Taima wasn't much for cooking. Actually, she was terrible at it. She mostly lived off of creepateria food, minis she caught and ate in her natural form (usually), and coffee. Fortunately, it seemed like her first task was right up that alley. She made herself coffee all of the time, how hard could it possibly be to make it for other creeple?

She finally found the coffee machine, giving the layer of dust that had been allowed to accumulate on it a cursory wipe with a nearby rag--that was equally dusty, naturally--and then hesitated. This was not a normal coffee maker. It had buttons and settings that she couldn't even begin to guess at what they did.

Unfortunately, it didn't seem like she would have much time to figure it out. A demon noticed her standing at the coffee machine and made a beeline for her. "Miss," it said, "are you open? I need coffee to operate at maximum efficiency! Coffee! Miss? Miss!"

"Okay," Taima said, not quite yelling to be heard over the babbling demon. "I will make you coffee. You will take it and you will like it, and then you will go away."

"Okay!" The demon finally shut up as Taima began digging through the cabinets and fridge for ingredients, but the steady taptaptap as it waited impatiently was almost just as bad. "Make mine iced, and extra bloody," it said.

Taima's feathers ruffled as she found what she was looking for, dumping both a cup of blood and a handful of ice in the machine. There was no instruction manual laying around that she could see, so she pressed one of the many, many buttons on the machine and hoped for the best. It seemed to be her lucky day, as the machine growled and whirred and finally spat out some cold coffee. She added some more ice to the cup before putting it on the counter between herself and the demon.

The demon snatched it up eagerly and took a long drink. "Delicious," it finally declared. "Well worth the long, long wait!" It hurried away before Taima could reply, for which she was thankful.

Unfortunately, Taima didn't have a whole lot of time to figure out all of the bells and whistles of the coffeemaker. It seemed that word had spread about the coffee being served, and before Taima knew it, she was faced with a ghost whose impatience was rivaled only by her rudeness.

"Excuse me," the ghost said. "Coffee? Now? Thanks."

Taima responded with a raised eyebrow, her arms crossed over her chest. "Any particular kind, or do I get to experiment?" She did so hope the ghost would let her experiment.

"Ugh, really?" The ghost huffed as if Taima was just supposed to know what she wanted and act accordingly. "Just give me something with spiderwebs in it."

Taima bared her teeth in a smile that was only friendly in the way that losing a limb was only a flesh wound. "Coming right up," she said, withdrawing some lightly curdled milk from the fridge. She found a box of spiderwebs, then dumped it and the milk in the machine. She pressed a button completely at random and was not disappointed when it hissed and produced a steaming hot cup of coffee. She put it on the counter somewhere in front of the rude ghost and then proceeded to pointedly ignore her until she went away.

Another demon was waiting in the wings for some fresh-brewed coffee. Fortunately, all of his attention seemed to be on the eyePhone in his hands. "I'll have whatever she's having, but make mine red," he said to it, though clearly the order was directed at Taima.

This customer, she didn't seem to mind so much. At least he was quiet as he flipped through his phone, occasionally tapping on the screen. It let her work in peace, and she took extra care in making his drink. Luckily, she remembered which button she had pressed the last time, and it came out similarly, only red with the added blood.

"Here you go," Taima said with a smile as she put the cup down in front of the demon. He muttered a thanks and grabbed his coffee, never once looking up from his phone. No one else seemed to be coming, so Taima left while she could.
