So a few days ago I was in my parents' house, watchin' stuff on my laptop, and there was a light thunderstorm. I could hear thunder in the distance, but it was still a ways off. Then, suddenly, there was a HUGE explosion sort of sound directly overhead, scarin' me and the cats, and a flash of light. Immediately after, I lost the internet.

Turns out lightnin' had struck a tree in my parents' yard, and also possibly the house, and it caused a power surge that destroyed our router, modem, my mom's mac, and my brother's xbox 360 and projector. Luckily, my laptop was unharmed. After a few torturous days, we have the internet back.

Yeah, and surge protectors aren't strong enough to protect against lightnin' hittin' your house, just regular power surges.
