It wasn't long after the Venus bash when Diona began to show. She had been through this two too many times before and recognized it for what it was right away. The red fae couldn't believe it! Someone needed to keep her from going to these things, pregnant every time she went out for a little bit of fun.

Diona didn't even knew who the father was this time... she had been quite flirtatious with many males, and even a few females, it was her first party of this type where she had complete and absolute freedom. The pregnancy and birth had gone much like her previous experiences. Only this time she was presented with a girl... and a boy, who was her identical, and while Diona was beautiful... a girl! Diona had never experienced anything quite like she experienced when she saw the red curls of her adorable little pink girl. Perfect in every way. A future heart-breaker for sure.

With the birth of the children, also came the reveal of the father's identity. Diona couldn't forget that delicious pink male she had spent a portion of her evening with. It wasn't as if she expected much from the father of her perfect girl... and son... but she had to try to pawn the boy off to him, that way she could focus all of her love and attention on the darling girl. It was a brilliant plan in her mind. A girl!

She had no idea where to find her mystery man... had they even exchanged names? Diona racked her memory and found most of it to be a blur, even the fun parts! He was a faerie like her though, perhaps the best place to try first would be the city.

After a decent length journey to the city, with two young babies that required her to re-learn how to be a parent... with more enthusiasm than she previously had, she arrived. Diona didn't even have a name to ask around about, so she wandered through the streets. Looking around for a bright pink pae who was certain to stand out if he was around. Diona didn't realize she was following her nose to the sweet aroma wafting from the open doorway of one of the buildings. Still unaware, Diona found herself poking her head into the doorway of a bakery. A treat couldn't hurt...

Hopefully this is an okay intro, sorry it took me a bit to start it.

Kalibang had all but forgotten about his activities the night of the annual Venus Day party in the days that had followed. He'd accepted that he'd made some decisions, some good, some bad, and that it basically canceled out in the end. Good enough for him.

He'd resumed his work, which was his passion in life. He'd been looking for an assistant, but everyone he'd interviewed had been either completely incompetent or merely looking for work. As if baking was just a way to make a living! Baking was a way of life! And so he was working alone for now. It was either the perfect apprentice or no apprentice, as far as Kalibang was concerned.

The little bell over his door rang, but he was bent over an oven, pulling out some fresh buns. "Be there in a moment!" he called jovially. "Until then the smells are free!" He pulled the tray out of the oven and then carefully lifted the buns onto a rack to cool. Then he turned his attention to the counter, and his jaw practically hit the floor.

"It's you!" he exclaimed. It's unclear whether his tone is accusatory or excited. This was definitely one of his decisions from Venus Day. He'd thought she'd been a good decision, since she was as deliciously hot and fresh as he remembered her being, but the fact that she had a couple of kids in tow made him rethink this assessment. The little boy was his mother's spitting image, but what worried him was the little girl. Sweet pink skin frosted around the edges? This may have been turning into a very bad decision.

Still, thought Kalibang, there were lots of people at that party. Surely he couldn't have been the only pink one. Regaining his composure, he adjusted his hat and apron and leaned casually on the counter. "What can I get for you? Fresh bread? Muffins? They're sort of my specialty."

Diona was admiring whatever goodies were on display, as well as the sweet smells. Seeing that she was going to have to wait for the baker anyways, she set both the children down and her arms felt the sweet relief of losing the extra weight.

There was something vaguely familiar about the voice that had called out from the oven, but she still hadn't put all the pieces of the puzzle together. And then Kalibang was standing before her, looking just as she remembered him. Her mouth parted slightly, feeling fortunate. Diona thought of a few flirtatious responses she could make to his talk of muffins, but as the boy knocked something over she was reminded of the presence of her children and that she was actually here on some sort of serious note.

Diona hadn't really thought through what would happen when she actually found the father of the children. She had never really had this conversation before, despite her two previous unplanned pregnancies. Now that she was seeing Kalibang again she was reminded of the reason she had enjoyed his company, he had seemed to be like her in that he might not be interested in... settling down... And here she was with the definition of settling down.

"Two muffins sounds good." Diona said. "How have you been since the party...?" the fae asked casually. She was sure it was quite obvious to him that these were his children, yet she didn't know how to bring them into the conversation.

"Busy baking, as always," said Kalibang, leaning down into the case. "And you?" He tried to keep his tone light and jovial, but he was getting nervous about the purpose of this sweet thing's visit. Or how she'd found him. What had her name been? Not that it mattered. He pulled out two muffins, both sweet and bursting with ripe berries. "One blueberry and one raspberry," he said, putting them on napkins on top of the case for her to take.

Now, what was the etiquette here? Did you still charge one-night stands for muffins? "I'll accept a pound of sugar, or a half-brick of chocolate, or a basket of berries from the mainland," he said with a smile.

There was always also the back room where they could have a repeat performance from the party, he'd totally also take that as payment, but somehow the presence of the two tots made Kalibang think that option was somewhat off the table.

Diona admired the two muffins that Kalibang had set out, it seemed he had talents in other areas as well, they looked delicious! "I can certainly say that I have had my hands full lately..." Diona responded nonchalantly. It seemed that for now they were going to ignore the fact that she had brought in two tiny pae with her.

Diona reached for one of the muffins, ready to split one in half for the kids when she paused, hadn't thought about the fact the the muffins might cost money. "Right..." she said, having nothing on her but the tots she had carried with her. She did have one form of compensation in her ability to fill any container with rum.

"I can pay in rum, write you a note with my promise to bring some berries... or..." the red fae turned around and picked the boy up off the floor, setting him on the counter top where he immediately reached for one of the muffins, "Or I can pay you with your son." It wasn't the most ethical form of payment, but it was one way for Diona to point out the giant elephant in the room.

Kalibang normally took payment in the form of ingredients for baking (or with the occasional romp in the back room if any ladies who were so inclined came through for cakes), but the prospect of rum sounded good to him. "I haven't had rum in a long t--" he began, then stopped short as the red tot was plopped on the countertop.

Quelling the urge to wipe clean where the child touched the counter, Kalibang swallowed hard. "Um, that's not my...usual form of payment..." he began carefully. It was difficult for him to tell if this was her way of forcing him to acknowledge the children, or if she were really offering to pay for a pair of muffins with a child.

Also that felt like less of a payment and more of a payback. After all, a son was much more work than muffins were. Wait, was she trying to foist one of these sticky-handed little mess machines on him??

"No, no no no," said Kalibang, backing away with a panicked expression. "I have work to do, and besides, how can you be sure I'm their father?" He folded his arms over his chest defensively. "There were a lot of people at that party and we didn't share any kind of potion. I don't know much about kids but I know how that works."

She hadn't been sure what response to expect when she had set the child on the counter, but the female braced herself for anything. Diona couldn't help but smirk at his reaction, she probably would have felt the same way. In fact, she had several times before.

Diona set the boy on the floor before he could cause any trouble to the world or himself on the counter (although he managed to take a whole muffin with him as he went). "You see..." Diona said, now picking up his clone, holding her protectively in her arms, there was no way he was taking her angel. "...I'm quite certain that you are the only possible father of these children." While the children had inherited some of her good looks, these traits were undoubtedly Kalibangs, even more clear now that they were all in the same room together.

"And I know how these parties work and its completely possible." Diona retorted. She wasn't about to explain how she knew how they worked, but it hadn't been her first rodeo.

Kalibang bit his fingernails as the woman brought up the girl child. She was right--there was no denying his contribution to her good looks. "Alright, so maybe the girl looks a little like me," he conceded, waving his hand flippantly. "But that one down there is a cookie cutter image of you," he pointed out. Except for the telltale blue streaks in his hair. Shh..

"So assuming that one of these is mine, what do you expect me to do about it? I'm certainly not getting married and settling down. Certainly not. What, do you expect me to take one of these children?" He put his hands on his hips defiantly. "Shouldn't they stay with their mother? They're awfully young, after all." He bit his fingernails again. Perhaps they should stay with their mother permanently.

He watched the little girl in her arms thoughtfully. She was reaching for the second muffin on the counter, but her fat little arms couldn't quite make it. It almost made him smile. His muffins really were that good.

There was no denying that the boy didn't look that much like his father, but as far as she was aware, she couldn't have babies from two different fathers, so they were both his. "I wouldn't ever suggest that. Been there, done that." Diona was not about to settle down with him either. He had all good and fair points, but she didn't really want to raise two children. How would she be able to spoil her daughter?

"I'm a female... what could I possibly teach our young son about being a male?" Diona asked him, flashing her large green eyes at him.

"Besides... don't you need someone to pass on your legacy too. Teach them all the fine points of... baking? Children make great workers, and you don't have to pay them." Diona was trying her best to convince him that taking the boy might be in the best of everyone's interest. She wasn't sure if it was working.

It was a fair point. He did need an apprentice. And what better apprentice than his own child? He could raise it up to appreciate the fine things in life, to tell the difference between good and cheap flour, to make the perfect souffle. But on the other hand, a child would be an immense burden to him, it would throw his schedule completely off, and might possibly ruin his business. It's why he'd never had any. Until now, he supposed.

Kalibang still wasn't thrilled about taking one of the children, much less the one that didn't look like him. But girls were the hard ones, right? There wasn't much to teach about being a man.

Just then, the girl began to wail and squirm in her mother's arms, still reaching for the muffin on the counter.

Kalibang went wide-eyed at the shrill sound. "You can keep that one," he said, glancing at the boy on the floor, who appeared to still be peacefully munching on a muffin. "If I'm going to take one, I'll take the less noisy one, thanks all the same."

After all, what would he do with a sissy girl? He'd teach the boy the arts of baking and wooing the ladies!

"Does he have a name?" he asked.

Diona held the girl a bit more protectively when she noticed Kali was looking at her, smiling. No. The girl was her darling, precious child. A smile of relief rolled across her face as the girl started fussing and Kali gave her permission to keep it. Not that she needed it.

The fae reached out and grabbed the muffin and handed it to her daughter. A reward for convincing Kalibang that he didn't want her. And well, to be frank, this girl was probably going to get whatever she wanted on a silver platter anyways.

"So you'll take him." Diona smiled, pleased that she could focus all of her energy on her daughter now. "It will be best for everyone." She shook her head, "I hadn't really named them yet..."

Diona searched around for something she could fill with rum, when she found a small bowl she touched it and let it fill. "Here," she said, offering Kalibang the bowl. You're going to need it.
PostPosted: Wed Jul 09, 2014 1:20 pm

How could she not have named them yet? They looked to be at least a few weeks old, right? I mean, they didn't come out looking like this, right? Kalibang tried not to let his face make a screwed-up expression, but he wasn't sure he succeeded. "I'll, uh...I guess I'll give him a name, then," he said with a bit of a shrug. This whole encounter had left him completely topsy-turvy.

And now he had a bowl full of rum. Great. She couldn't have asked for a container with a lid? He marveled for only a moment at how the bowl just...magically filled at her touch, wondering if it'd work with infinite containers. Like Pae. He watched the little boy on the floor and then glanced back to the bowl full of rum. Maybe he should just drink it now and forget this all happened...

The woman was still here. How could he make her go away? "Can I....get you anything else?" Kalibang asked lamely.

Sorry x.x I think I forgot about this

Just because she was more accepting of her role of mother, at least where her daughter was concerned, it didn't mean she was any good at it.

"Great!" Diona said enthusiastically, it sounded like their arrangement was settled for good now, no take-backs.

Diona hugged her sweet, little dulcina. Hmmm, Dulce... Dulce and Diona... that could work. "It has been good to see you again..." Ugh names. "Perhaps we can have another rendezvous sometime." Diona said with a sly smile and a wink as she turned her hips and headed towards the door.

The young boy, still on the floor, looked up from his muffin, his big green eyes shimmering with confusion as he looked at his mother and sister walking away. He then looked back at the other adult, his lower lip trembling quietly.

Wolfs Heart
XD no problem

"Perhaps," agreed Kalibang faintly. He snorted internally. Not likely, not after this. He sighed, hands on his hips. Now what? Could he just...get back to work? Not likely, not with a tot sitting in the customers' walkspace. Just then he caught the boy's gaze. He looked about to wail.
"Nonono," said Kalibang hurriedly, coming around the counter to scoop up the little one. "Crying is for girls, boys don't cry. At least not in my shop they don't," he admonished, trying to bounce the little guy on his hip like he'd seen the women-folk do. Unfortunately he didn't really have the hips for it, and the boy began to slide down. "Woah, hey, nope, don't do that," he said, picking him up again. "See, this is why raising children is women's work," said Kalibang to the little one, blowing a puff of air up toward his hair.

((I think they can probably be done if you want!))
