One thing Acanthite enjoyed about her powers was that she had a simple and practical means of retribution for whatever creepy guys she might encounter while on her nightly patrols. She had gone by a club tonight to bat some eyelashes and harvest some energy in order to make up for the Negaverse time she had lost between final projects and final exams, and some drunk guy had had the audacity to try to grope her. The Senshi of the Cataract had already had him alone to drain his energy, but when he had gone and done that, she immediately gave up on affording him the kindness of leaving enough energy to drag himself home.

Now she stalked along the edge of a rooftop, carrying all the energy she had been able to pull from him. Acanthite still felt sort of gross, but at least she was now far closer than she had been to fulfilling quotas for energy. Glancing back over her shoulder, the girl grumbled aloud, "Should have taken his starseed, too."

Penthesilea was well aware that she shouldn't be out patrolling, but she wasn't intending to get into any fights. Her stomach still hurt, and she had no desire to aggravate or reopen the wound, or cause damage to anything around it. So tonight, even though she was approaching a Chaos aura, she genuinely wanted to talk.

It felt like a Corrupt Senshi, and those were always fascinating. It was confirmed when the girl came into sight, and Penthe caught her frustrated grumble.

"Aw, what'd he do t'you t'warrant killin'?" She asked, though she could certainly think of a few things she'd pull a civilian starseed for, were she Negaverse.

Acanthite shaded her eyes with one hand as the White Moon senshi approached her, frowning. Great, something else to make her mood even worse.

"What?" she replied, blinking as she took an extra moment to process the other girl's accent. "Oh, he was being a little too familiar, if you know what I mean." The auburn-haired girl tugged at her skirt draping over her short crinoline self-consciously. "I let him walk this time, but I hope you would agree that he's the sort that the world might be better off without."

Now she kind of wished she had gone and done it. Putting it that way in her mind made it seem all the more noble. Recycle his douchey starseed for something far more useful to everyone.

Penthe wrinkled her nose when the Corrupt explained. "Alright, youda been doin' th'world a service if ya had taken 'is starseed," she acknowledged. Perhaps she was more willing to pass off agreement because she was still dealing with the injury to her stomach, and trying not to aggravate what had once been a gaping hole in her midsection.

"Hell, I'da snapped 'is neck." She shrugged. "Penthesilea," she offered a hand, because hey, playing friendly with Lellouch had been interesting enough, maybe this Corrupt would be too.

She was initially a touch wary of the other girl's offer of a handshake, but was encouraged by her agreement with her methods, at least.

"I'm Acanthite," she replied, taking the other senshi's hand. The Senshi of the Cataract had a hole in her chest, as well, but at least hers looked like it was supposed to be there. For now, though, she elected not to comment on the other girl's healing injury. Part of Acanthite's mind screamed, 'easy target', but she also wanted to try to keep this friendly for the moment. Maybe Penthesilea could give her some information or something.

Maybe she could try to play the White Senshi's wound to her advantage after all. "You doing okay? That looks like it hurt, and here you are powered up again. I have to say I admire your dedication." The grey-eyed senshi smiled disarmingly, hoping her compliment would not come across as a threat.

Penthe nodded, filing the name away. "Sounds more like an officer than a Senshi," she said, and her tone was mostly curious. "Acanthite" didn't sound like a space object to her, but then, she could be wrong. There were a lot of things out in space.

She exhaled briefly and lightly pressed a finger to the scar, at the center of the strange frostmarks on her stomach. "Onea your Generals gave it t'me, 'bout three weeks ago," she said, a slight smirk on her face. "I'm halfway up just t'spite 'er, she meant t'put me in th'ground."

"That's because I am an officer," Acanthite stated with confidence, inclining her chin. "Maybe in the past, I was a senshi, but I'm working to correct those mistakes now."

She was quiet then, taking a moment to study the other girl. Then she added, "Well, it's good she didn't kill you, because it leaves you a chance to join us and make amends, if you really want to set things right."

"Mistakes?" Penthe said, and her tone was shocked. "Y'don't even know what yer name was, what yer planet was like - an' you're countin' it all down t'mistakes? Why?" She thought of the glorious petrified jungle on her world, of the city with its three great walls, of the Colosseum that stood tall in its center. Of the buildings that still wouldn't let her in. There was more beyond that, and she knew it.

"I don't got nothin' t'set right. Not with th'Negaverse. Bettin' your people are th'reason my planet's so dead." If nothing else, she was sure of her path, and sure that her homeworld wasn't something to be discarded.

"Maybe your planet wouldn't be so dead if you were there taking care of it instead of here, on Earth, causing trouble?" Acanthite suggested, tone flippant. She had heard about the planets of the senshi and their demise, of course, but it had never quite occurred to her that it really applied to her. She cared nothing for whatever she might have had in the past; the present was far more important to her allies, and therefore, to herself.

"Or maybe you could just let a dead planet go and focus on helping fix all that you've done on this one. After all, I'm sure you were born here, just like me, right?"

Penthesilea's hand curled into a fist. How dare this Corrupted Senshi imply that what happened on her planet was her fault. How dare she act as if there had to be a choice -- abandon Earth for her planet, or abandon her planet for Earth?

"I don't got nothin' t'fix," she snarled, and then without further beating around the bush, she swung a sharp uppercut at the Senshi's gut. She would make her regret her words!

The Senshi of War's fist forced an unattractive grunt from Acanthite's lungs, and she staggered back, doubled over and coughing. It hurt like hell, but the auburn-haired girl also found herself feeling somewhat satisfied at having gotten such a strong reaction. So they truly felt so strongly about their alien planets, did they?

She forced a smile back to her lips as soon as she could manage it. "That important to you?" Acanthite breathed, voice still shaking slightly. "I guess seeing is believing."

What sort of planet had the Senshi of the Cataract originally come from? Not caring seemed cooler, but she also recalled her conversation with Buddy, and how maybe such knowledge might come in handy for a senshi of the Negaverse.

One hand still pressed to her stomach, she stepped back, feeling behind her with the other hand until she located a duct to sit on. "What's your planet even look like, after a thousand years or whatever?"

"Yeah, it's that ********' important to me," Penthesilea replied sharply. She wanted to keep punching, but on a retreating opponent it seemed - well, a little unfair. She kept her fist clenched, though, threateningly - a reminder, hopefully, to tread carefully.

"It's beautiful," she said, and ti came out less sappy than it usually was. "A petrified jungle, an' a grand city with massive walls - buildin's of all sorts, incredible architecture." Her expression softened, just a little, talking about it. "Better'n anythin' I've seen since I left N'awlins."

Hands pressed to her midsection, Acanthite studied the skyline behind Penthesilea, and the stars beyond the skyline. She coughed again, whimpering at the pain caused by the effort of it, then asked softly, "Does it come back to life each time you visit it, though?"

She was quiet a moment longer, then stood up again, speaking with more strength to her voice: "It does sound interesting, though. I wouldn't mind seeing sometime."

She prayed the suggestion would not earn her another punch. But Acanthite had always been rather disarmed by pretty things, and she could not completely quash the curiosity about all the myriad space rocks out there that supplied other senshi with power. So long as she could keep her wits about her, Acanthite was willing to show this vulnerability to the extent that it seemed like she could get something out of it. Knowledge, or intelligence, or both.

"Yep, it does," Penthe said proudly. She had noticed it, little by little, bit by bit - no animals, but plant life, and the trees starting to look like trees again. Planet Penthesilea was coming back to life as its guardian got stronger. It was the only explanation, clearly.

With the request, Penthe softened further, unclenching her fist and letting her arm rest at her side. She'd taken one Corrupt into space, and it had gone just fine. Why not another?

"I could take you up, sometime, if you wanted."

"When we're both feeling better, then?" she suggested, then took a careful deep breath before letting it out slowly. "I'm sure we'll be able to find each other again."
