Because it was low-key, because it was away from the edge of the crater, Cami was determined to do nothing but plant and check on barrier daggers for the rest of her desert stay. Plus there were places to grab shade, to sit down and talk if you needed to rest, or even perhaps...nap. Yes, Camille had a plan and of course she had to get her best friend in on it. Hunting through the camp she told everyone that asked she already had an assignment, was just waiting for her partner to come back from a dispatch mission. Truthfully she had no idea where Otto was but she was going to wait. Oh no, she had to sit down, how awful! Finding him, Cami all but ambushed the blond, snagging him by the arm. "Hey! Did you know we have an assignment together? We totally do. Absolutely. C'mon!" Quote: They are asked to travel to all the strange sites of ruins, from large pillars to towers, to strange columns and statues faded away and place barrier daggers at various locations as well as check the progress of them. Roll 1d6. If you roll a 1 you found a location to place a dagger if you roll a 6 you found a location to check in on. You will need to do 2 of each for your entire group and then the quest is COMPLETED.

Otto was still in a mood, but it had died down. Cami's appearance was met with a tinge of shame, only for the fact he'd been acting a bit childish the last they'd spoken. "Ohya?" he murmured, letting her drag him off into the desert. This assignment seemed less irritating than fighting. Maybe he could cool off... though not in the literal sense.
It was hot.
At least he had means of keeping the scalding sun off his skin, but it meant long sleeves and a hat over his head. He was boiling. A walk in the desert. Whoopee...
Otto had a keen sense for spotting things, it seemed. Not too far into their journey, he'd found a good spot that required a barrier dagger.

Chucking a barrier dagger into the sand she watched Otto place his own before finding a bit patch of shade beneath an outcropping. Waving him over towards it she sank down, careless of the fact that her bottom would likely be gritty when she got up, enjoying the radical temperature difference. "Are you feeling any better since earlier? I've been trying to find time to talk to you but they have me doing thing after thing after thing..." Peeling her hat off, fingers combed through sweat-dampened hair.
Hugging her knees up to her chest, Cami rested her chin on the tops of her knees and smiled a bit. Most of her stoic fear had disappeared with the mundane tasks, with the fact she'd survived thus far. Plus there had been no fire. Fire in the desert might have sent her screaming back towards the portal until someone let her through.

Otto furrowed his brows, hesitantly coming to sit with Cami for a short break. His own hat came off as well, ruffling the blond locks to get some air flow back to his scalp.
"Sorta." He murmured. The heavy, irritable mood was gone. It had merely been replaced with a sleepy gloom. "Don't like missin' sleep."
His eyes picked something up in the far distance.
"There's a dagger that ain't workin' oer' there." He mumbled, waving a hand to... a place he should not have been able to spot so easily. He shrugged and wrote it down for later. Not his problem.

Unable to resist Cami reached a hand out to fluff his hair herself. Her own was already starting to stand up on the ends with static electricity from the dryness of the desert making her look a bit like...well, she wasn't sure what but it probably wasn't attractive. Damn it. "Yeah I thought we'd just come out for a few hours, do the thing, go home. Sorta like last time but..." Pausing, she shook her head. "I guess I'd rather be out here for longer as long as it's safer." Scooting closer, but not so close they were touching because damn it was hot, the dark-skinned woman leaned her head on his shoulder.
"Glad you're feeling better, though. Glad you're even here." Things probably would have been a hell of a lot worse if he hadn't been. Then again, would she have even come if not for Otto? But it was a good thing. She was mastering her fears, getting better at fighting actual things that could hurt her, and damn this tan was gonna be hot.

"Why wouldn't I be? Kinda got dragged outta bed for it." Mandatory duty was the worst. And it was S class. "Just so ya know.." He started as he thought of it. "S Class is pretty serious. So keep your head in the game, and don't lose your senses." He didn't want to lose someone again.
"I'll be around if you need me."

S Class? Obviously she'd missed most of the explanation for why they were there which was, perhaps, part of why she was so damned calm in comparison to Otto's grumpiness. Then again that was also, generally, the natural state of things. "What does that mean? S Class?" Technically she was working, scanning the horizon, seeing if anything stood out. Nothing did.

"Well like... Hunters are classed on experience. S Class is like..." He raised his hands as if attempting to gesture what he meant as he fought for words. "It's more dangerous than just the leads themselves. It's more like city destroying disasters."
Missions often blurred in his mind when he tried to recall them at first; a haze of terror and disaster.
"It takes most of the hunters to go out and contain it. If they even can."
He pointed out to another spot he could see from their perch. "Look. Over there." One other place that would need a check up. "We should head back. Get some shade and water."

Eyes went wide as she interpreted his body language, at the idea of a city-destroying disaster. Unconsciously her head swiveled back towards where she knew the crater would be, teeth worrying at her lip. They were all camped out not far from the edge of it. Should they have been? It made her quiet again, thoughtful and introspective, thinking about things that would do her no good to dwell on them. Yet she did. Years of therapy could only help adjust, not change, a person's core self. "If they even can..." She spoke quietly before shaking it off to look where directed. "Yeah, water sounds good. Maybe something to eat might pop up that isn't like, a roasted bug part or equally gross." All through the walk back the redhead had arms wrapped casually around herself, looking thoughtful and a little...troubled. She didn't even remember to hug Otto before they separated again.
