The stairway was rocking, and every so often Mort caught a glimpse of a different world: one where "horsemen" (horsemen? he did not see any mount of the sort around) reigned, one where seven pillars sat, and another still where he could hear the roar of his guardian over the sounds of battle. If eh didn't know any better, he would have considered his connection bugged. What sort of server was this supposed to be anyway?
. . . Wait, had they hit the beta testing instead? What fun!
The king of creation leaned against the wall as the tower gave another shudder, for all the world appearing at ease in spite of the smoldering, gray fog blurring his form and the new black-gray skintone he had found himself in. Alternate costumes weren't so bad, really, though he wished he could remember how exactly he had come across it. Adjusting his crown, Mort then pulled out his pocketwatch and clicked his tongue as he read the time, waiting for a meeting no-one had arranged to start.

The world was always changing, and sometimes it changed far too quickly for his liking. He could only consider himself lucky for being so adaptable to the situation. The obnoxiously-long cape, however, was still very much a hindrance. Narrowed eyes shrewdly eyed the staircase and the rest of the tower’s interior. To his dismay, he failed to find an exit of sorts, which worried him a bit considering he wanted to return to his ship as soon as possible.
He wasn’t sure if he wanted to be happy or displeased when he encountered a fellow king staring at a pocket watch. “Strange. I never took you as the type to be punctual, or maybe you’re actually late?” Wilson snickered as he awkwardly tugged at his cape. As expected, this showy kind of kingly stuff didn’t suit him in the least.

All that Mengyao said upon arrival was, in a disdainful sort of tone,
"Oh, you're all still alive? How disappointing."

"Heyyyyyy, greenie, longtime no see," Harrison put one arm around Mort, pulling him close and punching him in the shoulder. He wasn't sure if the old rules applied, like not attacking anybody they hadn't attacked first, but for now he enjoyed the courtesy.
"B0nez would give you a kiss but he's a set of ******** swords at the moment."
I WOULD NOT, B0nez howled in Harrison's head. AUGH. No homo ok we just MMO'd together I dont know how many times I have to say this. ...Dumbass...
"Mo-schmo."
Ugh....they can't hear me either...god there's not even a computer in here if I wanted this immersive I'd...I don't know, have built it.
Harrison grinned at the other two. "Captain," he greeted congenially, "And Kung Pao, how's life treating you, you been giving tours or working for the takeout industry?"

"A wizard is never late nor early," Mort informed Wilson factually. "He arrives precisely when he means to!" Then he paused and gave a less than kingly laugh, patting the scabbard at his hip. "Though I am not actually a wizard, but a paladin today!"
The pocketwatch closed with a click as he grinned at the rest, clasping Harrison's shoulders in return. "Yes, yes, very much alive, sunflower," he said to Mengyao distractedly, for the Blue king's word caught his interest. "Swords, you say? You didn't tell me you got a new expansion pack! Can you turn any PC into a weapon? Are they considered Sentient? What bonuses does it give? Can he hear me? Hello, dear B0nez, you haven't signed on in so long! I thought your account had been deactivated!" It was perhaps the most friendly interrogation ever made.
This wasn't a moment to start fighting, he felt, not until they were entirely sure what was going on first and could determine things in a tournament style match up. And what an odd thing it was anyway that the kings were not the first on the scene to begin with!

Mengyao bristled, internally offended by the term kung pao (whatever that even meant); but since he wasn't about to give the Blue King the satisfaction of knowing he'd rankled him, he cleared his mind and filled it with a calmness instead, Mengyao tucking his hands into the opposite sleeves.
"Classy, as always, I see," he said dryly. "You look the same, except without your trademark lackey."
His gaze slid to Mort, his overly enthusiastic response to Harrison's arrival rather exasperating. He would have rolled his eyes, were it not for the fact that he found such a gesture to be beneath him, and instead Mengyao merely shook his head, brushing a few stray strands of dark hair out of his eyes, both of which were a blazing, bright gold.
"You were always a strange one, weren't you? What sort of nonsense have you been getting up to?"
