So as night fell, I went ashore to eat some herbs by a tiny stream outlet but got ambushed by a Ysali dragon. I fled cause I didn’t realize there was a dragon there and I wasn’t in to mood to attack, I just wanted to eat some herbs after a couple of months without any. Since I was still in the mood for plants, I circled around to a different part of the land and poked my head up to observe the shore and make sure that nothing was going to disturb my eating this time.
Looking at the shoreline, I notice that the land is dark and the only light is from the stars. The sun had vanished below the horizon while I was eating and getting ambushed. I figure that since all the plants around here are dark colored, that this land must be what others call Soudul. Thinking back a couple of months to when I was stalking a ship, I remember hearing about a special herb called Fluffotton that grew along the banks of Lake Koralifel. The saliors had mentioned that the Oblivionite Mages prized it for its dark and powerful properties, claiming that spells and potions made with the herb were much stronger. Thinking harder, I can’t remember them ever describing it. All they said was that "anyone know it when they see it". The sailors had also mentioned that it dwells mostly on the Western banks of Koralifel and that it is easiest to find at night.
Hmmm….I am currently close to Koralifel because I swam westward away from that tiny stream outlet. That outlet must have been from the lake as well. I’m also still craving plants; I shall go off and find this plant. I might even save enough to bring home to my siblings.
I launch myself out of the ocean and fly over the shoreline, looking for a large body of water below. Spotting it after an hour or two of flight, I settled down on the western shore and start looking for this special herb. Since I’m still hungry for plants, I’ll eat the rest of them as well. I look for hours, munching on the gray and purple bushes and black grasses. I’m starting to get full and clouds are rolling in, looks like a good storm. It might be time to leave and come back another day, personally, I’d rather fly in storms all day then look for plants. As I sit and stretch my legs and wings out, the clouds come in a block the last of the moonlight. In the sudden darkness, I notice something off to my right. Even though it is night, something is burning a strange blue glow from within a patch of cattails along the bank. Sniffing on the breezes that are starting to rise, I catch a scent that reminds me a day I spent in a library.
Curious about this strange indoor scent in the outside air, I push the cattails aside to reveal a glowing faded blue fluffy-looking herb that spins and circles around to the center, much like a rose. This must be the Fluffotton that they spoke of! After all, what other herb glows a faded blue and had that cloud-like shape? It also doesn’t look safe to eat. I think I’ll take it home and see what my little siblings think of this inedible plant. Wrapping the surrounding cattails around the Fluffotton as protectors I launched myself into the air and headed to where my siblings had settled.
