Tali did not like walking home at night, but her apartment was close enough to the school that most days, she had to. It was only the nights when she got caught up in grading - or, sometimes, in playing with one of her particularly talented students' creations, like tonight - that it was ever really a problem.
It was after dark, and after dark in Destiny City was not a good time. She felt watched, and she really, really hoped it was just paranoia.A rooftop or two away, Kerberos stood next to his General, surveying the few people who were out on the streets. There wasn't much in the way of auras prickling his senses, which made for what might have been a boring night, except things with Avalon were never boring.
"What's on the agenda tonight? Terrorizing innocent civilians to try and flush out Order?" Always a fun adventure.

"No," said Avalon, from where she stood closer to the edge of the roof. She could teleport if she slipped. Kerberos, being close to hand, could not. "We're going to commit a murder. Do you have a backup store of starseeds, Kerberos?" It was a practical question; she found it important to have a little extra in case she came up against a battle that couldn't end with a flash-step and a sword through the chest. It happened, sometimes, senshi who were too fast or too keen to die on the first blow. She flipped her hood down, leaned forward and squinted. "It's important to be prepared. As the Boy Scouts say, semper paratus." Then, she changed her tune: "By the way, who did your tattoos? I was thinking of getting one." Offing a man wasn't on her agenda, she had nightmares anymore--not of Bischofite but of Anthony Derouen, murdered in his home. Lucky for her, there were plenty of likely ladies--where 'plenty' meant two within easy sighting distance. Only one of them was near enough to a quiet, out-of-the-way location to get dragged into the shadows, though. "Follow me down," she ordered, hopping from the rooftop. She could've teleported, but, like, no point. The green-haired civilian she had her eye on was going nowhere particularly fast. Tali was the poor civilian that Avalon reached out of the alley to grab, one hand headed for her mouth to smother any sound, the other swinging around her waist.

"I don't," Kerberos confessed. It was hard to psych himself up to kill civilians when he was out by himself. Never when someone else was there, particularly if it was Avalon, who he both greatly wanted to impress and greatly did not want to anger, but on his own it was easy to talk himself out of it. "Which is probably not smart, given how much trouble I get myself into." There was a hint of a smile on his face.
"My boyfriend did them, actually, before we started dating. I can introduce you, if you're interested," he offered. A discussion of what one could and couldn't tell Luka could come later, when there weren't murders to be plotted.
So he hopped down after her, eyes on their target. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tali very definitely screamed, even though it was quickly muffled by the hand over her mouth. There was absolutely nothing good about knowing that she was right and had indeed been followed - because whoever was following her clearly wanted to do her harm. She started fumbling for her wallet, as if giving them her money might help, because that had to be what was happening, right?
She was definitely being mugged, it was the only possibility, anything else was far, far too scary.

"That would be great," she said, her conversational tone never changing. In her chest, her heart beat nice and slow as she called her sword to hand, slipped an arm around the woman's neck in a chokehold. "Is he one of us, or is he… you know. Not." To Tali, she said, "Oh, shh, dear. It'll only hurt for a moment, and your soul's going to a good cause!" Her blade radiated cold where the point rested, gently, between her shoulder blades, pressing through fabric. "If you're religious," Avalon added, "I advise you to pray. Wouldn't want you meeting your maker unshriven." Silverah After Song's next post you should come in?

It was a little surreal, to be so casual while Avalon was literally preparing to end someone's life, but he had to focus on the fact that this was for the good of the Negaverse - and in the abstract, maybe getting one over on Order, in a way.
"He's not, as far as I know," which was well and good with him, for the moment. The woman wasn't his concern unless Avalon asked him to take her starseed, as far as he cared.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tali kept on screaming, rising in pitch when the cold blade pressed against his back. She did, however, begin to take the advice to pray. 'Mule, I have no idea what I did to deserve prikaza, especially one this harsh, but whatever I did I am sorry please, please don't let me die like this.'

Luckily, Babylon was in the neighborhood. Under normal circumstances he'd be likely to steer clear of Negaversers hunting in packs - a general and a corrupt senshi, even a rookie one, were more than he felt he could take single-handedly. But the screaming civilian changed things markedly, and he could not stand idly by while an innocent person suffered. He changed his course, making a beeline for the target. It didn't even connect that the general he was marching into battle against was Avalon until he'd already started his descent from the rooftops. Given the circumstances, he didn't think he had much of a choice in engaging her - better just suck it up and deal. The senshi was not doing anything. He was not Babylon's target for the moment. Instead, he brushed his fingers over his signet ring to glitch his movements and turned his attention to Avalon. "Not tonight!" he yelled, charging at the general with his shoulder lowered. All he wanted to do was to get her away from the civilian, to give the girl time to escape. After that he'd figure out what to do next, how to stall her, how to get away- Romeo Wilco ASPECT OF MERCURY: A Mercury Knight's form becomes staticy / glitchy in appearance, as if they were products of the advanced technology that is their planet's pride and joy. "Kerberos, take her starseed and go," ordered Avalon, bodily shoving her captive towards the corrupted senshi. "I'll summon you once he's all taken care of." They'd have to go to the Rift and call it an early night, no doubt, thought Avalon, but better that than losing one of her team members to Babylon. She thought she got out of the way of him in time, but the shoulder crashing hard into her gut proved that assumption very, very wrong. What the ******** was wrong with her eyes? Was it something he was doing? On instinct, she threw an arm around where she thought his neck ought to be, by the simple fact that he'd just pile-drived her several feet backwards, and thankfully found it. "Yes, tonight," she snapped. "Back the ******** off and go home, Babylon!"

Kerberos grinned, catching the girl and holding on - but his captive apparently was feeling at leas somewhat fighty, because she drove an elbow into his gut and the corrupt gasped, letting her slip from his grip.
"God ******** damn it get back here," he growled, taking off after her once he'd caught his breath.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tali had no idea who had just saved her, but she was going to find the weirdo in black later and thank him. A lot. He'd given her the opportunity to get away, even if she could hear the dude with the blue hair chasing after her.
Suddenly, she stopped in her tracks, because a small vial of glowing blue liquid was floating in front of her and she had no idea what it was. She reached out and grabbed it, and something surged inside her.
And suddenly, she wasn't just Tali anymore.

Avalon had him by the neck, and Babylon narrowed his eyes at her. By now, they'd established that she wasn't going to kill him. The things inside his head were too valuable and Avalon wasn't the sort of person to give that up easily. She might pull his starseed out of his chest, but that hadn't worked out the first time and he didn't plan to repeat the experience any time soon. "What, and let you just kill her?" he asked, wrenching his head back, trying to catch her with a headbutt. "You're not even supposed to be collecting starseeds." A flash of blue light in his peripheral vision caught his eye. Was that...? It was! Mercury page! Babylon's heart sang, and he struggled harder to throw an elbow in Avalon's direction and break free of her grip. "Definitely not tonight!" he hollered. "Hands off!"

"Yes, and just let me kill her," said Avalon, "and how the ******** do you know what we're supposed to be doing--" That light. "Oh ******** s**t," she said. She didn't exactly trust Kerberos versus a knight and a page on his own yet. He was learning, but he wasn't learning that fast that she could leave him be and like, not expect him to somehow get himself dead. In her distraction, Babylon broke free, no doubt aided by that magic of his. "Kerberos, the civilian's lost, so you'd better move it too," she shouted, and she summoned her sword back to hand with an easy flick of her wrist. "Unless you think you can take the Page?" She was going to ******** stab Babylon. Nonfatally. She thrust the blade forward, towards Babylon's back, and hoped he wouldn't clear the distance before her sword sunk into him.

Kerberos froze when his eyes fell on the Page in front of him. "You have got to be kidding," he groaned. On the upside, she looked confused and terrified. Probably brand-new, and just brave enough to investigate some Chaos. Or unlucky enough to power up in the middle of a fight.
"I can handle this one, Avalon, I promise," he said. No reason to let her get back into the fight and help that Knight. So he threw a punch, aimed for her face.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tali - no, another name tugged in the back of her mind, something warm and familiar, Mimisbrunnr - had no clue what was going on, but she did know that she really didn't want to leave the person who had rescued her all alone. Her hand curled tight around her vial, and she dodged the punch.
"Oh, my god," she said, her voice panicked, "what is even going on." Desperately, she threw a punch at the one attacking her, but unfortunately she wasn't used to any of this, and so he caught her fist, twisting her arm. "Ow ow ow ow ow!"

Avalon's sword cut through Babylon's cloak and coat like a hot knife through butter, to use a totally cliche simile. He felt the blade slice into his back - a shallow cut, little more than a scratch, but cold all the same. "Damn!" exclaimed Babylon, but he made no effort to turn back and face her. The page was his first and only priority, and so he charged ahead. "Oi!" hollered the knight, aiming for the corrupt senshi with a running tackle. "Get away from her!" They were not in any position to be able to win this fight, but maybe if he could injure the senshi enough, he could force a retreat? Or they could run? Or-- He slammed into the senshi with a deep-throated grunt.

Now he was laying his hands on Kerberos? Unforgivable. She would see him corrupted or she would see him dead, the awful, beautiful-- Avalon broke past him with a quickly-placed teleport, and then pressed her advantage with an arm around the Page's throat. She pressed a hand flat against the woman's chest, the threat and implication clear. "Let Kerberos go, Babylon, or I will kill her right here. You know you have no chance of stopping me."

Luckily for Babylon - but very unluckily for Kerberos - slamming directly into his midesction, which was still recovering from being stomped on just over a month before, was enough to drive all the air from Kerberos's lungs and send him doubling over, coughing.
"Ow, ******** you," he gasped, lashing out with a rather desperate punch. Goddamnit, he did not want his ribs re-broken, they were finally healing.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mimisbrunnr let out a panicked shriek when Avalon's arm wrapped around her throat. She was well aware that she was in danger, even if the sword was no longer against her back.
"Oh god please don't kill me," she said, frozen stiffly in place. "I don't want to die, please, just let me go," not that she expected her pleading would do much good in this form. Her fingers tightly clenched around the vial in her hands, and she considered pouring the liquid in it on the woman holding her - but that would only serve to antagonize her, and right then, the newly-minted Page just wanted to go home.

Babylon had no reason to trust Avalon, besides the very small hope that she still retained some of the sense of honor she'd had as a knight. He loosened his grip on the senshi, just enough to make him more comfortable. "Trade you," he said. He did not want the new page to be killed, or even hurt, and Avalon definitely had the advantage right now. He released his grip, letting Kerberos go with a bit of a shove. "You've got yours back, Avalon," he said. "Now give me mine, or you'll never get close enough to me again to even speak to me, let alone claim me for your side. You know how good I am at disappearing." It was a low blow. His stomach ached.
