Summer was finally here! Some what here. Okay, not entirely here, but here enough that there was always that weird smell in the park. That smell that came from burning things. Burning meat, burning marshmallows, cookouts and parties and all sorts of things. Schreibersite had always loved that time of year, when such delicious smells just filled the edges of the park, and parties of all kinds were held! From big parties to little ones seemed to pop up around like dandelions, but alot more pleasant!

Tonight was one of those nights for parties! A day after June started! It was the perfect time to go and catch fireflies or people watch from high up in the trees! Okay, so maybe most people wouldn't do such a thing, but he wasn't most people! So instead of partying and what not today, Schreibersite decided it would be just fine, absolutely perfectly fine to people watching. Just out of sight, between the lamps on the pathway through the park, where the beams of light just couldn't meet one another. And people did come! But none especially interesting, just walking as if they knew the place was safe, and it was! He wasn't going to attack anyone, no, he was just here to smile, just here to watch their faces as they meandered on by. But there was one coming up, one person who was actually interesting!

Curious, how curious it was! A lovely, pretty princess was just moseying down the darkened pathway, her dress having a silky sheen to it. It wasn't often a princess was found just wandering around the city (the irony of such a statement was lost on him), and with child-like glee, he hopped down from his tree, right before the young woman.

"A princess! What are you doing wandering about? Where's your prince! Oooh, or are you supposed to be a princess that fights?"

Summer was a busy time of year for Elle. Slumber parties and tea parties were in vogue for little girls whose parents has several hundred dollars to spend per guests on a 'graduation' celebration for moving up a grade in elementary school.

Not that she was complaining. When your work was erratic, busy times usually meant good times in the following months when she had beefed up savings to comfortably get through the more sparse months.

She had just been set free from playing Sleeping Beauty and running party games and talking to first graders about her fictional lifestyle in some far away land, and was thoroughly exhausted as she slung her bag over her shoulder and was cutting across the park to her car. But when she was approached by a figure she quickly recognized to be a Negaverse officer, she froze in place.

It took a moment of processing before she just shook her head. "Oh, um... N-no..." She pulled the pristine blonde wig off her head and pulled the pins holding her dark curls into place to let her real hair fall free. "I'm just a... I'm a party prin--... I'm. It's hard to describe. I'm just coming back from a job, it's entertainment for hire I guess."

She powered up, trying to cut the awkwardness. "But normally I'm one of you," She informed. Her face was stone serious at all times, even when she stumbled over her words, and as she stood before him in uniform with shoulders squared and ankles together. She didn't look especially friendly, which was an unfortunate side effect of Elle/Galena's inability to emote on the level most people expected.

"I have extra, if you're interested," She said, reaching into the bag on her arm still and pulling a posh little box wrapped in ribbon and marked with a crafty little paper tag that had flourished writing labeling it 'apple cinnamon', a marker of the flavor of cupcake contained inside. She held it out and offered it in earnest, hoping he wouldn't be too put off by her awkwardness.

Marot watched Elle with fascination as she pulled the wig off and letting her lovely dark hair fall about her shoulders. How did she keep it so neat! Not that Marot ever really wore wigs before, but any time his hair was even pressed down slightly, it would get all matted and gross looking. But not hers. And then she powered up as well! She was a MAGICAL princess! Her clothing was darker than most princesses, but that didn't mean anything, to be honest. She was just as lovely as she was when she was Belle. Now, she was lovely AND she felt simular to him, and that brought a little extra comfort to the man, knowing that she was part of this so-called 'family'.

"Normally? Really? SO you normally go about in this weird uniform?" He pulled his own, skin-tight uniform a bit, grinning as it snapped back into place after he let it go. The only way he could describe the uniform he wore was weird. Not at all cool like Elle's.

He gave the cupcake a weird little look, then smiled, taking it happily from her. It wasn't too often that HE was the one receiving something. Normally, he'd refuse, since he loved GIVING things, not especially receiving them, but all was well in the end!

"I have nothing to give though.. But I CAN give my name. Marot. Oh, and My powered name. Schreibersite. But you can Call me Schrei. And These are my weapons." As naturally as if he had been powered for more than just a few weeks, he summoned his rather silly, large pair of Sock'em Boppers to his hands, wiggling them infront of her in an excited, childish manner.

"What's your toy?" It seemed so wrong to call it a weapon, you couldn't hurt a person with a pair of hand balloons!

"Not... exactly," The now Lieutenant Galena said with a slight flush to her pale complexion at her choice of wording. In all actuality she did prefer being powered to the guilty secret of her current profession, but it had been a slip of the tongue.

"Oh! No, gifts in return aren't necessary, it is only and extra--... I.... thank you..."

While Galena's day job was just a stepping stone in life it was one she was good at, because children had no social expectations of her or a solid grip on how things 'should' be until they were otherwise trained, and honestly, neither did Gal. She had a much harder time with adults and the swirling expectations surrounding each nuance of conversation. Nuance she really was incapable of grasping, and she knew it.

He was being so upbeat, and she didn't know why, and it was a stumbling block where she would be otherwise icy and stern. She cleared her throat and tried to get her bearings, acknowledging his introduction with a slight bow of her head. "It is lovely to meet you, Marot, aka Lieutenant Schreibersite. I am Lieutenant Galena, also known by Elle."

She tilted her head at his weapon. It was different from the subtlety of Cinnabar's gloves or the lethality of the higher officer's weapons, but she wondered what he would be given on promotion.

"Ah, I don't have a toy," She said as she reached up. Her hair had become pinned up again when she powered up, but this time she removed the metal chopsticks holding it in place, letting it fall again. She held the sticks in her free hand as one normally held chopsticks for eating and clicked them together. "However, they aren't exactly useful as of yet either..."

"Extra or no, I am so happy! Never not ever I get sweet things from people, I want to gift you back, someday, some how I will!" she didn't look to happy, but that was okay! Just because didn't look that way, didn't mean she wasn't! Maybe she was just tired! Or maybe she was just like that. Many of his friends just frowned all the time, but they were still good people! And he was sure that she was good people too.

And excited nod was given when he got her name. It sounded familiar... Maybe it was because Elle was like CinderELLa. She was just as much of a princess even without the costume! How wonderful and perfect was that, though! With a happy, excited grin, he continued to listen to her. When she glanced at his weapon then showed hers, he stepped back just a little bit. After all, chopsticks were pointy! They could pop his poor toys, and just how upset would his master be if he found out that he had broken them. They wouldn't just fix themselves now, would they? If they did.. He certainly didn't know.

"Ah, ah! But Miss Elle! They ARE useful!" His mind switched over to teacher mode, and he reached out, wanting to look at the sticks she held.

"There are form of martial arts. I teach martial arts. Not the form that I'm talking about, but another form, more of a dance form, but there are other forms, other forms that will use these to defend, deflect, make attacks. I cannot teach you those, But I can help you learn things like that. I know people. People who can teach you that stuff too. Do you know how to fight? I don't like fighting real fights, sparring, yes, not real, want to hurt fighting." He nodded, as if he came up with the most brilliant idea in the world. But she still seemed tired. And he didn't really like the dark all that much... Night time was a terrible time to try this.

"You must be tired, right? Tired from being such a beautiful princess all day. You must want to rest, yes?"

Galena mouthed a quiet ‘oh’ when he said her chopsticks were involved in a form of martial arts and looked to the sticks in her hand, and back to him to make polite eye contact as he revealed his dabblings in other forms. She nodded a bit in acknowledgement, and then quickly found herself shaking her head ‘no’. “I don’t… I’m not skilled in any sort of fighting. I don’t like it, it’s very… I don’t see much point in degrading oneself to savagery. It upsets me.”

Although she clearly looked uncomfortable as she shifted, and even absentmindedly twirled one strand of curls around her finger as she looks away. “Although I suppose it’s unavoidable… if senshi are going to attack…”

She shifted her weight off of one ankle. The burns had healed but the memory remained. She had been on the receiving end of brutal attacks in her short tenure as a lieutenant, it had caused anxiety and uncertainty.

He asked if she was tired, and her answer was to power back down and give a sluggish nod, bringing her hands to rest, fingers knitted together at her waist. “Ah- u-um… Thank you for the compliments. I was just walking home home,” She gave a slight glance down the street they were on and prim as ever, offered him one hand, “Would care to accompany me for the rest of the trip?”

An answer she hoped was going to be in the affirmative, because after the last several encounters with the war, Elle hated walking home alone.

"Savagery! No, no. no, no No! It's not a savagery! It is an art! It is a dance! It is a way to move and think and feel in a way that not only looks so wonderful and smooth but also gives you a way to defend yourself! It is not savagery if you want to stay safe, is it?" He seemed upset for a moment, even insulted! But She looked like it too, she did not look happy, so.. They were even on that.

Slipping back into a smile he shook his head, more to himself than to her. Senshi attacking.. Those senshi, they were the Little Lights that flickered around the city, seemingly always just on the edge of what he could feel. He had met a baby senshi, a wee little light, and a knight, a lovely, sweet lady in a glorious dress.. But never one of those senshi that were notorious for attacking his shadow friends. Not one.. Maybe they were a smaller threat than he had thought. But the princess.. She seemed tired and nervous about the thought, so the offered hand was taken, and he shifted it around so she was holding onto his arm, rather than to his hand. It was more secure that way, safer. And she was closer. Being closer brought feelings of comfort, right? He thought so.

"I will accompany you! We will have a nice, safe journey home! And if you'd like, I can walk you home all the time! I never really have any place to be. I'm not important enough to be given tasks. I forget too much.. OH! Oh, but not you! I won't forget you! Because, now, my dear princess! You are my friend!"

“I’m sorry,” Elle was soft spoken enough, but the sentiment seemed to be almost whispered as it escaped. “I’ve never… That…” Her shoulders raised and dropped in a sigh. She took his arm when he turned to accompany her like a proper gentleman and her lips spread to a modest smile, both hands taking their place on his arm as they walked.

The peace of the entire motion assisted in articulating her thoughts. “I don’t enjoy being ignorant and unable to defend myself,” She said after a moment. “I’ve never liked fighting, though. Not as a spectator and I certainly never saw myself as a participant. I don’t like seeing people hurt, I don’t want to hurt anyone myself.”

Strictly in a physical sense. Elle in a past life could be vicious when it came to rumors and sharp words, although much of her spark for conflict had left her once she’d been recruited to a world of very real danger. IT had been replaced with crushing uncertainty and fear instead as she found herself flailing in a world she failed to understand fully and couldn’t begin to think of how she was going to effectively operate in it.

“I didn’t mean to offend you,” She added after her explanation. “I’m sure it’s a very artful practice. And you’ve been very kind.”

Even if, in spite of the anomalous and small smile, she remained stiff and stone faced. Small gestures made their way into interaction, though. Just enough to convey some subtle appreciation and friendly response. Things like the way she brushed her fingers to his shoulder when he offered to walk her home every night. She couldn’t bring herself to believe it, because deep down Elle was still a cynical street kid who didn’t wait around expecting anyone to follow through, but she thought the sentiment was genuine and could appreciate such kindness in the moment.

Home for Elle was a small, two bedroom and one story bungalow with a neat lawn and a bright row of flowers lining the front of the slate wood porch. As she extracted her keys and fiddled with the lock, she turned her bright eyes to her new companion. “Please come in, I wouldn’t feel right letting you go off into the night without at least letting me return some kindness. Tea is my specialty.”
