Bio: A man with shaggy strawberry blond hair, lithe and a little on the short side, Dorian grew up in a Goldenrod City apartment complex with his mother and younger sister.
His early life was particularly uneventful: he attended school, played with friends, got into a little childish mischief along the way, but it was a relatively normal childhood.
But that all changed one late summer evening when he was twelve years old. It was dusk in Goldenrod, the noisy streets illuminated by the lights, the pavement still hot from the daytime sun. The heat was unbearable, for Dorian and his friends hanging out outside the Game Corner. So, it was only natural that when one of them suggested a late evening swim down at the harbor, they jumped at the chance.
Technically, they were not supposed to be swimming in the harbor; ships of an industrial nature were docking there all the time. But the civilian docks were quieter, leading them to swim there, as there was only one boat docked there at the time, the Azure Destiny, known to belong to a cranky old man named Salty.
They swam for some time, before they decided to have a little mischievous fun. Pulling themselves up onto the dock, they dared each other to climb up onto the deck of the Azure Destiny. Dorian, being brave as all boys are when egged on by their friends, was the first, and last, to climb aboard. As he stepped on, Salty came roaring out of the cabin, scattering the boys, all except for Dorian, whom he grabbed by the scruff of the neck.
His heart racing, Dorian was expecting the worst. He held in scream as Salty forcefully set him down on the deck. With a quick prayer, Dorian accepted his fate and embraced his end, but to his surprise salty went quiet. They sat that way for a few minutes, until Salty began to suddenly talk about the sea. Dorian leaned in, listed to the sea dog's words, drinking them in like fresh water. He was spellbound by his description of the sea, the tang of the ocean air, the touch of a mild breeze, the rock and reel of the waves. Then, he said something that would stick with Dorian forever: "The sea is like a mother. She gives, she takes, she holds and nurtures. She'll embrace if we do right by here, and scorn us if we don't. We should love, honor, and protect the sea, for she has done much for us."
The night was not their last meeting. The next summer, Dorian begged Salty to take him on as a deckhand on the Azure Destiny, which he did. And that was how he spent that summer, and all the following summers, up until this one. It was early in the season when Salty approached Dorian, and told him that he'd accepted work as a captain in another region. Holding back tears, Dorian embraced the man whom he'd come to love like a grandfather, and bid him farewell.
The days dragged on, until Dorian heard about Team Aqua, and it was like that summer evening all those years ago. He was enthralled by their message. So, it was only natural that brave, rash, and generally caring Dorian came to join Team Aqua.
