Kaishara Immareska trotted around yet another rocky outcrop, admiring the beauty of sheer cliffs and sudden drops. For the most part it appeared she was alone in the mountains, but the cold gray and blue-black of the stone were quiet company. As a Phantom descendant she had a habit of appreciating beauty wherever she found it, and the mountains were quite lovely.
She had yet to explore the mountains thoroughly, and with free time in her day before she was expected to see her sister, she found her time best spent amongst the quiet peaks. A scatter-chime of stones under hooves gave off a bell-like sound, and she flared her wings slightly when it resulted in her hooves sliding on the loose gravel. Sliding slightly down the incline she snapped her tail and shook herself when she was once again on stable ground.
"Close one." She murmured to herself, laughing softly. Her sister would have never let her hear the end of it if she showed up with skinned knees from falling face-first down the mountains.

The Mountain side had proven to be just as desolate today as it had been a couple of days ago. Matania wasn’t sure what to make of it at this point. After meeting with her brother for the first time in nearly a year, of which was very awkward and uncomfortable, it had left the mare on edge. His words of warning still echo’d into the deep recesses of her mind, taunting her relentlessly.
’The Shadow could be here in the Kawani.’
He had said it so simply, with not an inch of emotion on his face. At least, that’s what he had tried to do. But Matania knew better. As his sister she could still see the stark look of betrayal, hatred, and fear in his eyes. After Siriva’s death Mataius was never the same. Siriva had brought out the best in her brother. And now he blamed her for everything that happened. Blamed her for his true love’s death.
But it wasn’t her fault! She had to remind herself constantly, and especially now since his presence came to her in the Kawani, the southern lands. It wasn’t her fault that Siriva had pushed her out of the way from the oncoming fire storm. It wasn’t her fault that the mare screamed at her to run despite Matania’s protests. And it wasn’t her fault that the Shadow had escaped the first time anyway! Nobody knew how she escaped from her prison!
Either way Matania looked at it, Mataius wasn’t going to listen, wasn’t going to look at the facts. He was a proud, stubborn stallion. A stallion who which stayed true to his breed sake. Matania couldn’t harbor animosity from that end, for she too was a proud mare. So, here she was, in the lands of the Kawani, forbidden to return to the northern herd alliance in which she called home for the entirety of her life.
Matania let out a small sigh as her inner musings wavered off into oblivion. The past was the past. She was going to have to move forward sooner rather than later. But damn if it wasn’t hard, if not nearly impossible to do. The whole things still felt fresh. Even at night she could feel the flames from the fires that destroyed her home and charge of Gelkmaros licking her skin. She quickly shook her head.
No.
She would not think of it now. There was a mission to do, a soquili to find. The Shadow. She must find it and destroy it once and for all. Mataius may have lost all hope in her. He may not believe in her anymore. But if she gave up on herself she would have lost everything and more. And that would be unforgiveable.
It was then she accidentally stumbled into something. Something warm and…breathing?
Shocked at the fact that her attention was so gone, she reeled back quickly and apologies flew from her mouth.
"Oh! I'm sorry!!"

'Whoof.' The wind mare thought to herself as she tossed a quick glance back over her shoulder. 'Immareska... If you hadn't stopped yourself, that would have been quite nasty. Your sisters would have had a field day with it, make no mistake.'
The sudden incline wasn't very steep and skitter-slide of progress didn't have time to build speed. As it was, the path before her it melded back into another gradual incline. As such, she had righted herself in relatively short order. Overall the path through the mountains was a constant up-down was a little rough, but the exercise was good for her legs and the scenery was compelling. The soft sound of her hooves on stone was a basic bell-tone, and the skitter of rocks chimed softly in counterpoint. She moved in a soft natural music and hummed to herself as she went along.
With a half-rear Kaishara smiled to herself and gave another quick shake, dispelling the sudden creep-crawl of fear up her spine when she had begun to slide. Considering the next rise she fluffed her wings and began the climb again, happy to find a level point where she could hesitate and take in her surroundings.
It was about that point that someone suddenly bumped into her, and she skittered sideways in surprise. "Oh! I'm sorry!!"
"I do apologize!" She said at almost the same moment as she turned to face the other mare, and laughed softly. "I wasn't exactly paying attention. It was my first trip by myself through the mountains."
