Settling into life as a trainee really wasn't that complicated. Proper respect was an utmost, that Alec followed fairly closely. He minded his own business, and did most tasks with a bit of lively pep in his step. Unless of course it was first thing in the morning. At least he'd had food that morning, and wasn't completely asleep standing up. All personnel worked on different tasks, and shifts depending on what was needing to be done. Sometimes random dorms got assigned to the same task, but usually they worked in groups with their fellow dorm mates. Or so it seemed to be the case.

This particular morning, Alec had taken it upon himself to deal with the horse stalls. Even if that meant he needed a shower later. Anything was better then lying in bed at night and catching the scent of horse crap on the breeze. He loved the beasts themselves, but the latter was not on his list of things to celebrate. The pale red headed teen would rather deal with the unpleasant task then deal with the repercussions of it not being done. The skies were mostly over cast with clouds, with little chance of rain on this given day. A perfect time for clearing everything out before the weather took a nasty turn.

Grabbing a shovel, and heaving a small sigh Alec set about the unsavory cleaning task. If he hurried up with this, and then switching the older hay out perhaps he could help with something more pleasant like hoof cleaning, or brushing down one of the fine military horses. He almost expected Shakuntala to be here as she often was, but not everyone could do the exact same thing every day he reasoned.

Instead he recognized the girl Kody as she'd asked to be called from dorm Falken. "Oh! Kody wasn't it?" He scrunched up his brow a bit in consideration. While he was closer to the copper skinned girl, he didn't mind one bit the friendly company of the other female.

"Hey, you on morning chores around here too?" He tilted his head some, his goggles adding to his near comical expression greeting Kody all the same in a welcoming fashion. He didn't mean to sound obvious, in reality he was just glad for the company. He gave her a tired wave peering over at the girl in question. She seemed engrossed with her care of the animals, not that he could blame her.
