school grounds. All students must carry at the very least their comm unit, or they may be denied permission to leave school grounds.

DRIVING: Any student who drives must observe all driving regulations and all safety regulations. Permission to drive one of the school vehicles may be revoked at any time in the interest of safety and attendance.

STUDENT PARKING: Students must be aged 16 or above and are permitted to maintain one personal vehicle on campus providing they have a legal driver's licence, insurance and an acceptable driving record. Vehicles are to be stored in the student parking lot or one of the Institute garages.

Permission to use personal vehicles must still be obtained by a faculty member, but mileage records are not mandatory. A copy of a student's Key to their personal vehicle will be held in a locksafe by the administrative office, accessible only by institutes administration and faculty.

INSTITUTE VEHICLES: Three school-use SUVs are available to the student body. Permission to use these vehicles must be obtained 24 hours prior to using any Institute vehicle from the administrative office. Students are responsible for maintaining mileage records, returning vehicles with full gas tanks, returning the vehicle safely to main institute parking facility, signing the vehicle back in to the administrative office and returning the vehicle keys to the administrative office. Curfews are still in effect when off campus.

PARKING BICYCLES: All bicycles must be left in the bike racks in front of the building. All bikes should be locked as the school is not responsible for any acts of theft or vandalism. No skateboards are to be on school grounds, except for designated areas. Roller blades may not be worn in the school building.

GUIDANCE: During a students time at the Xavier Institute for the Gifted, guidance will be available for any student who needs assistance with classes, emotional or 'other' issues.

SMOKING: Any student who smokes, possesses, or uses tobacco in the building or any place on the school grounds will be suspended for two hours and may be issued a citation.

STUDENT VISITOR POLICY: No outside visitors (outside friends, family and so on) will be admitted to the school grounds without explicit permission of the faculty.

STUDENT ACCESS: As the Xavier Institute is a communal environment, students are expected to respect the rights and privacy of others. Additionally, access to some portions of the Institute are limited and or restricted based on the students grade level or participation within the Institute.

TRAINING FACILITIES: A member of the Institute's administration or faculty MUST be present when using any Institute training facility (referred to by the Student Body at 'the Danger Room'). A team leader, or assistant team leader is also acceptable.

INFIRMARY ACCESS: Administration is to be notified up on immediate admission to the Institute's infirmary. Visitors are permitted access to visit anyone 24/7 who is not in critical condition. Visitation to anyone who is considered to be in critical condition must be approved though the Jean Grey or Hank McCoy-- Or the Institute's doctor in residence.

MAINFRAME ACCESS - Cerebra... While students are permit to query the Cerebra from remote Institute terminals, students are expressly forbidden from entering the Institute's Mainframe/data center (Cerebra) unless accompanied by a member of administration or faculty. A team leader is also acceptable.

HANGERS: Students are forbidden from accessing the hangers which house the Institutes SR-71 Lockheed Blackbird, or two VSTAL Jests without permission expressed permission from the Administrative office, or the presence of a team leader.

OTHER: Use of the Institutes's Training Facilities, Weapons Locker or Containment Cells are forbidden without permission from faculty.

CITIZENSHIP AND STUDENT DRESS: While students are considered to be in attendance at the school voluntarily, they are still expected to maintain an acceptable attitude toward learning and in their dress. Students who do not maintain good school citizenship may be dismissed from school without refund and without credit. Students in summer school will be expected to conduct themselves and to dress in the same manner as acceptable during the regular school year.

....Technical Things That Have Been Added...

Communicators: All students have hand held or wrist communicators to use to quickly communicate with other students and teachers. They also can be used to track locations. These are used as opposed to cell phones because the technology is better.

Money: Students can have jobs on or off campus; however, due to the nature of the Institute, students also have a student account. Monthly students are given $200 in flex money for their personal use. This flex money can be reduced if faculty feel it is a neccessary punishment for breaking Institute rules.

Student Jobs

Allowances aren't always enough at the Institute. Sometimes students want to make more money, have more responsibilities, or just need something else to do.

Below is a listing of various jobs that are open for students to apply for at the Institute:

- Library clerks
- Groundskeepers
- Cooks
- Cafeteria servers
- Swimming pool lifeguards
- Weight room supervisors
- Student social coordinators
- Computer lab assistant
- Science lab assistant
- Housekeeping

There is no formal route to get a job at the Institute. You just have to simply RP your character applying for and getting the job. Feel free to add it to your bio if you do take one.

The School System

Both the K-12 and College Students are all under one banner called "Academy X".

__________________________________________

The Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters isn't your traditional elementary or high school. It runs grades K-12. The system acts more like a college however... There are three semesters of courses: Fall, Spring and Summer. Students are given a course schedule based on what their counselor feels is best for them when it comes to their mutant skills development.

General studies courses such as English, Languages, History, and so forth are agreed upon by the student and counselor. Students have a set number of courses in each of the general areas they have to complete; however, they have a number of courses to choose from and they can take them at any time during their stay at the Institute.

Students move onto the next grade level whenever they complete the number of required credits needed for that level. So if your student takes four semesters to gain all credits needed to move onto their Sophomore year, they will move to the next level in four semesters. It may take some students only two or three semesters.

Students do have to be academically responsible. Students who habitually fail their courses will not be allowed to participate in team training sessions, have the school allowances revoked, and/or not be allowed to add new ability training sessions to their schedule.

To remain an accredited school (so that their diploma is recognized upon graduation), students must take a state examination before they graduate on their general studies courses.

__________________________________________

The Xavier Institute is meant for students that are ready for college level courses.

The Xavier Institute provides the best secondary education for the exceptional young mind. Fully accredited by the State of New York, the Institute provides an intensive, engaging array of classes in a wide variety of disciplines, as well as guided independent study programs to help young adults make the
best of their first years of college. The rock-solid educational foundation and extensive career guidance work provided by the two- or four-year program
at The Xavier Institute will be invaluable to any student. Especially if they're planning a more lengthy educational career in medicine, law, or advanced
applied sciences.

Though many students attend The Xavier Institute after graduating from the School for Gifted Youngsters, the Institute accepts enrollment from any high school graduate or student able to demonstrate equivalent learning
experience.

You do not have to enroll your character in college level courses--But the option is available to you. Just remember to label your posts appropriately. There will almost always still be power training courses as well that your characters may join in on.

Keep in mind that the professors for the Standard Courses are not of the Academy. They are state provided so that the school can be accredited for college level courses. The professors for Power Training and Mutant related courses are the X-Men.

Clearance Levels

General Info: Students have access to the majority of the school...Only certain areas are off limits without permission.

-------------Danger Room
XXXXXXXXXXXIf a student wishes to use the Danger Room, there must be a professor or an NPC that is watching them from the Observation Deck. Team Leaders, or their Assistants are often granted with access to run a simulation for their team... And are not required to have supervision. Anyone else MUST have a Professor/Senior X-Men Member/Team Leader initiate the session for them, and find someone to observe them.

-->The reason for this is because the Danger Room, as the title implies, can be dangerous. It once took on an intelligence of its own and nearly convinced a student to kill him/herself while inside.

-------------Student/Teacher Lab Area's
XXXXXXXXXXXIStudents cannot access Forge's or Dr McCoy's labs without their permission. There are things there that should by toyed with by curious wide eyed wonders... They can however utilize the Student area so long as there is an NPC lab tech in the room.

-------------Armory/Weapony Area
XXXXXXXXXXXIStudents should never be in this room unless they have expressed orders from one of the senior X-Men or a Team Leader. They won't be able to get in without access codes. (Those who deal with things like archery or practice at the gun range would just need approval from their team leader, or one of the X-Men...)

More to come if needed....
