User ImageStarla dropped a bundle of red ribbon at the base of the fountain. Though she had been asked to just get enough to cut, she wanted to be absolutely sure they had enough just in case the first cut didn't work. You never knew with these pesky ribbons and today wasn't a day to mess around! The ribbon cutting ceremony for the new fountain was a big deal to the town so everything had to be perfect!

Starla was jittery as she turned away from the fountain and weaved her way in and out of the crowd that was slowly filling the town's square. She was excited beyond expression, what with the whole town proper and south village coming together on such a beautiful day for the ceremony. This party had been planned right along with the planning of the fountain and as she scanned the crowd she could see how popular it was already. Some of the shops that faced the center had wares out by their doors, enticing shoppers with tables filled with food and drinks. She herself even paused a moment to try a delicious slice of cake, dropping a few bells in the open hand that waited on her to scarf the piece down.

She cleaned the crumbs from her face as she stepped away from the food tables and glanced around once more. As always, she had been sent to run errands for this particular event and took a moment to reflect on her mental list. She had gotten the ribbon for the fountain, streamer for that particular float, told that Villager to meet this Villager over here, she continued down her list feeling prouder by the second at how much she had accomplished. Even as she got to the bottom of the list and marked the last item off she couldn't help feel that familiar itch start behind her right ear. That same itch always told her she was forgetting something so as she pawed at it frantically, she racked her brain. What was she missing?

To no one's surprise Starla became distracted when a group of South Village Villagers appeared in the square. She was overjoyed they had made the short journey up this way. Though most in the group hardly made it to town they too understood the importance of this day. Speaking of which, where were her friends? Again, Starla's mind changed tracks as she scanned the crowd. The ceremony for the fountain would be starting soon and she wanted to have a great standing spot. It was always a big deal when towns did things like this and now it was their turn to say 'Hey look at us'! Starla puffed her chest out proudly at that thought. This place was certainly growing up!

'Come on, Starla, focus! Where are you friends!?' she chided herself, once again looking through the crowd.

Barton Town was bustling, everyone was filled with energy as the whole town gathered in the square to celebrate the new fountain. Everyone wanted to be there for the ribbon cutting ceremony, even some of the folks from the South Village came!

But the best part of the whole affair was not the fountain itself, no no there's something so much better, what Chip really came to the party for:

"The foooooooooood."

Chip was all but drooooling over the many snack tables, his eyes wide with delight. He wanted aaaaaaaaaaaaaall of it.
His pockets on the other hand, said no.

But a cat could dream right?
He knew he could only afford one cake, but even still:
Chip stood there staring greedily, stomach growling, at the display of brightly colored sweets - wishing he could buy them all.

Frost grumbled as he left his house. It was so hot today...why did they have to have ceremonies on hot days? Heaving a sigh, he figured he was already out in the heat, he might as well see what all the fuss was about. Something about a ribbon cutting ceremony...or something. Whatever. He could smell food already, that was a plus at least. He grabbed something to nibble on while he waited for the ceremony to begin. It looked like it might be for a new fountain. Well, that was pretty spiffy at least. Maybe it would help keep villagers cool on hot days. Like today. He was starting to wonder if keeping his scarf on had been a good idea. Ah, well, he was pretty attached to the thing, anyway. Jeez, there were a lot of villagers in the square today. Even the South Village villagers had showed up. Was it really just for a new fountain? Oh, well. He'd see soon, he supposed...

Carys happily skipped out of her door and toward the square for the ceremony. There was going to be a new fountain!! How romantic~ Fountains were so beautiful! So many romantic things happened around fountains. Like kissing!! And picnics, and secret meetings under cover of moonlight! The pink puppy sighed happily at what could happen in their town now that they'd have a fountain. There were sooo many villagers there, too! What if someone met their true love here? Oh, that would be so wonderful! She bought herself a heart shaped cake to eat as she waited for the ceremony.

Flake practically ran for Barton Town, he was excited. There was an event going on, for what, he couldn't remember but that didn't matter. He loved large gatherings, there was so many things to do and so many animals to meet! You can't go wrong with that. The cat came to a sudden halt as he hit the town square and his eyes were as wide a saucers, this was to much! What should he do first?

Flake looked to his left and his eyes caught yummy looking cakes. In the corner of his eye he caught the Roost's coffee stand and again, his eye caught a balloon stand and another that sold trinkets for the remembrance of this event. The corner of his eye caught something white and when he turned to look at it, it moved. Soon he was spinning in a circle, attempting to catch the white blur in his sights. He made a dive for it and ended up yanking his tail, hard, in his fall. "OWIES!"

Krysta skipped into town, her tail wagging, wearing her favorite blue snowflake sweater as always. Her tiny toes spread out delicately on the pathway as she meandered into the center of action, a ribbon cutting ceremony for a new fountain. "Oh, Sparkly!" she giggled to herself, putting her paws on her muzzle as her peculiarly tipped ears flopped about the side of her head. She was just about to take a few steps forward when a blue and white cat crossed her path, seemingly spinning in circles. "Oh...ah..." she blinked, confused as the cat suddenly dove for his own tail and hurting himself in the process. "Dearie me... are you ok?!" she blinked, running over and inspecting him for any sort of injuries.

Sir Peppington had been gotten up early, as he is always wanting to do, took care of his beautiful blue roses and came into the town for a bit of early morning window shopping. Stopping off to get some Coffee, the elegant deer had himself a seat, sipping gently at a warm cup of tea, straight black, for a good four hours. And then the ruckus started. Grumbling, he eyed the strange silver cat as she popped into town, hustling and bustling to prepare some sort of strange event. "Ruining my quiet time I dare say...." he sighed, sipping down the last of his fifth cup of coffee. He had managed to ignore most of it so far, that is until more and more started to arive. "Should go see what all the fuss is about I suppoooose...." he drawled in his thick British accent. Tipping his head and paying the waiter for his less than excellent services, Sir Pep strolled on over into town and set eyes on the fountain, wrapped in a beautiful ribbon. Aaah a ceremony! Perhaps that wasn't bad after all. "Jolly good, I dare say, wotwot!" he exclaimed loudly and proudly.

Starla's brown eyes landed on a familiar creamy character. She wasn't surprised to find Chip at the food tables one bit, the cat had a knack for following his nose. She weaved through the crowd walking up to him as he was pouring over the desserts before him. She assumed he was attempting to make the hardest decision of his life and gently tapped him on the shoulder, “Hey, Chip! Don't kill yourself trying to make a decision. Let me help!” She turned to the Villager waiting on Chip and dropped a few bells into their paw, “There ya go! Have yourself a cake or a few cookies on me.” She smiled brightly at the other feline.

She was distracted (when is she not?) when a very pink dog appeared at the dessert table. She was decked out in hearts, and even bought a heart shaped cake from the table they were at. Her ears pricked in interest as she stepped away from Chip and towards Carys, “Hello, there!” she greeted her. “I don't believe we have met! I'm Starla. I was just admiring your adorable pink outfit.” she beamed at the other. “Oh, and this is Chip.” she motioned to the cat behind her, “Excited for the ceremony?”

Starla's ears twitched at the familiar loud mouth of a particular deer. She glanced over Carys' shoulder and caught site of Sir Peppington, just the deer she was thinking of! He sounded excited for the ceremony, which got her wiggling where she stood. Her wiggle was cut off when a snowy cat crashed to the ground causing Starla to gasp, “Excuse me for a second.” she said to Carys and Chip before brushing past them. She made it over to Flake as Krysta was checking him over, “Are you ok!?” she asked Flake, but before he could answer she quickly turned the question over to Krysta “Is he ok!?” She was looking a bit wild eyed as she glanced back and forth between the two, apparently didn't handle accidents very well.

"Oh man Starla, you're the best, minty!" Chip said cheerfully in between bites of cake. "I've gotta pay you back for this - remind me next time I make ice cream and I'll make a batch just for you, you can have any flavor you want!"
He gave a friendly smile when Starla introduced them both to a bright pink dog.
"As she said, I'm Chip, he declared, offering his paw for a friendly handshake. "I'm Barton's resident foodie and the future owner of the best ice cream parlor around. What's your name?

Chip turned to watch as Starla was off as suddenly as she had appeared, excusing herself to scurry off towards another set of villagers. "See ya later, Starla!" he shouted, waving at the grey cat as she hurried off.
