Being an intern seemed exciting! Van didn’t really know what he wanted to do about this, but he did try to make everyone pleased with him, all the time. He was talking aloud to himself about whatever tasks he thought he should probably do. “It’s coffee time!” he singsonged to himself, bounding about and looking for the coffee machines. He wasn’t sure why he had to brew coffee, but his mind was free of concern or interest in figuring that out. It was like a happy humming sound nonstop in there.

Not a lot of thoughts. Probably because they were all aloud.

“Heyyy! Do you know how these work??” Van said, calling out to someone he’d never met, who looked like they might be a volatile individual. Not that he thought the word volatile. Really, he just didn’t want to try to figure this out alone in case he broke it. There was suddenly a line of people forming near the coffee machines, as if they could sense the imminent coffee.

Popo hated this place. She wanted to be back in her dorm room. Or better yet, back home to her mansion. She was not a handmaid, Jackdammit!

The irritable Fire Imp glared daggers at an eager boil asking for help. "I dunno! Try shoving it up your a**!" She grouched at him in a high pitched and bitchy voice.

Van, poised to hit some random buttons on the brewomatic nearest him, stared at Popo. "I don't think that would brew very much coffee! Much less anything worth drinking," he finally said, with a smile, his tail batting back and forth. Whether or not he realized she wasn't serious was a mystery. Van tended to reply to things at face value, regardless of whether or not he meant what he said.

"Maybe we just have to... what about this switch?? Hey, you can go yell at people to stay in line, maybe? Would that be better? Or if you wanna see if you can make coffee, I could use the help!" Van said, as though the earlier exchange had never happened. He stuck his purple tongue out at Popo.

His tongue was like a mood ring. Purple when he was happy (his normal state). So he was pretty good, for now. The first order went right over his head. Van smiled at them sort of o uo without really doing anything, his tail flicking back and forth.

He turned towards the machines, and well, hey, he'd scraped a lot of cobwebs off the machines earlier... so... and looking in the fridge, he grabbed a random container. It turned out to be milk.

He used the coffee's frothy stick thing to swirl cobwebs into the milk, and steaming it until it was foamy and it smelled pretty good. He sprinkled cinnamon all over the surface.

This boil was stupid! That was okay. She could deal with stupid. Maybe.

She crossed her arms. No way was she making coffee for filthy adults! Look at them! All panicked and dressed in dumb suits! However, when given the option of order them around and take their money...

That hadn't really what had been said, but that's how she took it.

Poppy pulled up a tall stool, and perched atop it so she could actually see and greet the line up of customers. Well now! It was like her own little cafe shop! Yes, her own business. "Dollar! Yes! Two Dollars! Give it!" She demanded, taking their money and stuffing it into the register.

"Give the coffee! Give it!" She ordered Van around, smacking his rump with the length of her tail when he was near. "Faster!"

Van was very pleased when the ghoul he'd only just met took up a stool and started to be very efficient at directing the customers and handling the register. It took a lot of stress off of him, especially because all he could do was make coffee-- and even that, he was doing very poorly.

"If they complain, we'll just make her deal with it!" he said, cheerfully, addressing the coffee machines as he took the second order. "Ow! Hey! That's way better than when I do that," he lamented, his ears going flat against his head as he tried not to spill the newest of his concoctions.

He heard vaguely something about milk again, or was it something called a steamed beverage? Steam, he thought, rose when he frothed the milk with that little metal stick thing-- He wanted to mix it up, though, so this time he got a container labelled ichor out of the fridge and avoided sniffing it.

It didn't help. His hyper-sensitive nose made his eyes tear up. He sneezed in Popo's general direction, so long as it was away from the beverages it was okay, right?!

He frothed the ichor and milk together, and handed the drink off. "We are the best team ever!" he declared, wildly inaccurate but also very enthusiastic.

"Ew! Gross!" Popo snarled, smacking him across the face. This time, with her tail lit on fire. "Don't sneeze on me!" Sneeze in the coffee. Duh. She was obviously way more important to keep happy than some overworked, sweaty office reaper.

Customers were getting testy, to which Popo simply shoo'd them away with a haughty hand wave. "You bought it, you got it. NEXT!"

This ghoul. Could light. Her tail. On fire.

"That's AWESOME, do it again!?" Van asked, trying not to spill coffee all over the place as he bounded back and forth a few times, nearly hopping up on the counter in sheer joy. He was a teen boil, he was similar to a demonic hellhound, and he was very full of energy. It was like he was getting a secondary caffeine rush just from being around the coffee.

Except he was like this all the time. "You're awesome! That was awesome! Wow, so cool," he said, beaming madly as he went to make a third drink. And she was telling customers to get lost, this ghoul was so coooool.

Van bounded about with drink containers in his arms, every supply from the fridge now strewn about haphazardly, some of it leaking across the floor at random. He knew how to froth the milk nicely, so why mess with that? Van accidentally cut his hand on something as he was trying to find a new ingredient, though, and spilled a bunch of his blood into the coffee. His eyes flared up, and his tongue turned orange for a moment, as he sucked in a gasp of pain and then literally sucked on his wound, licking it clean and frothing the blood into the coffee before handing it over with a shifty look on his face.

Blood was a totally acceptable ingredient. Totally very.

"There are too many reapers, I think we should ditch 'em before this gets even more boring!" Van suggested, tail whipping back and forth, "Heyyy, what else can you light on fire?" he asked, enthusiastically. He was leaning towards her, head in his hands, the red glow of his eyes like headlights.

This boil was so easy. In fact, he could be a delightful minion!

The girl grinned, pointed teeth flashing in a wide array of mischief. "Everything." She answered, stuffing some money into the till and scampering off with Van. They were gunna light this town on FIRE!
