Next on Taima's list of assigned duties was a delivery to a reaper. That was pretty much all of the information she had been given before she was handed the stack of papers she was supposed to drop off and sent on her way. There were way too many portals to check, so she'd just have to chance it. She went through one at random, but there didn't seem to be anyone on the other side.

There didn't seem to be much of anything around here, period. Taima chose a direction and started walking, not seeing much else but sand, sand, and more sand.

Walking was silly, Taima decided, taking to the sky to see if she'd have better luck spotting her target that way. Even if she didn't, at least she wouldn't have to deal with more sand in her shoes.

Taima didn't seem to be having much luck in the air, either. There was nothing of note in the direction she was flying in, so she let herself drift in ever-widening circles, giving her a chance to see the entire desert area.

Even if Taima didn't find who she was looking for, it was nice to stretch her wings. The current was nice and warm, so all she had to do was let herself glide.

Taima didn't really mind that she couldn't find who she was looking for. She'd much rather be flying, anyway.

Maybe she could just ditch this entire internship thing. Making coffee and flying around the desert wasn't very exciting anyway.

Fortunately, the decision was rendered moot as her sharp eyes caught sight of a figure moving around in the sand below. There was nothing special about it, nothing that marked it as the person she was specifically looking for, but there was literally nothing and no one else for miles that she could see from her vantage point high in the air.
Taima tucked her wings and dove towards the figure, pulling up sharply to land in front of it in a swirl of sand. The reaper cried out in surprise and staggered back, drawing a pleased smile from Taima. It grew wider as the reaper eyed the paperwork she was holding with wariness and distaste.
"Are," the reaper said, swallowing thickly, "are those for me?"
"They sure are," Taima said, her wings spreading as the reaper took the papers from her.
"Would you happen to have a pen?" The reaper asked hopefully.
Taima, who had no pockets, no purse, and nowhere else to hold a pen, sighed and headed back towards the portal.
