This was not a venture she had wanted to take. Still meurra had been pondering the loss of the child he knew he had. Lately he had even been secretive going so far as to kidnap another mare. This one had been a water mare that noct had removed from the den with some hast. What was it with meurra and blue wenches? Noct shook her head determined to find one of meurra's children and bring them back to him so he would stop his pathetic sulking. It was unfitting to him and an annoyance to her. [uh I feel horrible for short tags but the muses are so dusty]

Gamma sighed for the hundredth time as he wandered the hills and plains alone, trying to distract himself from his own thoughts. He'd reunited with Beta, whom had welcomed him much more warmly than he'd deserved. He'd abandoned her, after all. He hadn't understood that at the time, but he'd learned. And he'd continued to do so. When Beta was near, he could keep some of the guilt-ridden thoughts at bay, but the weight of his abandonment of Beta and their countless other siblings and half-siblings couldn't be removed from his shoulders for very long. Beta had suggested spending some time exploring and enjoying nature. He couldn't really argue with her; even attempting it was exhausting when Beta was his opponent. For someone so clueless and almost ditzy, she was very good at deflecting his protests. Sighing once again as he turned, he paused briefly to fix on a body of blue walking in his general direction. Huh. That wasn't an Azrein that he'd seen before. Well, he doubted whoever it was was interested in a dull, sullen stallion like him. He started walking again, silently struggling against his inner demons again.

Nocturne saw an azerin in the distance and changed coarse to head toward it. Information would be an asset her. When she got closer she noticed the stallion looked well for lack of a better word. Morbid. She nodded her head in a way that was polite and concise. The sooner she was done with this the sooner she could return to Me’urra. Her voice was the soft whisper it always was when she spoke. “I am looking for a blue flying mare she foaled some time ago.” Noct closed her eyes for a moment and thought back to the name Me’urra had told her about. “Erumana, Ermara. Something along those lines.” She looked at the male clearly not ready to waste time with normal pleasantries. Talking was a nuisance she disliked. How Me’urra managed it all the time was beyond her. She could only hope this male talked more like Me’urra and less like Cardinal’s daughter. That mare could blather on abut nothing all day. Me’urra at least had a point buried in the mess of words. Silently she prayed while she stared the male down awaiting an answer.

Gamma was a little surprised when the blue Azrein--a mare--changed course in order to talk with him. His dull gaze met her apathetic one as she spoke, her voice much softer than the ones he was used to hearing. This mare was nothing like his sister Beta or his friend Kadenza. They were loud and enthusiastic, while she was quiet and emotionless. Or, well, not quite emotionless. He thought he caught a flicker of annoyance on her face.
Her question made him think for a few moments. Beta's adopted family was huge, after all, and thinking about all of the Azrein that he was living with took some time. "... I don't know anyone by a name like that, nor do I know any flying blue mares," he replied simply, his voice unenthusiastic. "My apologies for being unhelpful." It wasn't a new thing for him. He'd always been sort of useless.
His pink eyes slid away from her yellow ones as he turned to leave. "Is there anything else you wished to ask me?"

Useless in this matter. She moved on to the next source of required information not dwelling on the past since it was now irrelevant. “Human settlements. Is there one near here?” This male seemed subdued and meek. The kind that was easy to befriend like Me’urra’s monster of a mother liked where Noct so inclined she might do the same, though it seemed pointless.
“You remind me of him. It’s … vexing?” She tilted her head trying to place the emotion she was feeling somewhere inside even if it didn’t show. He was downcast and pathetic. It didn’t match what should be there. To be like this was to be almost dead or perhaps worse because it continued on while death was at least an ending. “Your ailment?” She inquired as succinctly as she could not wanting to elaborate further. He would understand or he wouldn’t. Hopefully he had a brain and could put it together. She hated explaining things.

Gamma paused, turning back to the mare. "Yes, there are several." He faced the way he'd come, nodding in that direction. "Lady Dea's abode lies in that direction." Turning again, he added, "And there are several farms in that direction." As he spoke, his pink eyes were much sharper, as if the need to think had temporarily banished his depression from his thoughts.
When she mentioned that he reminded her of "him," he just tilted his head in silent question. Who did he remind her of? And why was it vexing? Her next question caught him a bit off-guard. His ailment? ... Ah. She likely meant the source of his... gloominess. "... Guilt and regret," he replied, his eyes clouded with emotion again. A lifetime of guilt and regret caused by his own ignorance and cowardice.

Dea the name meant nothing but it was a start and farms humans but information as well. She blinked slowly mildly surprised at the change in his clarity of sight. She listened to him state his issues. Very much like Me’urra. She raised a hoof and gave him a good crack in the foreleg without thinking. “Get over it.” She rolled her eyes. “Stuck in the past and downing changes nothing.” Really if he was going to be so foolish then there would be no helping him and he deserved to waste away to nothing.
She moved right past him in the direction of the Dea human’s home. She had little pity to waste on a useless husk and she simply didn’t have the patience for it.

Gamma instinctively reared back at the strike, pink eyes going wide as muscles bunched to force him into a defensive stance. Nostrils flaring and ears flicking back before perking up with alertness, his startled gaze remained fixed on the mare for several moments.
He sighed irritably as he forced himself to relax. "I'm trying," he grumbled irritably as he trotted after her. Beta was at Dea's home, and he didn't want this mare giving his sister any sharp remarks like she had him. "I'm gloomy, not stupid." The mare grated on his nerves, but at the same time she felt... somewhat similar to himself. Similar, but definitely different. Her... 'ailment' was different than his. Speaking directly to her instead of grumbling now, he spoke more clearly. "What about you? Your ailment?"

Noct noted the male has some fight left in him which was good. It meant he might someday recover if he had the self preservation instinct most had. His following her did slightly amuse her. Perhaps he was of the northern type who had a bonded. She briefly wondered what killing the human’s would raise in the male but discarded the idea as it was too much work and too far from her goal. “Dealing with stupidity and the after effects.” Her tail twitched as she kept right on walking. That did seem to be her problem didn’t it? She was fine alone and even sometimes enjoyed it, yet she had that tie to others that had caused her nothing but paint and misery. Why even bother with it all? Me’urra took her in and cared for her. She owed him. Yet how far did such extend. She had brought his son down should he ever require one and even raised the pest. Now she was up to find more of his spawn or to drag that blue mare back to try and cheer him. It simply was a waste of her efforts.

Gamma couldn't help crack a slight smile at the reply. For some reason, that amused him. Stupidity and the after effects, huh? "We aren't that different, then." His guilt and regret were the after effects of his prior ignorance, after all. But he doubted that the mare was talking about stupidity pertaining to herself; it was probably someone else. "But couldn't you just leave whoever's generating your ailment?" he asked, glancing at her with an intelligent pink eye. "Separation, even temporarily, can cause some enlightening changes." It had done wonders for him. Changed his life, really. Well, except for the cowardice part. He was still better with flight than fight, despite his strength.

“Leave the only thing that’s ever given you a measure of comfort?” That was the problem wasn’t it. Noct felt nothing for much of the world and despite Me’urra being a constant source of vexation he was the only thing that kept her safe and provided her comfort. She was indebted to him. “Separation does not lessen debts.” She sounded tired saying that. No leaving Me’urra would just mean she owed him and was further from paying it. He was not the type of stallion to forget either. One day he would come and letting herself think otherwise would simply be a folly. She glanced at the male her eyes a strange sort of empty. She kept plodding along her route. The sooner she found her goal the better.

"It is better than deceiving yourself... or coming to despise what gives you comfort," Gamma replied. Her next comment made him give a reluctant nod. "That is true. Separation does not lessen debt. But does being together lessen it?" He was a bit curious to hear the opinion of this empty-eyed mare. "What does lessen a debt? And does the debt ever truly go away?" He paused then tilted his head thoughtfully. "Ah. I'm asking a lot of questions. I apologize if I am being too invasive." Maybe it was because this mare was in a situation similar to his own that he was so curious. True, his "debt" had been to his own mother, but it had still kept him by her side far longer than he ever should have stayed there.

Deceit involved lying even to one’s self. She wasn’t concerned with that. She knew how she felt it was simply her obligations that kept her longer. “In some cases it does. And debt can be paid off. It simply involves work.” She looked at him. “You ask too many questions. It’s annoying.” Though his prying had made her think of a few things. Her debt to Me’urra was a strange one and perhaps it could never be truly paid. Still she could think of a few things that might lessen it considerably. She plodded along rolling over her options. Firstly she could attempt to eliminate those who annoyed Me’urra the most. Cardinal and Sharsa came to the top of the list. Still how could she get that done? The answer was simple. Get some assistance.
(... thanks so much Gamma... now she's gonna try and kill someone.. OTL Stop making her think... XD)

Gamma cracked a brief smile at her blunt comment about his questioning being annoying. "Most things about me are," he replied casually. He'd gotten used to people being irritated with him. It was just a part of life now. Nothing he did was good enough for anyone, especially not his personality. A coward like him didn't have many friends at the end of the day.
As they drew closer to his temporary home with his sister and her adoptive family, he couldn't help but sigh quietly. If this mare thought he was annoying, Beta would drive her nuts...
(( He can't help it! Underneath the gloom, he's a philosophical intellectual... > > Also, would this be after the RP where Nocturne met Itzal? Because Haides could be at Dea's... ))

Great she was being trailed by something she would rather leave behind. “how long?” how long would she be bothered by this male? She could see the smoke of the home now. It wouldn’t be long and she would be able to find the next step or at least have a place to drop this male off hopefully forever. The sigh from the male made her glance at him. Did he dislike this place? That thought made her pick up her pace toward it.
(It is indeed after.)
