User Image With a heavy sigh Kaiden looked into his pouch once again, just as he would in a few hours, continuing in an endless cycle. It felt... wrong without his protection medallion. He trusted his mother which led him to trust Raken that it was the right choice to surrender it...But it didn't stop it from feeling wrong. His silver eyes peered into the pouches depths, of course only seeing his hunting knife, string, and a few seeds to nibble on. Maybe he should ask for a new one...

But then they'd know I ignored the notice. He groaned and pushed off his bed. Sitting around moping wasn't helping him. Maybe a walk would clear his thoughts. Another sigh and he was out of his nook, walking down the hall towards the dining area. He just had to trust that everything was going to be alright. How hard could that be?

User ImageFi stretched, glad that the weather was far warmer than it had been at the end of the cold season. She had given up a great deal hoping to keep the inhabitants of The Great Tree warm, and hadn't gotten around to remembering to ask for another one of what she had lost. But what was it she had lost? That was something she couldn't remember. She knew it was more important than almost anything, but what was it? Why hadn't she been out to other places to look for more materials lately?

The orange femme ran a hand through her curling green locks, leaning against the entrance to her boutique. Fi knew it was something she needed to do, but she was still trying to figure out why it was she wanted to go see the shores again. "What is wrong with me?" She grumbled, shaking her head.

Pushing off from the wall, the fauness made her way to the dining area, hoping a meal would clear her mind a little. She was forgetting so very much lately, it was getting to be a real problem.

Mind still lost in thought, the male wondered into the dining area. An endless loop of his missing his coin then dismissing the idea of asking for a new one. He grabbed himself a plate to stand in line. Maybe I should...they can't get too upset, right? His silver eyes grazed around, eventually settling on a green haired girl. But what if they increase my workload as punishment? I'd be sore for weeks. No, I can't ask. I'll just have to deal with it. It was right around here that he realized he had been staring at the poor faunness. Not to be gawking, she just unluckily happened to be in the place he was staring into space at. He blinked rapidly, shaking off his previous thoughts. He knew that pae, at least he was pretty sure. One of the Tree's very own hard workers. Clothing if he recalled, though she probably didn't know him as he never had need for any cloth.

She was...pretty. Very pretty. And now he was staring again. The male quickly pulled his eyes away and continued down the line, getting himself a helping of salad and roast rabbit. Wasn't he just the most awkward faun of the batch?

Fi sighed, wondering just what design she should come up with next. She hadn't made anything for a male in a long while, maybe it was time to stop and make something for them. But that meant she needed to find a model. What males did she know that would willingly stand still while she poked sharp pointy things at them? Closing her red eyes, Fi shuffled her hooves along the line helping herself to several bits of food.

It wasn't until she was almost done that she noticed a green male staring at her. Was he volunteering to be her model? It had to have been that. She'd never seen him around before, but that didn't mean anything. And he was staring at her. "Do I know you?" The orange female asked, a smile on her face. It was as if nothing could stress her out. Even her tone sounded cheery. What was it that she was thinking about anyways?

"The rabbit is good, you should eat more of it." She offered, trying to make conversation. Hopefully he would be her friend. That was all she really wanted out of him. Right?

Salad and rabbit. Just focus on the salad and rabbit. Just do that, and slide quietly away- he gave a little jump at the soft voice beside him. "Me? Oh, no. I don't think so." Kaiden glanced beside him at the female, hoping she wasn't freaked out from his staring. Well, it didn't seem she was. He sheepishly smiled as he rubbed the back of his neck. "This rabbit might well have been one I caught. I contribute to the hunting here. My names Kaiden." And might as well clear out the moose of the room. "I didn't mean to stare at you. Got carried away thinking and you just happened to be...there." Oh sticks he was awkward! He had to laugh at it. Been so long since he interacted with a new pae, he was awful at it.

Fi blinked, he'd been staring at her? "Wait, you were staring at me?" She didn't seem to be good at keeping her thoughts to herself. But then, that had really never been one of her strong suits.

"Thank you for hunting this rabbit then!" The female giggled, leaning forward to kiss his cheek. "They do an excellent job cooking it, but it wouldn't be anything if they didn't have someone out there to help catch the meals~" Fi was still smiling, at least until she realized they were holding up the line. With a squeak and a blush, the femme started moving forward again. "Oops. Guess the rest of them want to eat too." She tried not to sound like a child getting caught with her hand in the cookie jar. Most of the faun had seemed to just ignore her when she started getting like that.

"Hi there!" She smiled, waving at the green faun that was next to her.

Wait, she didn't notice him staring at her? And he put the hoof in his mouth by telling her? He sighed deeply before smiling at her. At least she didn't seem to mind too much- His entire face bloomed in a deep blush.

Was it just him that had females want to kiss his cheek, or was that a typical thing?! When he first met Lira, she had done the same thing. "Y-y-your w-welcome." He stuttered, quickly forgetting exactly where and what they were doing. Until of course, the pair of glaring eyes began to pile up behind them. "Oh! Yes. I guess they would." He quickly shuffled to get an apple for dessert before moving out of the line with his meal. What she said next though was a bit...perplexing. "...Hi?" Perhaps she was waving at a faun behind him. He glanced over his shoulder, but no one seemed to be looking their way. Perhaps he missed it. The male looked back to the green haired faunness. "If you don't have anywhere to be, would you like to eat together?" It certainly beat him eating alone, now that Lira didn't come out anymore.

Fi blinked, looking down at what she held in her hands. She had forgotten that she got her lunch? Holy Tree that was weird! "It's meal time?" The femme looked at him, sincerely confused. But that's what she gets for not paying attention.

"I would love to!" She smiled wide. It had been a really long time since she'd gotten to eat with anyone else. She was usually inside her boutique working on new designs and things to make all the faun look gorgeous. Today seemed like a good day to eat with the faun she wanted to keep looking their best. "Where do we sit?" Fi asked, blushing as she realized that her usual spot during the great meal time was occupied.

At her question, the male at first thought he misheard. Didn't she see the food in her hands at that moment? He had to have misheard. Besides, she had agreed to sit next to him. His tail gave a happy flick at the thought of making a new friend. "Great! We just...sort of pick anywhere that's free. Like that spot over there." He nodded at a corner space in the back, a bit further from the main bulk of faun eating. They'd be able to talk comfortably there. "If that's fine with you of course."

The fauness smiled, "Looks great if not a little dark." But she'd more than happily sit there if it meant the chance to make a new friend. Or get another faun to dress up nicely. That was always a bonus.

While they walked, she started humming. A quaint little tune, nothing fancy. Just something she had learned when she lived outside the tree. But she couldn't remember those times. What had happened then? Fi frowned a bit, still humming as the song took a sorrowful tune to it. Where did she learn this? Why couldn't she remember the pae who taught her?

"Where are we going again?" She asked, snapping herself out of that terrible train of thought. She was trying to make a new friend, not figure out about her past!

He nodded his head to her little tune, but admittedly it made him nostalgic. Lira used to hum. He shook his head, clearing his thoughts to hear her question. "...The table. Over there in the corner to eat." There was only so many times one could chalk things up to mishearing before admitting the problem wasn't their ears. "You're a bit absent minded eh?" He spoke with a nervous chuckle, hoping that was the reasoning behind it. The male slipped into the seat. "Oh, I haven't caught your name yet." He smiled lightly at her.

She did manage to make it to the table before forgetting something again. "Absent.. Minded?" The female asked, a bit confused. She wasn't absent minded was she? "Am I? I thought it was just forgetful..." Fi frowned, wondering how many times she had asked the same question of this kind male.

The orange femme was chewing her lip as she settled into a chair, "Oh, I'm sorry! My name is Fi." She tried to smile, ignoring the fact that she was trying to remember as much as possible about this guy. He seemed so nice. "What's yours?"

Forgetful? Oh Spirits...don't tell me she has short term memory loss. He hadn't seen it in pae, but he had seen it in animals. Just not nearly so quickly was the memory lost. "That's a nice name. Spunky." He took a bite out of his rabbit as he tried not to look surprised that she forgot his name already. That would put her memory at around three minutes. The poor faunness. "My name is Kaiden, but you can call me Kai if it helps." She seemed to be a nice pae. At least he'd be in good company, even if pieces of conversation had to be reiterated. "Do you have any family?" It almost seemed dangerous to leave her alone. Hopefully she was staying with someone.

"Spunky?" She laughed, it had been a while since someone called her that. Or her name even. When was the last time she had talked to someone? The thought made her blink, trying to clear away depressing thoughts.

"Kai? I like it." Fi smiled, "I used to have family, when I lived outside of Laisidhiel... I think." The smile quickly turned upside down. "I'm not sure I was even related to them, but we loved each other like a family." Those times. It hurt her heart to remember them. Was that why she was forgetting things so often? "Now I have the boutique, and I rarely leave unless I'm looking for materials." The frown remained on her face. Of all the fauns within The Great Tree, Fi loved sitting on the beach more than gazing upon their home or the ground they walked on. She would almost have rather had water beneath her hooves.

"Hey, you want to go surfing with me?"

He chuckled with her laugh - it was a warm sound. She was an oddly endearing pae. But on the topic of family, her smile faltered. Once again he had put his hoof in his mouth, making the poor faunness sad. He had a knack for doing as much. "I'm sorry to hear that." Used to have family...loved...what had happened to her family? He didn't want to press, not wanting to upset her any more.

The question however that suddenly popped up however, was a head scratcher. Random to him, he wondered what was her train of thought that lead to it. "I don't know how to surf." He spoke rather lamely, his smile turning a touch embarrassed. "But I'd be willing to learn so I could." It was time he got out and about instead of holing up in his room in self-pity. Months had passed since that heinous 'adventure' down in the crypt, so enough was enough.
