Evangeline had certainly taken to her parents life of wandering. Though she spent less time with them now she still enjoyed traveling with them now and then, and of course she would always travel to go see them if their paths took them in different directions. Having recently visited with her parents Evangeline set out once more with no real destination in mind. That was half of the fun of being a wanderer, you could go where you liked whenever you liked and there were only a few things that could interrupt your eventual destination.

It had been a few days since she had left her parents and she was looking forward to seeing what lay in store for her. Though she traveled a lot by air, why wouldn't she fly after all it was faster and easier for the most part, Evangeline decided to take a break from flying and landed softly on the ground. As she began to walk along the meadow with a stand of trees not far away she had this feeling that she had been here before. Stopping she took a good look around taking in the features of the land. That ridge over there reminded her of the one she had stood upon with another filly, Adalaide, and watched some knights in training. Could it be possible that she had returned to her childhood friends home without realizing it? Well unless Evangeline's memories were off she was certain that this was where Adalaide lived. Perhaps she was still here. It would be nice to see and catch up with her old friend, especially one that held the title of princess. Would she be a queen now? Evangeline was looking forward to finding out. So she began walking once more looking for any signs of those who might be a part of Adalaide herds.

Adalaide rolled her eyes slightly as she walked over the rise and away from the herd below for a bit of peace and quiet. Really...sometimes they could be a bit much those stallions, always freeting, always worrying and for what? When was the last time anyone had attacked the herd? She couldn't even recall it and so it must have been quite a while. Did that make them relax at all? No..instead they walked around bemoaning how they were short of hands because a few of the Knights had gone off on a trip of some sort.

It was all just a bit much as far as Adaliade was concerned and after promising not to go to far and assuring them one hundred times that she was fully capable of taking care of herself for at least a short amount of time she had made them agree to let her take a trip to the stream near the edge of the herd territory.

Of course upon topping the rise the last thing she expected to see was the form of another Soquili on the horizon. For a brief moment she stilled, on the brink of calling out to the herd below in warning ... but there was something familiar about the Soquili coming this way and squinting Adalaide tried to make out who it might be.

It was such beautiful land here. But then again nearly everywhere she had gone in her travels so far had been beautiful, sometimes in a very unique way. She knew that this land had it's hidden treasures as well, but also knowing that it was fully of royalty and guards and knights she was not about to go rushing into the trees looking for those places. What Evangeline needed to do was find someone from the herd, explain why she was here and see if her friend was around. That way she wouldn't stumble into trouble. Trouble was something she tried to avoid as much as possible, but sometimes as a wanderer trouble waited around the next tree.

She scanned the area as she walked looking for any sign of a guard or other herd member. When she caught a flash of color and movement on the ridge Evangeline stopped and took a closer look. Though she was still a fair distance away she could make out a purple hide on a relatively small frame and wings. Could it really be that simple? Was she that lucky to find her friend within moments of arriving here? To find out she began to walk towards to ridge, but kept her sense alert for any of Soquili that might come across her. Once she got closer, enough to make out more details of the other Soquili, she was certain she was looking at her friend, but it had been so long she needed to make sure. "Adalaide? Is that you?" She asked as she got closer to the mare, if it wasn't Adalaide then it had to be a family member who could point her in the right direction.

"Evangaline?" Adalaide exclaimed as the mare grew closer - oh it had been a long time but she had never meet another Soquili with markings quite like Evangaline and so despite her being a full grown mare now and not the filly she had played with as a foal Adalaide was more then convinced that this was her. Besides..who else would know her name like that? Adalaide didn't have many friends outside of the herd.

"It's me!" She confirmed with a slight laugh. "My it's been so long!..and you've grown so much!" She stated, just look at that mane her friend sported, if Adalaide wasn't so secure in her own looks why..she'd certainly be jealous about those ringlets. Moving closer she gave her old friend a warm look. "What brings this way? " From what she could recall Evangalines family were of the wandering sort and she suspected that Evangaline had grown up to follow in her families hoofprints but the question was a good conversation starter and Adalaide was hoping that her friends travels might have lead to some interesting stories.

A laugh rolled out of Evangeline as she got closer and heard confirmation that it was indeed her friend Adalaide that she was seeing. In all her travels she always felt such great joy whenever she returned to her parents or found an old friend again. So today, finding Adalaide so easily it just made her want to dance. "It has been far too long!" She said not that they were close to truly see each other. "I could say the same about you! You are looking great." She smiled at her friend.

Her gaze shifted for a moment to take in Adalaide's families land. It sure was beautiful here, no wonder Adalaide was still around. Of course, being the princess of the herd was another reason for the mare to stick around. It made the friendship all the more special, that someone of such high breeding was willing to be friends with a wanderer. She swung her gaze back to Adalaide. "Nothing in particular really." She said with a slight laugh. "Such is the life of a wanderer, you don't always know where you are heading until you get there." Certainly when she had set out she hadn't planned to come here, but once she had seen the familiar area there was no stopping her from coming here to visit an old friend. "It's so good to see you! You must tell me everything that has happened since we last saw each other!" She didn't actually expect every detail, but she was curious as to what Adalaide had done since then.

"Why thank you!" Adaliade responded, striking a prim pose at the compliment as a jest - though she knew the compliment was genuine. It was important to be somewhat humble about ones good looks.

"How exciting that must be." She remearked "If I go on a trip here it is planned nearly to death, I swear if they could mark out every single hoofstep I will take they would do so!" She told her friend with a slight laugh, it was only partially a joke though Adalaide was pretty sure that they might actually do that if it was possible. "Not that I go on many trips of course." At least not lately with so many things going on.

"Some rather crazy things have happened to be honest - and I expect you should know, I wouldn't want you wandering into an unsafe area during your travels." She told the other mare. "Our Knights have become aware of a dangerous herd up near the mountains - they actually rescued a slave a while back."

Evangeline gave her head a slight shake. "It can be fairly exciting at times. Especially when going to an area that I've never been to before, you never know what to expect. Usually it's safe and I have a great time, but every now and then I do stumble across something bad and then I get out of there quick. But overall, it's such a great way to live, I couldn't imagine it any other way." She let out a laugh as her friend described how her own trips happened. "Sounds like you need to take a real trip one of these days. Might just have to sneak in one night and 'kidnap' you so that you can know the true joys of wandering." She joked, but part of her was serious. She would love to have Adalaide experience what she did on a daily basis, even if it was for only a day or two.

"Oh?" She said at the mention of crazy things and the knights finding a dangerous herd. "I can't say I have done much traveling near the mountains, but I'll definitely stay away from them now." She really had no desire to walk into danger, it happened from time to time, but if she knew of bad areas she would avoid them at all costs. More importantly if the knights were concerned about this area and the herd that occupied it then she definitely needed to steer clear. "I'm glad to hear they rescued the slave though. I couldn't imagine living such a life, I hope they are alright." Had she not been warned, then she might have accidentally went to those lands and who knows, maybe she could have been captured and turned into a slave. "And what of you? Have your princess duties been keeping you busy?" She really didn't know everything that being a princess entailed, but if she had to guess, it would probably involve a lot of things and keep her friend pretty busy.

"I think she will be alright...in time, she is still with us and recovering, it seems she had been captured for quite a while and readjusting to life outside that terrible place is hard to do." She told her friend, her ears flicking as she thought about the chestnut mare, Ironforges son - Zhevra spent a great deal of time with her but Adalaide thought that the mare needed to come to terms with it herself before any of his efforts would pay off.

Such dreary thoughts were not something she wanted to dwell on however, now that Evangaline had been warned surely she would keep herself out of danger. Recalling some of her friends previous comments she gave her a look - her mother would be so angry if she up and left on an impromptu trip, but it was a fun thing to think about "Its busy sometimes and quiet others, really just depends on what is happening. I like this kidnapping plan of yours - I wouldn't mind seeing the beach someday, have you ever seen it ?"

"I can only imagine." She said with a shake of her head. That poor mare. She couldn't imagine being captured, kept as a slave for who knows how long and then suddenly being rescued and returned to a normal life. Though obviously the mare had to be of strong will and mind to endure such a thing and be able to recover from it. It was definitely a good thing to be warned about this area, Evangeline would not want to suffer a similar fate as the mares. She wasn't sure she would be strong enough to survive such an ordeal.

She smiled at her friend. "I don't know how you do it. Having all that responsibility rested on your shoulder." Sure, she understood that Adalaide was trained for such things since she was young, but even so it sounded like a stressful life. She laughed a bit. "Of course you like me plan, it is an awesome plan after all." Thinking on all her travels Evangeline shook her head. "I've seen the beach from a distance, but haven't actually been to it yet. But now I know where to take you when I put my kidnapping plan into motion. You'll just have to be ready to defend me when we are inevitable caught by your guards while I try to whisk you away for some fun." That would certainly put a damper on their plans, but maybe, just maybe, she could figure out a way to get Adalaide away from here and having some relaxing and fun times away from the stresses of being a princess.

Adalaide laughed slightly "I guess I don't always notice it to be honest, which sounds kind of awful really,I'm pretty sure that someone with responsibility ought to notice it - but I've never known anything different so I guess it's just normal for me." She admit truthfully to her friend. She really did think sometimes that she ought to be more humbled about her position or at the very least seem as serious and heavy hearted as Ironforge and some of the older Knight's..but she wasn't and she didn't slack her duties because of it...she just accepted them as part of her life and didn't let them get to her.

Of course she was also somewhat saved from such feelings by the fact that her parents and the older Soquili around her still dealt with most of the morally troubling issues which came up. Perhaps that would change as she got older.

"Ha, the guards - we could outrun them.: She told her friend with a wink "At least for a little while - the trouble is staying ahead of them, Ironforge would drive them without sleep until they fell over and certainly we couldn't outrun that pace. Still..maybe we can arrange for only a small guard to come with us..or something. I'd really like to see the beach someday."

Evangeline gave her head a nod. "I'm sure that you are so used to having all those responsibilities that you just don't notice it. But if you suddenly stopped doing them for a while I'm sure you would realize very quickly just how much you do without even realizing it." She paused for a moment thinking on that. "It's like how when I'm out wandering, I don't think about how far I have traveled in a day or week, because it's just too fun to stop and think about it. But then when I do think about it I'm surprised at how much ground I can cover in a such a short period of time." Okay, so those two things weren't even close to being the same, but it was the closest was she could give an example and it still make sense.

She let out a bit of a laugh. "If they were chasing us that hard day and night...I would probably just let them catch us. Would be a lot less stressful than always looking over our shoulders for them." And a lot less tiring. She perked up at the idea of taking a small group of guards, while it wouldn't be ideal it may very well be the only way to do it. "Now there's an idea. I'm sure they would agree to that, since you would be leaving with permission and have guards there to protect you. We should go talk to Ironforge about this." And then she paused, remembering the shaggy stallion from the first time she had met Adalaide as a foal. "Is he still as grumpy and stern as he was before?"
PostPosted: Mon Aug 04, 2014 10:29 am

Adalaide listened to her friends comparison and bobbed her head in agreement. "I could see that." She agreed, why going on this vacation might just make her a bit more aware of everything the herd needed from her. Maybe it would be a good thing - or it would make her annoyed..but she didn't think so. She didn't think she was the type to hold herd responsibilities against anyone.

"Oh he's still cranky," She confirmed with a slight roll of her eyes before perking up "But Mercy is still nice, I bet that she would wan...oh wait, I forgot she's off visiting her family. Well perhaps Zhevra will agree to come with us, he's not nearly as cranky as his father, or Kale...but he can be a bit of a sicklier for rules and procedure too."

Evangeline let out a bit of a laugh. She wasn't surprised at all to hear that Ironforge was still the cranky stallion that she had met back when she was a foal. "The day he stops being cranky everyone would probably die from shock." His crankiness aside Evangeline did respect the stallion a lot after seeing him put the knights through their paces during training. It was obvious that Ironforge took his role very seriously and the cranky personality came with that.

Hearing that Mercy wasn't around that the moment Evangeline frowned slightly. She had liked Mercy. "It's good to hear Mercy is getting a break to go visit with her family, though I admit I'm a bit sad she isn't here." Mercy was so much different from all the other knights. She bobbed her head at the idea of Zhevra or Kale being roped into joining them. "I suppose either of them will do." Neither of them would be perfect companions as far as she could tell, but if it allowed Adalaide to get away from it all for a day or two and for them to have a bit of fun then she would accept cranky or procedural knights that might accompany them.
PostPosted: Tue Sep 02, 2014 8:21 am

"Zhevra would be best, he's more apt to let loose and have some fun." She told her friend, Zhevra was still young and not quite as set in the Knightly ways as Kale was...but Kale was nice too and she supposed either would be fine if it meant being able to get out of the herd for a bit of fun. "I think Mercy was pretty happy for the break herself, I don't think she has seen her family since she came here." Which had been quite a while really - and despite her desire to get out and see more of the world Adalaide wasn't sure if she would ever want to be gone for that long. She would miss her parents far to much for that.

"How long do you think it would take us to get to the beach?" Honestly Adalaide had no earthly idea about how close or far this beach was, but surely with all of her traveling Evangaline would have some sort of idea, or at least she would have an idea about how far they could expect to travel per day.

"I think that settles it then. We'll ask Zhevra. If he can't do it then we will go to Kale." If both of them said no...well then the kidnapping idea might just be the only way. "I don't know if I could be away from my family for that long." Sure she traveled a lot but she always returned to see her family after every trip. "I'm sure her family will be just as excited to see her again as she will be to see them."

At her friends question Evangeline thought for a moment. "Depends on how many hours we travel a day and if the weather is good to us or not. But we should be able to get there in less than a week. Then we can spend a couple of days enjoying the ocean and the surrounding area and then come back. All in all we shouldn't be gone more than three weeks even if we do get delayed due to weather or other unforeseen things." So far the weather had been good this summer so Evangeline doubted there would be anything in that respect that would slow them down. "Of course we could get there faster by flying, but I don't think Kale or Zhevra would agree to that." Having flightless guards with them would slow them down a bit.
