When Hanna had been woken up as a Hunter, she was handed a Death Hunter jacket. She had no say in the matter. There were times when she fluctuated, wondering if it was really the right path, but whenever she was on a mission, it felt right to her. Hanna did not want constant fisticuffs of a Sun, she did not want the pressure of protecting someone like a Moon. No, she wanted to know stuff. Being assigned to scavenge ruins for interesting items that may or may not contain Fear was, to Hanna, like getting sent on a really cool field trip to the zoo as a child. This was her s**t.

Fear detector in hand, Hanna scanned the horizon as the two girls finally made it over to the assigned area. It looked well... "Awful," Hanna finished out loud. "What is this place?" Booted feet slipped across the sand until it gradually turned into rocks and -- holy s**t, a hole in the ground.

Hanna stumbled backward on impulse. "There's a... crater. A giant crater," she explained. "Sorry, jesus, I'm thinking out loud. I saw a big hole in the ground and got some sort of PTSD flash or something, right. Right. Anyway, I'm fine, let's do this thing. Oh, also -- how are you?" The rambling was rambl-y. Talking helped put Hanna at ease at times when she felt like things were not in her control.

Which was apparently now.

Knowing stuff was well and good but it meant taking risks, going places alone, doing things that she'd preferably rather do.

Cami had basically just described a list of Hanna's favorite things. Sort of.

"We're searching for items with Fear and collecting them," she said. She pulled a bag from her pocket and passed it to Cami. "And then we put them in these. Only have enough for 3 items, then we have to go back."

The detector in her hand was beeping lightly. Hanna crossed over to the edge of the crater where the piles of stuff were thickest and began scanning. "So if there is something with a large amount of Fear it will--" Her voice was cut off as the detector began to fire off. She stopped, shooting a glance over her shoulder. "That was fast."

Reaching down, Hanna pulled out a contorted skull. It looked like it belonged to a minotaur, or some other animal with horns. She brought it close to her face, studying it carefully. "What do you think this used to be?" she said, gesturing for Cami to bring a bag over.

"Sure, let's go with goat," Hanna said, letting Cami carry it. It seemed to make the most sense since she seemed more iffy about heading to the edge of the crater.

Scanning the area, the Death Hunter kicked around some burned jewelry and more skulls. "S level mission," she said, shaking her head. "This is some serious s**t. As long as it is reconnaissance, I am down. It's the pew-pew, slice-slice that seems to kick my a**."

Hanna bent down and pulled out a massive amulet with a cracked jewel, black with soot. "If only our uniforms had swag like this," she remarked, slipping it on over her head. Well, trying to -- at least. The chain shattered and it fell to the ground in a heap.

She shrugged it off and kept moving.

"I can't wait to be promoted," Hanna said, with a sigh. "Goodbye, coffee duty and filing. Hello... actual s**t To Do. At least I hear you guys in Sun get more of a welcome than we do."

"Caelius is icy and brilliant," Hanna said. It was a massive compliment from her, the kind of character traits she aspired to one day have others call her by. "And, you know, terrifying. There are lots of rumors, I don't know. Being out of commission as long as I was meant missing a lot of stuff."

When Cami pointed out another item, Hanna ran the detector over it and it went off. She turned over her shoulder and shot her a grin. "Wow, you're, like, a human Fear detector." Boots clomped over several more skulls. Hanna stooped and picked up a long golden chain, remarkably well kept compared to the other items. It creeped her out.

Hanna dropped it into the bag. "That one is creepy."

The detector beeped at another object for a moment, but then stopped. False alarm. "What do you think all of this is about?" Hanna asked, moving along the perimeter slowly but carefully.

As Cami pointed and Hanna scanned, the detector pinged again. "Holy s**t, Indiana Jones -- you are a human Fear detector. Don't tell Life. They'll cut you into pieces and study you." She smiled, but was sort of serious.

Climbing toward the edge, Hanna found what appeared to be a flat rock. A flat, Fear-infused rock apparently. It went into the third and final bag. "I don't think this is just recovery. If it is, then why bring us all here? Unless maybe it was a time sensitive recovery, like we only have this small window, I don't know..."

Hanna turned one last time to glance out over the crater. "I don't want to meet whatever made this crater," she said quietly. "All right, better head back and drop these off."
