(Featuring Kelakohr and Ashrialto.
A PRP between these two boys, for the sake of friendship and socialization... and Uni talk. Potentially more will be invited later. This way to Lat's Teepee)

Kelakohr was glad to be back in the lands again.. Being on familiar ground felt good... And he was freshly returned and rested from his trip afar. True enough it was disheartening that he had made no notable progress in the search, heard no news and glimpsed no signs of his siblings... But his mother believed they were alive, out there somewhere. And when Whistle believed something, whole-heartedly, her family followed her lead... So Kel and his father had bowed to her will in this, and gone on a long search that told them nothing... So they had returned, for a time, because Kel had a lifemate to love and even Whistle's enduring will needed rest now and then.

So he had rested and fed well, and visited with his lady a time or two now that he was home for awhile. Though he did not know how long it would be before his mother mentioned the next search, he was willing to bet that she was happy enough to be back here now, in their new home. She certainly loved visiting with his Amiera and making noises about grand foals.

'That would certainly require a break between searches...' Kel thought to himself with a laugh and a shake of his head. It was a miracle if his mother wasn't off whispering to his Lady Love about the whole thing right now. Then again, if she was, it would do him no good to worry about it... And he would certainly hear about it later!

Ashrialto of the Silvershadow Clan greatly enjoyed the time spent with his family, particularly his father and grandsire. He looked forward to the days they would all get together and share tales. The stories Sibalto told of his old life, how he came to this land and everything he'd seen were among Ashrialto's favorite... It inspired the young stallion to travel, to explore and expand his range.. To make new friends where he could find them...

And so Ash wandered, bidding farewell to his family for the day and cantering as far as he could in his chosen direction. He'd wander for a bit and then return, perhaps with interesting tales of straight sights or exciting new friends... Until then, he knew they would be well.. And if something went wrong, the Kiwani herb-woman could help... And the familiars knew how to find him.

With a snap of his tail the dark-coated stallion slowed to an easy walk, cooling down from the run and admiring the scenery around him. He'd splashed through a few streams and jumped felled trees on his journey, and now walked beyond his normal point of wandering... He vaguely remembered his father telling him a story of racing as a young stallion... And some of the landmarks he'd seen could pass for them. Perhaps that was where he'd wound up?

"Interesting..."

Kelakohr laughed softly to himself, amused at the idea of his mother and Amiera plotting away back home. It was good for Amiera to have a parental figure of sorts, and Whistle certainly thrived on having a daughter so close. Especially if it enabled her to tease her son!

He had no doubt they would plot, too. Of course, it would be done in the most loving way possible. But every time he turned around, every time he turned an ear Whistle had led Amiera aside and was going on about grand-foals and how lovely it would be if she had them to dote on. Every time. He loved his mother, truly.. If her goal was to be discreet, subtlety was not Whistle's strong point. Somehow, he was sure it was on purpose.

After all, there were hints and signs, and then there were outright orders... His mother's comments had long enough left the first category and were approaching 'dangerous ground' in the second. He was waiting for the 'woe is me, for I will never have a chance to play with my grand-foals before I die' approach. It probably wasn't far off.

At the sound of hoof beats and a low murmur, Kel's ears swiveled in interest. Hmm, a new someone to talk to, perhaps?

"Hello?" He called hesitantly, voice kind but not too loud. He didn't want to startle someone if they were shy... But a discussion would be most welcome. "Is someone out there? Don't worry, I don't bite..."

Ashrialto hummed to himself as he wandered along, ears swiveling as he considered the lush forest around him. Now that he was on the lookout for landmarks, he kept noticing them. The rock with a natural bird-bath, the twisted oak trees, the crooked brook that twisted right through the main path but helpfully had a stepping stone in the middle… All of them were just like his father and grandfather had said!

With a happy murmur of sound and a flick of his tail, Ashrialto slowed in his progress, drinking in his surroundings. The distant sound of hoof beats barely registered, except to be noted somewhere in the back of his mind. However, the gentle call was somewhat harder to ignore.

Hello?

“Hello?” He returned, craning his head this way and that. There was no one it sight on the trail, or in the immediate woods to either side of him.. But it sounded like they were approaching on his left side, rather than directly in front or behind him.

I don’t bite.

Ashrialto chuckled at that, shaking his head in amusement. That sounded like someone used to encountering Kalona or Skinwalkers… Or at least someone used to encountering Soquili who were used to avoiding the same such threats. Either way, they seemed friendly enough, and if they weren’t Ash was pretty sure he remembered the stories of a nearby cave that might provide him shelter should he have need of it.

“That’s good to know… And I don’t either!” He offered cheerfully, spinning in place. “Not lost by chance, are you? Or on a wild goose chase?”

Hello?

Another stallion was drawing close by the sound of the greeting. The thought cheered him, since his most recent encounters had been with his father -pleasant enough- and his brother -significantly less so. It would be nice, in any case to make a new friend today, if he had the chance.

That’s good to know… And I don’t either!

Kelakohr actually chuckled at that, not exactly expecting a response. Then again, in the wake of the truly devastating Kalona attack and the war that had ravaged the lands, it wasn't all that surprising to find others being cautious in their interactions. "I'm glad to hear it."

Not lost by chance, are you? Or on a wild goose chase?

"I don't think so.. Just out for a nice afternoon stroll." Kelakohr explained, slightly altering his course in the direction he believed the other stallion to be calling from. "It was getting to be a bit much, amongst my family today... As for geese, can't say I've seen the need to chase one recently. Now when I was a colt..."

He trailed off with a faint sigh, guessing the other would take some amusement in the matter. It seemed like they'd get along rather well, assuming they could find each other amongst all the trees.

"I'm pretty sure we all did wild things in our youth." Ash laughed.

The idea of making new friends was always a happy one. His brother had been away for some time, and though he spent time with his father, grandfather and his son it wasn't quite the same. Making a friend that was something close to his age, with the same concerns about family, would certainly be a highpoint in his day.

Ashrialto wove through the trees with care, avoiding tangled vines and the small burrows scattered amongst the twisting roots. He hopped a fallen tree with a faint grin, nearly to the edge of the grove he knew lay ahead. As far as he would guess, that's where the other voice was coming from.

"I don't think so.. Just out for a nice afternoon stroll."

"That's good, you're a ways off if you're looking for geese anyway." Ash shrugged. "Though the swans in a lake nearby may work in a pinch? Not sure what kind of thing would need swans, but there it is."

It was getting to be a bit much, amongst my family today.

"Is that so?" He chuckled, somewhat ruefully, at the other stallion's comment. "I have to say I know the feeling... the larger the family, the more apt that is to happen I think.."

He broke through the treeline and found himself nearly face-to-nose with an indigo coated stallion, covered in glowing cyan markings. The fact that the other was a unicorn was also a pleasant surprise, but certainly explained why he didn't sound like he was likely to eat Ash.

"You are unfortunately most correct in that." Kelakohr agreed with a rueful sigh, shaking his head at remembered antics. "And of course we would like to forget them, but are rarely so lucky as that... And when our own children do the same things, we will scold them like our parents did, but pretend the idea of such mischief never once crossed our minds."

He sighed, rueful and amused all at once. He and Amiera were trying for a family (of their own minds and not due to his mother's 'hints' but she was certainly support of the matter), and the idea of foals made him worry about foalish mischief, which he knew from experience could be quite extensive. Considering the dangers that surrounded them, the idea of mischief did not a good companion make. But now was not the time nor place for such wonderings, since he'd had the fortune to encounter someone to speak to and possibily befriend.

"I know my family means well, but they can also be quite overwhelming... Even when not at full strength." The unicorn admitted softly. And it was true, even without his sisters to descend in a group, he was feeling 'out-numbered'.

His path cut abruptly into a grove, which allowed for space and gave him a slightly better idea of where he was, though the stranger had not yet made an appearance. Inching along the treeline trying to listen for the voice, Kel jumped in surprise when a night-coated stallion abruptly appeared, looking but curious and a little alarmed.

"Well then." He murmured after simply staring for a moment. "Ah, no swans necessary today... And I'm Kelakohr, just Kel as you like. Nice to meet you, nose to nose as it were."

"This I know." Ash sighed with a faint shake of his head. "When my son misbehaved, he got quite the lecture... And there was a time or two my daughter required it as well."

On the whole, both Delri and Tara had been good foals. They were polite and not overly rowdy, respective of their elders and possessing of proper manners... But they still did "foalish" things, like running off into the goods on a game of tag and getting themselves lost. And seeing a dark, scary cave (surely filled with monsters, venomous snakes, or belonging to either a Kalona or Skinwalker) which they then made up stories about to terrify each other before daring one another to enter in order to prove their bravery. Ah, to be young.

He loved his children, but at one point they had of couse been young enough to do all of these foolish things... And if his mane was not already mostly white, it certainly would have been after raising those two. But of course, now that they were grown up and searching for their own Lifemates and to raise their own family, it only made sense that Ash and his lady wanted foals again. Because foals were a joyous thing, even if they gave one gray hair.

"I've two generations within this land that are ready and able to lecture me at the fall of a leaf." He offered by way of understanding what the other meant about family. "Best intentions aside, they can be quite overwhelming particularly on the manner of raising offspring. When their ladies appear, and my extended family arrives? I find it best to make a gracious if hasty retreat."

He laughed softly, ears swiveling forward at the sudden appearance of a unicorn stallion just as he entered the grove. It was a bit of a surprise, but he relaxed almost immediately when it appeared the unicorn was the one he had been talking to the whole time.

"Indeed, it appears not." He agreed with a nod as he paced closer. "Well met, Kel. I am Ashrialto, but Ash suits me well enough."
PostPosted: Tue Jul 29, 2014 7:19 pm

Kelakohr laughed at the other stallions words, shaking his head. "I recall quite a substantial lecture when I lost my head and acted like a fool. I'm not sure what was worse, my Father's Fury or my Mother's Ire... They are both quite imposing in their own ways, it made my siblings and I strive to behave... Or at least not to be caught."

The tales of their family, or even the rivalry of the siblings, were probably not the best to share with a stranger. Still, remembering the scolding after childish antics was a fairly harmless discussion. He hoped his children wouldn't try half the antics he had as a foal, then again, perhaps it was better they did what he did rather than try something new? The unicorn shook his head with a sigh, best not to think about it.

"I'm sorry." He offered, trying not to laugh. "I must agree with you. Having both parents is enough for me... If faced with my grandparents and aunts and uncle? I would not survive my next mis-step."

He drifted forward as well, nodding. "A pleasure to meet you, Ash. This is quite a happy accident. I hope I am not keeping you from any other responsibilities, but it is nice to find someone to talk to."

"I have to agree with you." Ash murmured with a faint nod, thinking of his parents, and grand parents, and even great grand parents. It was hard to pick out what was scarrier, the stallions or the mares.

That was one of the best reasons he could think of to behave when they were having the family reunions, as a colt. True enough, he could make his own mischief... But if he did, he would have to contend with at least three disapproving generations of relatives.

The short version of the story? Not worth it.

Tara was a good girl, even now. Far less prone to stress her mother than her brother was. The two of them get along outrageously well, happy to meander together here and there... Now, Delrialto on the other hoof? Well, he was a good lad, of that there was no doubt. But Delri took after all the stallions on his father's family side, and was more likely wander for days than Tara's mere hours. Delri could wander as far as his wings or hooves would take him, and only return when his heart called him home. As sooner or later he was bound to find a Lifemate, Ash found himself wondering if one day not-far-off... That "home" would not be where his sire and dam were, but instead wherever his true love lingered.

Ash was almost certain a lecture was brewing with his little mate, but it hadn't occurred yet.

"No, you're not keeping me from anything at all, though I thank you for the concern." He bowed his head in a quick nod. "It is indeed nice to make a new acquaintence to talk to regarding family affairs... Do you have foals?"

"Family can be one's fiercest opposition or strongest support system, hmmm?" The unicorn stallion grinned.

Kelakohr considered his new friend's words for a few moments. It was somewhat difficult to decide which of his parents were more imposing, whether they be angry or merely disappointed in him. Granted, he hadn't made that mistake since his youth, but his sire's stern silver eyes and mother's disappointed looks? Well they stay with you, to say the least.

He was grateful his grandsire was not around... Ballad had told him a story here and there, enough that he knew his father was mild-mannered in comparison. If that one never appeared, Kel would be okay with it. He wouldn't say as much to his father, but the fact remains. Kel didn't need long-lost relatives to play the boogeyman, he'd rather just continue being a good son.

It was simpler, all the way around.

"No trouble at all." Kel shrugged, abruptly pulled back to the present with a smile to the other stallion. "I would hate to get you in trouble with your lady... An angered mare is a fierce foe indeed, and I do not think you would agree to be friends if it was my fault you were in such danger!"

He gave a shy smile and shook he head. "Not just yet, but my Lifemate and I are expecting our first... We are very excited, though I am more than a little nervous... After all, I remember what I was like in my youth!"

Fiercest opposition? Ash couldn't think of a time when he and his sire, or grand-sire, truly wound up at cross-purposes. There were times his grandmother had been disappointed in him.. Or mischief had made his mother frown or his father lecture him... And he was fairly sure he and his brother had upset one or two strangers in all their cavorting as foals...

And as far as family went... Granted, they had their disagreements, as all families do... But he was sincerely glad it had never gone beyond that. The idea of a rift in the close group, or of a feud separating them, was painful. No, strongest support was far better. He would always pick that, given the choice.

He shook it away. "I suppose you are right in that. Thankfully, I have always behaved myself and happily avoided their ire. I shudder to think what danger would befall me, should those circumstances change."

He flicked his tail idly, relaxed by the soothing back-and-forth movement over the grass. He and Del longed for more children, but they had not been blessed a second time.

"Well, my most heartfelt congratulations to you then!" He grinned at the other stallion, giving him an approving nod. "Congratulations, and well done indeed. I wish you all the joy that comes with chasing around tiny-hooved heathens. It is a glorious thing."
PostPosted: Wed Sep 10, 2014 4:31 pm

Kelakohr laughed at the stallion's words, nodding. "Just so... My parents are fierce indeed, in their defense of what is right or their will to battle against that which is wrong. If I found myself in the wrong as a colt, I certainly learned my lesson well."

In his youth he had once or twice gained the mocking disapproval or lecturing of his mother, and on occasion he supposed his father as well. After all, no one was perfect and younglings made mistakes both foolish and unwise. However, that was a far cry from truly upsetting either parent... And it was different still than earning their disapproval as an adult.

But now he was about to be a parent himself, which meant many of his foalhood antics were at the forefront of his mind. In this land there were so many dangers that threatened his family. Kalona and Skinwalkers, being counted amongst the worst. Whatever trouble they might find themselves in would be minor, so long as none of those were involved.

"I thank you very much." Kel laughed and inclined his head in a nod at the stallion's grin and light teasing. "I am sure I will deeply enjoy the chasing of such heathens as fate sees fit to bless me with. I have long wished for a family, so we are truly thrilled."

"It is what made us who we are today, without a doubt." Ashrialto murmured with a nod and a smile. Memories darted through his mind, both good and bad... He loved his family dearly, and would have to visit his parents again soon with all this talk of them. "And while we are most grateful for it, now, in our wisdom..."

He chuckled and shifted on his hooves, pacing a relaxed semi-circle around the glade. "While we are grateful for it now... Then I think we were properly terrified."

Ash could almost see the stallion worrying about the safety of his family. After all, Ashrialto had done the same thing once upon a time... He knew that worried look that a stallion got, when his role expanded to include the safety and health of his children as well as his mate.

"Glad to hear it." Ash nodded, grinning as he considered the Unicorn stallion. "Forgive my asking, but do you know by chance how to heal? I know a few unicorn crosses, with less power than their purer kin... But my mother did not speak overly much of her gifts and I find myself curious."
