Yeah, speeches are more nonfiction, I know, but hey, I still had to write it. For speech class, ahah. Please critic, and let me know if I was persuasive enough.

Okay, I admit it. When I first started this paper, I knew nothing about the charity in question; Princess Diana Charities. Honestly, I was just out of choices, being stick numero twenty-nine. And yes, I said 'number' in French and not 'twenty-nine'. Surprisingly, I'm not French, nor am I from Europe. But hey, Diana was! Which is how I'm getting away with that joke. But please don't assume Diana was French, because I meant that she's from Europe. Wales, actually. Though her life was short, she died in 1997 at the young age of 36, she accomplished much within that time, and I can now say I fully respect her and what she did, and how her kindness is still effecting people today. To narrow it down, I'll describe what she did during her life, who she was as a person, and what her charity is still doing today. I hope that I'll be able to convince you to consider donating to this cause, and help others all around the world.
During her marriage, The Princess was President or Patron of over 100 charities. She did much to publicize work on behalf of homeless and also disabled people, as well as children and people with HIV/AIDS. Some charities she was President of the were Hospital for Sick Children, Great Ormond Street and of the Royal Marsden Hospital. This is all according to www.royal.gov.uk/ . After her death, the charity Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund was founded to benefit those sickly and in need. Though it may not be one of the most popular, or even well-know, charities, at least in the U.S., I consider it to be a very beneficial one and worth considering donating to. Maybe look around the official charity's site, www.dianaprincessofwalesmemorialfund.org/ , and decide if you agree.
Diana's life was not always the easiest one, according to http://abcnews.go.com/ Her marriage to Prince Charles ended with his adultery and the royal couples' divorce. Later, Diana began to secretly date a surgeon named Hasnat Khan. Though she said she was madly in love, they broke it off around a year or two later. In 1997, she began to see Dodi Fayed, but they were soon killed in a car crash after being pursued by paparazzi. Diana was only 36. Of course, all this scandal may be interesting, but what does it say about her as a person? Personally, I find these relationships to have made her a stronger person. Who else would only have three relationships by the time they're middle aged, have the willpower to divorce such a broadcasted relationship, and still donate their time and money to over a hundred charities around the world? Just imagine how many people she effected positively throughout her life, and the ones she saved, all while dealing with her own struggles. I consider her one of the most influential Princesses of all time.
As I've already mentioned, after Diana's death the charity www.dianaprincessofwalesmemorialfund.org/ was founded in her honor. But what does this charity do? Well, exactly what the Princess loved to do most; help those in need. Her fund donates money to people with disadvantages, both in the U.K. and around the world. An estimated £111,978,000 is donated and put towards its' receivers. Pretty amazing, right? Truly, you may assume that the charity was funded solely because she was some rich royal who wanted the approval of her subjects, but personally, I think that's wrong. Someone has to handle all that money, fund it, someone had to start the charity in the first place! Also, when the charity was first founded, many celebrities donated as well, including Earl Spencer, and Sir Elton John. Hey, you might not know them, but they were pretty big at the time! If you do recognized them, though, congratulations, you've won a cookie. Not really. I don't have any cookies. I'll end this paragraph here, and leave you all sad.
Hopefully, during my time up here, I have convinced several of you, if not a majority, of Diana's kindness, and how much hope she spread throughout her life, and continues to do so even after her death. Truly, through what she accomplished during her lifetime, who she was, and what impact she still has on the world, we can see how amazing she really was. Though I hope if we have another speech this year that I will not be stick, er, "number" twenty-nine, I do not regret my decision to support Princess Diana Charities, and I hope that you won't either.
