Name: Judith Madison Danger McCarthy
Nickname: Maddie to her older brothers. Mads to friends. Her boyfriend calls her Jude. LT or Danger to military friends. A student once referred to her as "Senator McCarthy" for her autocratic rule over her classroom, and it tickled her so much she kept it.
Age: 25
Birthday: May 11th
Sign: Taurus
Gemstone: Taurus
Blood Type: AB-
Fav. Food: Beef bulgogi. Why is Korean food so cheap and delicious in the States?
Hated Food: Raw fish. Don't even talk to her. Don't even look at her.
Occupation: Mads teaches higher-level mathematics, communication, and philosophy at Azure Valley Academy. She hosts WVDC 93.5 on weekends between 10pm and midnight.
Mads served a year as an ordnance officer with the Army, but then she got on the wrong side of an IED and the rest of her six-year contract was voided.
Hobbies: Doodling -- Mads is always doodling. Even while teaching discrete mathematics, she is drawing in her planner, a habit that not even the military could break her of. She is a killer ballpoint portraitist, but don't ask her to start drawing something below your collarbones. It's not uncommon for her to go to public places and draw people she sees--and if politely asked to, draw people who want to be drawn.
Traveling -- Being a military brat really whetted a thirst for new experiences in Mads, and as a grown adult she takes her two weeks of vacation in chunks and goes on adventures to foreign locales. She talks about her vacations at little-to-no provocation. (Her sole deployment, to Iraq, is never spoken of, except when talking about giant ******** camel spiders.)
Music -- Mads enjoys ******** around with tunes, as she puts it, singing, and mixing clips of songs together. She will give you a mix tape of these if you so much as hint you might be interested. Her remixes aren't professionally good, but they are good, and she enjoys making them and sharing them with people. What she
is great at is singing. She performs with her boyfriend at a local bar every Thursday night.
Virtues: Imperturbable -- Mads is incredibly hard to annoy. Sarcastic digs don't bother her, insensitive questions about her disability don't bother her--you can launch into a twenty-minute tirade and Mads will just look at you, unbothered. This makes her a pretty excellent teacher, because she can handle her students without getting too riled up, no matter how disrespectful they are towards her. She also handles problems well, because she can keep calm in crisis situations.
Smart -- Mads is intelligent. She landed a full scholarship to the Citadel, a military college in South Carolina, aced all of her officer training with the Army, and graduated summa c** laude. She is open about what she knows, if a bit acerbic, and doesn't have a problem breaking down big concepts into small, easily digestible chunks for someone less well-informed than she.
Flaws: Sarcastic -- She deflects personal questions with cutting remarks. Part of her personal self-image involves being Too Cool to discuss her feelings about things, and having things she'd just rather not talk about. Rather than communicating this like an adult, she snaps off some thoughtless remark. Sometimes this can make her seem like she's not taking you seriously, even if she is. The worst part is that she's aware she does this and doesn't care.
Dissociative -- Mads denies just about everything awful that has ever happened to her. Things that really bother her do not get discussed, ever--for instance, she will own up to having a problem with respecting boundaries as a kid, including like, trespassing. But she will never, ever talk about a bad breakup or her deployment to Afghanistan. She is incredibly difficult to get close to and doesn't
want to get close to people because she is incredibly invested in her image as a brick wall. She's uncomfortable with her own emotions, and tends to get, uh, loud.
